"Bitch set me up" a classic quote from him, when he was getting arrested for smoking crack with a hooker. He went to prison for 6 months, however he got re-elected again after he got out of prison.

I kind of like Ford, he was self-destructive but like mentioned above, he did what he wanted and didn't give a shit about societal norms in a country full of pansies.

His is death was from cancer, which is always pretty tragic.

That's strange because i've come across quite a few people lately that do a lot of cocaine (well did) who now have strange cancers. A 35 year old guy I know has some strange sinus cancer and a 30 year old party girl has odd tit cancer.

Something in the cut must be doing it.

You know for all the hits Toronto takes here ( a lot of it deserved no doubt), I will say that it deserves credit for electing Ford. He was as non PC as it gets and actually did a good job despite his craziness. He wouldn't have caved to the SJWs when Roosh went to Toronto last summer. It's impressive that he was even able to get elected in Toronto of all places and I think he would have been reelected if he hadn't gotten cancer. There is no way Ford would ever get close to getting elected mayor in Chicago or most other American cities.

I disagree - he actually did give a shit about 'societal norms', but the kind recognized by regular families, not the Toronto elite queer-pandering set, like the George Smithermans and Orivia Chows. He was a regular guy who reduced taxes for the middle class bedroom community commuter family types, and the media and leftists hated him for it. He was a troubled guy and had his own demons to deal with, but he was a grand middle finger to all the champagne socialists and limousine liberals in Toronto centre.

I really liked Ford whenever I saw him on TV, especially that one time he was giving a couple of tree-hugging cyclists grief about not making the laws here even more draconian to pander to their leftist ideals. He said, "I can appreciate their drive to cycle but they need to do it away from the streets. City streets are no place for their kind of cycling." Something about zoning or traffic laws as I recall.

The cyclists where I live give you a three-fingered salute if you try to pass them. This is out in the boonies and they almost never ride single file but 'stretch out' on the highway with their buds and dare you to say something. Well one time I did and the bastard followed me home and it almost came to blows. If it'd had been in my native Texas, he'd have been shot by anyone else in my family. But I'm a softie.

Nothing against cycling and neither did Ford, but there is a time and place for everything.

One important thing to note about Rob Ford is that his critics NEVER criticized his job performance as mayor or city councillor. They criticized his personal life, while they let leftoids like Jack Layton get away with exploiting Asian immigrants in rub-and-tug parlours and gave Layton a completely undeserved state funeral. Rob Ford was good at his job and he served the interests of his constituents, the taxpayers, and that's why the voters loved him. The fact that he could win in a leftist cesspool like Toronto should give us Trump supporters hope (yes I'm talking directly to you LOZ). Rob Ford won because he inspired the conservative base, what he called "Ford Nation", and the base worked tirelessly to campaign on his behalf and convert the Toronto lefties, just like we here at RVF work tirelessly for Trump. It worked for Ford and it will work for Trump. I'm proud to have lived in Toronto and voted for Rob Ford in 2010 and argued hard with many a leftie and probably converted more than a few.

RIP Rob Ford. Cheers big guy.

Gutted to be honest. He had a flawed lifestyle, but his heart and politics were mostly always at the right place.

What are some examples of his actual achievements. I'll give him credit for trying hard. He was strong as a councilor when he had little more power beyond a vote in council. He would always take people's calls or call them back if they left a message. He worked his ass off to be sure that anyone could connect with him and be heard.

However, as mayor, I see no evidence that he did a "good job."

Not according to the law. Bicycles are a valid and legal form of transportation.

This is childish on the part of cyclists, but it's a reaction to the routinely dangerous behavior of motorists.

These cyclists are fighting back in an alpha manner which, while it is not something I can support, takes more balls than driving to gym to do your work-outs there.

What are you talking about? Ford was elected on promises that he would "stop the gravy train" and wasteful spending without making cuts or increasing taxes.

Once elected, it quickly become clear that the gravy train didn't exist and spending was not wasteful.

In reality, Ford ended up proposing cuts to libraries, parks, recreation services, social services. He also proposed an property tax increase of 2% and increases to TTC fares (not good for commuters).

The consulting company that Ford paid $350,000 to concluded the following:

96% of the money spent by the infrastructure and public works department was on essential services.

96% of economic development spending was on essential, core and mandatory features.

In transit affairs, Ford cancelled the under-construction lightrail system, declaring "subways are the way to go!"

Of course subways are much more expensive than lightrail. Robbie repeatedly went to the province to beg them to give him more money (it's fine to increase provincial taxes for the benefit of one city, apparently), but they shut him down.

In the end, Lyin' Rob's solution for funding was a tax increase.

As far as I'm aware, all Gravy Train Rob accomplished during his term as mayor in the area of transit was costing the city money by cancelling plans that had already be partially paid for. He created nothing, wasting time and delivering no solutions.

In fact, he stated that if elected again, he would be willing to consider a light-rail plan very similar to the one he had originally wasted tax payers' money by cancelling. Good job Rob.

I can't speak for all areas of routine mayoral work, but in the key issue of transit, in a city with increasingly horrible traffic and rising commuting times, Rob fucked up bad.

I don't think the hero worship is based on clear thinking and reason.
