I look average, don't think the problem is there.

Approach: ask about liquor store to buy wine for a dinner party. The girls really try hard to help me find a liquor store and most listen to my comments about wine making in south america and wine tasting but any attempt I make to talk about something else or change topic I get one word answers.

Sounds like you may be trying too hard aka trying to sound interesting or cool and not letting it come out naturally in the course of conversation. Open her with your question, then shift to her talking about herself by asking her a more personal question and having her elaborate.

You guys are being a little harsh. Shit happens. Maybe his game is ok, probably not good, but ok and at least he's approaching. I once went through a cold streak where I lost with pocket Aces 6 hands in a row.

If mall cops are being called in after your approaches, then I'd think you are coming on too strong. You might be using too direct a game, when you need to be indirect until you get good at reading them. Get 2 laughs and some kind of indication they are interested (like they ask you a question about yourself) then ask for a number.
