As an african-american it is truly sad to see this kind of thing. That woman is a product of her environment. She likely grew up without a father and the baby is doing the same. This is not shocking, but rather the cycle that continues to be proliferated in the black community.

I tend to believe this. This kid will see the worst parts of America. The poor, the hopeless, the violent, the drug addicted, the madness. He will see the worst of the worst. That a hell of an education. He will have a very deep and wide perspective. He will learn things that are not taught n school.

He will need to channel that experience into a positive direction. He will need to use that experience as motivation.

Many poor people have become successful. But, its way harder when you have shitty parents.

This kid will need to catch a few breaks. Good luck to him.

Maybe, he should just focus on MMA or boxing.

I will gently disagree with this.

I've never seen this behavior among middle class blacks.
I've never seen this behavior among lower class blacks.
And I certainly don't see it among upper class blacks, who don't even ride the bus.

This is welfare class only behavior. And even rare among that class.

I do not see this behavior proliferating. Cheap camera phones and the money of youtube viewer hits means outlier crazy behavior is more likely to be recorded and posted to the internet for $$$. But even among the welfare class it's pretty damn rare behavior. Everyone knows if you fight on the bus, you're banned, your pass is cancelled, and your only option left is walking those miles and miles.

And as many, many people have already expressed in this thread, her skin color is irrelevant. Her choice of social class self-identification is not. Her extremely irrational choice to favor fighting fellow bus riders in an attempt to elevate her reputation among her welfare class circle instead of caring for the safety of her child can not be projected onto non-insane, normal, functional people that may share the same skin color and possibly even the same immigration heritage, but have chosen to live by better, higher, social class rules.

I want to believe you but the odds are against him. Just look at Chicago. Southside is a warzone. How many Derrick Rose's really make it out that shit hole?

Best thing the world can do is stop making babies. Hopefully the male birthcontrol will curb this shit. Babies making babies lead to women who throw their children because they feel disrespected.

This is a good point. Just because you see lots of videos of this kind of thing happening does not mean that is is a common thing. The media can control your perception of something just by increasing the number of stories that get reported, this does not mean that a particular situation or occurrence is increasing rather people take a greater interest in its occurrence.
Here in New Zealand the media loves to publish and show stories about dog attacks on children thus putting pressure on the government to ban or limit dangerous dog breeds. This gives the perception that such attacks are not only common but are increasing when in fact they are statistically decreasing.
Of course the above video was not captured or released by the media but because videos can be so easily taken and uploaded on the internet you will see a greater number of these videos.

I've never lived in the hood, but it may be that people living there become particularly sensitive to what they perceive to be disrespect-expressing acts because respect -- everyday respect that people elsewhere take for granted -- is all too often withheld there.
