I used to love sweets. Now I hardly like the taste. I just eat them when I have a need for sugar and fat.

Meat, eggs, potato, fried rice, refried beans, a good salad. I prefer all of those to sweets now.

I don't have a big sweet tooth. But if I am eating something sweet I like off the charts rich and indulgent stuff like like tarts and squares.



Supposedly Butter Tarts are only Canadian and only show up in places like the UK.

They are more rich then sweet I guess but I love them.

I like deserts with dates and figs in them too. To me a date or a fig is the perfect amount of sweetness I like. I like to snack on figs, that's like a desert/treat to me.





^^ These Nanaimo Bars above are another Canadian classic. All our traditional deserts are no frills and basic as hell but they aren't to sweet I like them a lot.

Finally some good news. But you gotta have it like we do, hummus 'ful', with some hot paprika, tehini, and plenty of olive oil.

Extra tehini, or just what you had put into the hummus(as a dip, not the plain chickpeas)?

I load the top of my hummus with Spanish smoked pimento(better paprika imo), olive oil, and usually pine nuts.

I also love making hummus fatteh with Lebna too.

I have never seen a queue for a regular shop with regular goods here in Europe. Can't this people make better and cheaper cupcakes at home? The ingredients are cheap as hell. water, sugar,flour, eggs, milk?. some shitty topping.

Yeah man, Labane (goat cheese) is the truth.

Haven't tried it with pimento, just use lots of tehini (dip). Good call on the pine nuts too. Throw a boiled egg in and you're all set.

DC is currently being infested with an endless amount of beer and burger places. Which is normally not a problem, because I love both of these things. It doesn't affect me because I'm not a fucking pig and I work out.
