I've read all his other books except the one with 50 cent, I'm curious to see if this one is as good as the others. The quotes Roosh posted look amazingly on-point.

Downloaded it after reading Master Roosh's endorsement. I read the book in three days, almost non-stop. And goddammit the book has provoked a spiritual crisis within me. Now I wonder if my life has meaning, if I've just been spinning my wheels for most of the years I've been alive. And I've resolved to change.
Which is the intention of the author.....

Read it, liked it not as much as his other books.

Still fun and inspiring historic bios, but a little strong on the 'find your passion' advice, which, in my opinion, is heavily flawed.

The only other one of his books I've read is THE 48 LAWS. I bought it at a Boarders' when it first came out and tried to apply it's principles right away.
Bad mistake.
I was so disappointed by the results that I ended up tossing it in the trash.
THE 48 LAWS is not a "what" book, but a "how" book. If you do not have your shit together before you try to apply the teachings and observations in that book, you will become a train wreck.
So I recommend reading MASTERY first, because it helps you find focus. Something I so desperately lack.

I could see that.

He does make it pretty clear that it is about navigating the world of "the court", so that would imply you already have to be in "The Game".

I read a couple of chapters at the book store the other day. I thought it was good and more relevant to modern day than his other books. I like art of seduction and 48 laws of power but some of the material is hard to relate to modern day life. everything was historical and not anything in our lifetime but none the less a good read

Bought it shortly after it came out. Read a few chapters and haven't read it since. I feel like I wasted my money.

The only book I really liked out of all 4 is the 50th law. In fact the 50th law planted the seed in my head that eventually led me here.

I don't like any of his other books. I find him overly wordy and I don't like his writing style. I like the IDEA behind his book, just not the actual substance.

He gets paid either way; clearly I'm a sucker.

I purchased the Kindle version

Amazon recommends that publishers set a max price of $9.99 for the Kindle version of their books. However publishers are allowed to set a price above that recommendation. You ever hear of the lawsuit alleging collusion between book publishers to set a certain price above Amazon's recommendation?

Right or wrong I view the maximum value of a Kindle book at $9.99.

I paid more than $9.99.

As I mentioned earlier, apart from "The 50th law" I don't find Robert Greene's writing to be worth the money at ANY price point above FREE. I love the idea and concept, but the execution... no me gusta.

It's really all about personal preference. Your mileage may vary.

So i read the book but I have one complain about it. The author does not teach you how to think in the moment when trying to learn something. He says that thinking how to make money with the thing that you love doing is going to cloud your concentration and the time you spent on will be significantly less.

So how do you get in to that "flow" state where you forget about everything else and just concentrate on the task that you want to do?

You have to first examine your life and identify the activities that put you into a "flow".

It is different for everyone. For some people its getting into nature. For others its making music, or gardening, or cooking, or meditating, or shooting guns, or being with animals.

For me, its playing ball, swimming, smoking weed, sex, and walking to the top of mountains.

What are the activities that make you happy and relaxed? Thats where I would start.

The thing that people misunderstand about this book is that they think it's a step-by-step guide to achieve greatness.

It is not.

It is a guide, but not a step-by-step guide.

RG's Power and War books are my favourite two books. They actually changed my life…so much so that I had to buy new copies a year or so back as the old ones were destroyed with wear.

Mastery never clicked with me though. I can't even put my finger on why exactly. It's odd.

I never saw 48 Laws as a 'how to' but more of a 'this is how powerful people really operate' book.

Mastery and the 50th Law are by far his best books.

If someone was totally unfamiliar with his work, I'd recommend starting with Mastery, because that teaches you how to get on the right path to power in the first place. The lesson about "avoiding the false path" in the first chapter is worth the price alone.

I read his first 3 books in college but was not in a position to employ the lessons in them, and even if I had been, I was just too young and dumb to do so effectively. The Art of Seduction was the first "game" book I ever read. Anyone who's read it knows that's not the best place to start.

As G and Col Spanker alluded to- the earlier works, especially 48 Laws, are better for when you're already on the right path and playing the game you should be.

I've only listened to the audio book and I enjoyed for the most part. However I didn't gain incredible insight into greatness as some of his fans would lead you to believe. Of course this is subjective, what resonates with me may not necessarily resonate with you and vice versa.

I did particularly enjoy the anecdotal stories of people who achieved mastery in their craft, especially the one about Freddie Roach. The thing I took from this book is that there is no easy path, mastery at anything requires reps, it doesn't matter who you are. For a lot of my life I assumed that some people just have a gift for certain things and they don'y have to work as hard as others. I still believe that certain people are more inclined towards certain things e.g. music and maths but greatness is only achieved through hours of practice.

There is no bio-hack for greatness just cum, sweat and tears.

The 48 Laws are a playbook. But reading a playbook doesn't make you a good player. And you can't be a player if you don't have table stakes.
