I guess that's a good deal for all the Kim Dotcom haters but I tried it for Spanish and Portuguese and was unimpressed. Maybe for Russian it would be more helpful given it's a different alphabet and all. I plan on trying it soon as I already have it.

Yeah it's actually a really shitty product from what I saw of it. Even in the later stages it's sooooo slowwww and repetitive.

There's a alot of torrents for Rosetta Stone for almost every language. Can never figure out how to install them tho.

That was me and I sat on the torrents for years then googled how to do it and it took about 2 minutes. Can't recall exactly what you do but I think you download a program and copy the folder over or something. You essentially trick the computer into thinking you have the CD. Just google how to mount Rosetta Stone torrent.

Make sure you are using a proxy if you download Rosetta Stone torrents. They are actively going after and prosecuting downloaders.

A much better alternative is Duolingo. I have been using it for Spanish. It's free and there has been a significant improvement in my level of Spanish. No Russian though. Just Spanish, French, German, Italian.

I got every language for $30. Find someone who knows how to download them and throw them a couple bucks. I'd rather just kick someone $30 than try and figure it out for myself. I'm not a big fan of it though. It's too damn slow and boring.

The pimsluer cds are pretty good an you can download those torrents pretty much anywhere

Rosetta stone is sort of a turd of a program. You don't really learn that much using it.
If you want to get it just torrent it without seeding and use peer guardian. That should cut down on the possibility of getting caught.
Then download Alcohol 52% or daemon tools and mount the iso file using a virtual drive. It's not hard at all.

Rosetta Stone is something I've never heard a language-learner praise.

I hear it get praise from people who used it and had fun. But they didn't learn the language. It's made like an interactive game. You feel like you're winning the game if you can remember a few words and simple phrases.

But there are many resources like Pimsleur out there which are used by actual serious language learners.

I would second Pimsleur. Rosetta Stone has got a fantastic marketing machine behind it, but it's not all it's cracked up to be.

But I got a shit storm of viruses and malware from downloading torrents years ago and I haven't tried again. Has anyone else had that problem or are your virus protection programs good enough to not make that a problem?
