Comcast Users -setting up the proxy
Well I've gotten bunch of letters for violating Digital Millenium Act from comcast.

They even wrote the exact name of files I downloaded through torrent.

do you use proxy to avoid those?

How do i do it for comcast?

If anyone asks, perhaps your lawyer will explain it was someone hijacking your connection from a neighboring house, somewhere else. Never admit or discuss anything except with your lawyer.

There's some way to get paid proxy or VPN so all they can tell is that there's traffic but not what it actually is, I don't know the details. My assumption is unpaid proxies will not have the bandwidth to do downloading.

Of course, I am referring only to legal downloading, and explicitly discourage all illegal behavior.

Can you recommend a vendor? Someone has to get between him and the download sites to protect him if I understand correctly.

Not really sure but HMA is pretty popular and well known. Otherwise, just find something out of country if anything.

I don't use one but I'm on a private torrent tracker. However with the way they've been passing all these laws and bills, I may have to get on one soon.

Do US providers always send notices when you download torrents? I torrent many shows and a many movies. I can't image these providers sending notices to everyone who downloads torrents. Isn't everyone downloading torrents these days?

Torrents are the best. I usually download HD 720p or 1080p for all torrents. They are usually pretty big in size but my bandwidth is pretty decent. The advantage of downloading 720p or 1080p torrents is that you can watch them on a big screen and they are just as good as DVDs or even Blu-Rays in some cases.

I think I'm gonna go to Starbucks when I wanna download things from torrents from now on. It's not like I'm using them every day and I only get albums, not movies. I'd be fucking pissed if I got in trouble for downloading cd's though, might as well play it safe. How do you get on a private Bit Torrent tracker?

Quote:Torrents can be a little dicey with security, which is why I haven't been using them much lately.
The most effective and highly recommended precaution you can take is the use of a VPN. More info here:

They cost a little money, but if you torrent A LOT then they're certainly worth it. I would recommend getting one if you plan on making torrenting a regular thing.

Who downloads movies anymore? They are tons of sites which now stream. Many of them are still in theaters and good quality.

As far as music goes you can download an youtube ripper which rippers the audio portion from the video

You still need torrent to download games/programs but as long as you disable uploads you should be fine. Ive been downloading stuff for years on comcast without any issues.

To get access to a private bittorrent site you need an invite from a member.

So just delete the torrent as soon as it finishes then it should be fine?

Delete the file from the download list and close the torrent program as soon as it finishes.

1channel.ch is a great site to stream from. They have almost all movies and most movies from the theater within the week. Stop downloading movies. Its just a waste of space.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

No it's not. I can find almost any movie ever made and get it extremely fast.

Waste of space? Hard drives are cheap relative to how much a movie takes up.

Streaming is almost always low quality and a pain in the butt finding movies you want, plus you need internet and you have to watch ads.

Maybe if you're in a low bandwidth area, otherwise, just download.

I downloaded from thep***bay and have never received a letter. then again I haven't used it in 3 years due to being on a fast private tracker.

I download movies because I only torrent Blu-Ray rips which are usually around 8-12 GBs. I have my hard drive hooked up to my big screen TV with a surround sound and it is almost as good as watching the Blu-Ray. I like to watch my movies in good quality with DTS 5.1 which the torrents have.

If you want to stream, you will have to use a laptop and the quality on streaming sites and Blu-Ray rips is not even comparable. I have actually tried to stream on my laptop and connected that to my tv and once it gets stretched across the screen, it is not even close to watchable.

Regarding space, 95% of movies are one-time watches anyway. I download, watch, delete, and recycle the space. The movies that I truly like and know will watch again, I buy them on blu-ray.

I guess it all comes down to your viewing preferences.

I'm on an odler laptop and can't download movies. I can but it's gonna be taking up to much space. If I could, I would download Blu Ray rips, hook the laptop up to my flat screen via HDMI, watch them then delete. I'm also a movie and audio freak though, I like everything looking and sounding as perfect as possible when it's movie night popcorn

Houston, why don't you download them and then transfer to an external hard drive (that's the way I do it).? This way even if your laptop has a small hard drive, you can download and still connect to your tv via HDMI.
