Why do people have such a hard time grasping an ambivalent situation?

The woman here is not at fault for feeling what she feels. Nor is the guy. He had no intention to rape her but that is indeed how she feels about it. It's just one of those cluster fucks that happen. Obviously he feel bad about it and I understand that he does. I would too. I wonder what she feels she might gain by going public with this? And what do people gain by questioning her actions or motivation all over the internet? People do get traumatised and process it in a way that it surfaces years later through seemingly unrelated mechanisms. The human psyche is complex. This is not a question of right and wrong. It's just a shitty situation being aired in public in an ungracious way. Hopefully those involved will be able to finally process this and move past it and on with their lives.

...and actually makes me feel better that I rejected several virgins in college, fearing a disaster I couldn't quite define. I was screwing at 17-18 even though I was screwed up. The way I figured it was that if women weren't, they were even more screwed up than me, which is where I drew the line...

She complains about people posting photos of her sister, and posts a link to this thread containing a photo of her with her sister.

It's unfortunate her family is brought into this, but we have a right to know which people associate themselves with Tucker Reed, the false rape accuser, so we can avoid having the same thing happen to us. She should have thought of that before attention-whoring all over the internet, and trying to ruin a man's life by posting photos of him and falsely accusing him of rape. He's probably getting death threats and is having serious trouble with his reputation and career.

Tucker Reed never put up any actual resistance. She was never beaten, threatened, or drugged. Again, it's very difficult to have sex with someone who is resisting, and she never wrote of any struggle taking place.

She brought him to her bedroom, merely gave the token resistance that she didn't want to, and "it happened anyway." She consented. She let him in without putting up resistance. She never said "stop." She told him it was hurting, which is normal for girls having sex for the first time. She said she "tried to pull away." Did she try to push him off, while telling him to stop? All she wrote was, "He pulled me closer." It sounds like she just allowed him to continue without clearly demonstrating that she wanted him to stop. Especially when you consider the fact that the accused man was very drunk, she should have known to make it loud and clear that she wanted him to stop.

By the way, she might not have lied about the details of the incident, so I think that can be appreciated. I think all she did was word the incident in a way that denies her responsibility, or implies some sort of force. She could have gone wild after making that recording with the accused man and said he threatened to beat the crap out of her. That would have made this a clear act of rape.

Like most young women, this eager little narcissist had no idea who she was, and likely spent most of her time in a kind of diffuse mental fog. Then one day she decided that an identity as a rape victim had some appeal, and so she decided to brand herself as one---though she had never been raped. So she identified an event in her past that she could plausibly twist into an occurrence of rape, and essentially lied her way into making it rape, lied her way into identity and permanence, and has now established a personal brand that has earned her some attention and some social cachet, especially in this age of vacuous, pointless tumblr feminism.

He is already suing, from what I read. The potential fallout is difficult to ascertain, as he may rapidly find himself in the same "trap" she is in: a case to prosecute but not enough evidence to prove the matter by his preponderance of the evidence burden. To show defamation, he has the obligation to prove the falsity of the statements, a task made much harder by her recordings in which he ostensibly admits culpability. Whether they can come in as evidence is also unclear; in a civil case, he doesn't have the same Constitutional safeguards that would thwart her introduction of the recordings in the criminal setting.

The other consideration is the social fallout, which is an interesting question itself: will the hit to her reputation be any worse if she lost at trial or settled the case than it is already? As long as she sticks to her story and doesn't admit the entire thing was consensual/a witch hunt, she gets to maintain her narrative as "silenced rape victim," which should even boost her standing among her supporters. The only danger is that a wider swath of people who don't believe her would hear about the case; however, as she already got it to go viral, that may be pissing into the ocean at this point.

How can someone 'realize' that they were raped? If I got raped, I would know within seconds of it occurring. I would be aware of what was going on during, and would be fighting as best I could to prevent it from occurring. Why are we allowing this kind of shit to be taken seriously?
