RE: New High School Trend - Hallway Swimming
American memes and trends are so contrived and manufactured. You see this shit and you're supposed to like it, and if you don't then you will once it gets plugged on all the news and blogs and your facebook "friends" share it nonstop.

The internet gives such a diversity of thought/views but most sheeple are consuming the same shit. It's becoming like television.

Yes, Americans are such followers. Everybody just copies each other. Very little independent thought.

Then the world them copies us. We really are like sheep.

Everyone just blindly follows the leader.

Be a leader.

Anything to get that 20 minutes of cardio activity per day in, I guess. This is what happens when recess is 15 minutes of hackey sack out front next to the dumpsters.

The lack of originality is the worst thing. Even in the video above they've copied the format of the Harlem Shake shite instead of thinking up something for themselves, even to the point where at the end the video goes in slow motion for a second or two.

The talentless copy the talented in their own efforts to get noticed. for example:

Macklemore - Thrift Shop: 230m views

Some unoriginal dickhead - Thrift Shop Parody: 3.4m views

"Pot Shop" - Thrift Shop Parody: 8.5m views

The worst thing is that there's so many of them out there. If I'm right, it's about £2000 you make per 1m views if you monetise your account (I think it's £2.50 per 1k views) so these people, if I'm right, are making coin on the back of other people's success by not thinking of anything for themselves. The next big song comes out, the same people do the same shit. It especially happened with that fucking gagnam style bollocks.

It seems as if all these trends are invented with the idea to get exposure on the internet. Very few trends today spark out of people doing their own thing that gradually catch on.

Look at the bright side:

1. At least they're doing this in real life and not virtually, on a computer, on Facebook, or on an iPhone.

2. At least they're doing it for fun, and not to ingratiate themselves with some miscellaneous 6, in hopes that the public pedestalization will convince her to go to prom, marry them, or take them back.

3. At least this requires some degree of skill, unlike the cliches that vapid chicks do as a matter of routine in their online universes.

Attention whoring is definitely becoming ingrained in the culture. I think the impulse has always been there, but the internet makes it so much easier to actually act on that.

Wrong. You should be terrified.

I believe Roosh himself linked this businessweek article on his blok or ROK. It's about companies discriminating against workers who don't fit in socially.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/201...cations#p2

Wait till the hallway swimmers are hiring. Will they hire a smart productive guy who will make them look bad or more hallway surfers?

You think the hallway surfers are bad? Wait until elaborate prom proposal guy is in the workforce. Think about what he thinks of the productive intelligent guy who can actually accomplish things.

BTW, when their company fails they'll cry to the government and demand a bailout in exchange for contributing to the right party so don't think the free market will save the productive worker. America is being turned into a giant preschool with milk and cookies but no hurt feelings for all. It's all good until the dollar loses reserve status and we actually have to pay for all of it.

When people are doing the same movement together they get a pleasant feeling of group solidarity. We're built to feel good doing syncronyzed movements. The military picked up on this long ago.

We even feel good watching other groups do syncronized movements. The movie industry knows it. How many movies have people breaking out into syncronized dance?

Good on them for being social and active. It doesn't disturb me in the least that their activity is simple.

My first boss was like this. Total fucking dweeb beta who did not like me because I outshone him in productivity and refused to stroke his ego. And snickered when he'd make goo-goo gaa-gaa baby talk voices to his wife on the phone at work.

Thank god I got transferred at the request of my current boss, a huge red pill misanthrope asshole. The first year I worked for him, I was scared shitless of him, but now I appreciate every day I spend at work with him. I don't think I'll have another boss like that again.

I still don't understand this whole "mustache tattoo on hand" thing.

Can someone break this down for me?

Every time I see it, it makes me want to mix battery acid and heroin and shoot it in my veins.

(I have yet to see it with my own eyes in real life, but I have seen it on the internet one too many times).

Come to think of it, I still don't really get what a "hipster" is.

Can someone tackle that one too?

I am trying to stay relevant over here.

Yes. This.
Tuth, you remember the link someone posted here to that chick website - the female RVF -- where they had about 400 threads on Kim Kardashian, a what are you wearing today thread and a thread titled "type 5 letters fast." Astonishingly enough that 5 letters thread had over 2,000 responses. Most were like this: "oh my God. I got ... pshjw"

It was brutally stupid, yet oddly fascinating. I can never find it in search.

It used to be that every generation got "crazier and crazier", partying harder and changing conventional social norms, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Now, it seems the younger generation(young teens to early twenties), is getting gayer and gayer.

Lol man that's kind of hard to explain if you're older or don't see them around all the time. Hipsters are people that try very hard to be "ironic" and like different types of goofy shit to be "different" and "unique". Examples would be wearing Where's Waldo glasses, grandpa fedora hats, stretching their earlobes, getting retarded tattoos such as a sliced open avocado (I actually seen someone with this tonight), growing huge mustaches that curl up on the ends, listening to 1940's music and also lil Wayne, drinking the cheapest hobo beer because it's cool to be poor, shopping at thrift stores to be "cool". It would be no problem if one person did this with no influence from anyone else but they ALL look the exact same, listen to the same shit and look down on people who don't follow these dumb trends.

One tip I can put forward to distinguish a hipster from an actual redneck is that hipsters have chicken legs and wear layers to fill out their muscle-wasted figures.
Most rednecks would look at least passable in a wife beater and cutoff jeans.

Yeah, they found a new way to have fun in their environment without spending more money or having someone be the butt of the joke. Stoicism is overrated.
