It can't be genetics only ... there has to be something in the culture that discourages sports and physical activity.

Bit difficult to boil it down to genetics, when the country is a melting pot of over 2000 different ethnic groups and numerous languages. India was never ever one country until the British unified it as so.

First part of your post is partially correct concerning diet, however when it comes to sport India has a long history of contact sports such as wrestling. Where do you think the Hindu Squats and Hindu Pushups come from? Not sure if it still is but the Hindu squat was a punishment in schools where pupils would have to hold their ears whilst performing the squat up to a 100 times.

The second part is totally incorrect. Twenty20 is the most popular form of cricket in South Asia, their Indian Premier League brand is worth around $5 Billion. The average attendance for the 80 odd games is only second to the NFL worldwide. Seems popular to me.

I believe the beta-ness of the average citizen/number of betas is directly related to culture in general & the economic conditions of the country.

From my observations, any system which champions community social acceptance over independence & individuality will produce more betas. In these cultures " settling" is the norm. Your hopes and dreams mean nothing. You " settle" for a standard set by society.

Economic conditions in country affect betaness too.

For instance if the citizens of a country are too comfortable, they are likely to be beta.

Check out Scandinavian in particular Swedish, Norwegian and Danish men dude !! It is painful how beta they are. American betas are beta because of lack of confidence mostly. Scandinavian betas are beta because ... well everyone is just beta. They could be confident as fuck but there is till this softness about them . Why ? Because they can afford to be beta !

They are soft because the welfare state caters to their every whim and they never had to worry or struggle for anything.

Compare that to countries in South America. These countries are poor, their citizens have seen poverty, violence and have to struggle. Being beta gets you killed. As a result , i have met very few South Americans who are beta.

In conclusion, Betaness is a function of culture, economic condition & lastly personality. But i think the first two have a much higher impact. It is harder to become Alpha if you grew up in a traditional family in Southern India. It is easier to become Alpha if you grew up in a small village in Ukraine.

I'm not sure I agree with Indians being beta. I spent some time travelling through India and noticed some alpha traits. I got the feeling a lot of Indians have no fear approaching and striking up conversations with strangers and indians don't care about being turned down/rejected.

Western girls travelling through India without a boyfriend are constantly hit on, I mean like every few minutes if they are hot. I saw a hot blonde girl at the Taj Mahal get approached by about 10 different indian guys.

Maybe it's different with Indian guys inside India, they think western girls are easy and have no problems walking up to them and trying their luck.

I thought this was curious since some Indian subcultures seem quite physical.
I had been recently reading about the Gurkhas (who were mainly Nepali):

BTW a lot of the IRTs in the US that you see are the Indian nerds, they're the engineering types. Even a lot of the Indian Americans are raised to be beta by their nerdy parents.

Indians whose families are non-academic, such as many of the British Indians and Canadians tend not to be beta. There's a big Indian gang problem in Canada.
