While following Leonard's advice would certainly be... Memorable? God, I'm not even sure what word to use to describe that. Anyway, I'm too far away to do it, sadly. I can only talk to him on the phone.

So I took the advice of the other (non-Australian) posters, blocked the guy's number, removed him from skype, and blocked his email. I don't think he knows my address, so this should be my last contact with him unless he's extraordinarily resourceful.

I realized that at some point, if I keep trying to persuade him that what he's doing is stupid, I'm not really that different from him. He's convinced that if he just says the right things to this junkie slut, if he just white knights hard enough, she'll come to her senses. If I kept trying to convince him, I'd be basically white-knighting for him. I've already thrown every imaginable argument at the guy that what he's doing is stupid. He refuses to listen, because he's "fallen for her," and somehow that makes it okay. And I'm not going to do that. White-knighting for someone who's trying to destroy their life simply doesn't work, and I don't want to get sucked in to the hell that his life is about to become.

Guys, I don't know what to do. I want to be loyal to my friend. I've known this guy for years. But I'm also a firm believer that you are the average of all your friends, and I'm worried about what effect hanging out with a guy like this is going to have on me. (I was already so upset after this call that I missed my workout for the day.)
Am I disloyal if I just block the guy's number and never talk to him again? How far do obligations toward a friend go? Is there a point where, even if he isn't doing anything to harm you, you just have to cut your losses?

I'm a bit late to this but as an old friend of yours, I think you should try and steer him on the right path. If that means breaking him down to tears, then so be it. He can build himself back up but he needs to hit rock bottom first before he realises how insane his actions have been.

You should compile some red pill blogs for him to read. Heartiste and ROK being good starting points.

I believe that guys that are red pilled should aspire to show some sort of leadership among their friends, rather than finding their own red pill path and neglecting everything that they ever knew that isn't on the same train of thought as them.

Maybe someone with more reach in the community should start a Save A Beta Day or something.
