You are right. I phrased that poorly.

But here is the thing. At the time - people either believed Hussein had WMD. Or they believed the US and UK were lying about Hussein having WMD.

When the truth was that - Hussein was successfully lying to the West about WMD. In order to keep his country safe from Iran.

At the time. I heard zero people say that Hussein was strategically bluffing (by repetedly kicking out the weapons inspectros) in order to protect himself from Iran.

It was always - Hussein is a threat. Or Bush is lying. When the truth was probably neither...

That was excellent actually, and it changed some of my opinions. I'm tempted to share it on FB, but I can't be arsed dealing with the hate I'd get. I've seen speculation that Bush intentionally spoke in a incoherent and uneducated manner as a tactic - as a way to make himself seem more as your next door neighbor who you can talk football with in order to appeal to the average working or middle class guy. Remember how during his campaign against Kerry they kept emphasizing that Kerry was some elite, snobby New Englander type while he was just one of the good 'ol boys.

It was a tactic but he was a "real guy" well as real as a gilded 1% Ivy league guy from a Texas family dynasty could be but still you get my point.
