This sound like when you hear women tell guys who have trouble with women "Just be yourself".
If I was just going to "be myself", I'd be nowhere in the game. It takes a lot of work to turn your life around. I've had to alter almost everything- I've changed my body language, I walk differently, my voice is lower, I've built more muscle, I've increased my sense of style, I've busted my ass in what seems like countless hours at the bar and online, I go against my anxiety and have re-shaped or released my instincts to approach women and not to fear rejection.
Yes, relax and be smooth. Easier said than done.

He didn't even get one per month. It's clear to me that he was delusional. Ironically, this may have helped him endure dry spells.
Mystery's background in magic helps explain his method. Magicians are typically nerds who seek social validation. They learn magic routines to fool, surprise, and entertain people. This philosophy carries over to "pick-up lines" and routines. The problem with this Aspie approach is the bad internal mindset that you can fool people into liking you.
Mystery's background also explains the marketing. Magic has a sordid commercial aspect of misrepresenting tricks. Dealers understate the requisite skill and exaggerate the applicability of tricks. Some tricks can only be performed wearing long sleeves, seated, or with gimmicked cards, after 50 hours of practice. So Mystery markets his L.A. club game as a universal panacea.
I think the Mystery Method book was actually written by Lovedrop. IMO, Mystery's main contribution was the idea that game can be learned as a skill, and broken into distinct "tricks" for different situations.

What are some techniques that have helped you become more relaxed and smooth?
Get high, drink, think about all the girls I've been with and how I can't be that ugly if we fucked, make myself talk slow, wear clothes that I feel comfortable in, working out. I try to think before I talk and always think of the Nike commercials "Just do it" if I feel nervous. I have been homeless and been in all kinds of crazy shit so I just tell myself not to let a pussy and tits make my heart beat fast. The worst thing a girl can do is walk away.

I realize that most guys can't be themselves because they don't know how to be cool and laid back. I didn't know it was that hard for you to be cool as an ice cube soup. Did you get offended that I said to be smooth lol. Use techniques and moves if they work for you, I can't do that.
I use 'techniques' until I internalize the behavior and don't have to think about it anymore. There are times when I do relapse, but I get more solid with every passing year. I think that game is also helping my dick to grow. I know this sounds weird, but since I've started implementing all the stuff I've learned, my dick has gotten thicker. What the fuck is up with that? Anyone else notice something like that? Maybe it's just from getting older. I'd be curious to know if there is a connection between getting good at game and dick growth. That would be nuts.
Anyway, not offended, I just think it's important to remember where you are coming from. Because, you never know- you might be back in that kind of position at some point in the future.
Soup, for the record, I have to say that you might have the most amazing avatar in forum history.

My question is this:
Why did it take a guy with goggles on his head and eyeliner to get you to do that?
I guess that is my disconnect. Wouldn't "life" itself get you to do that?
I mean hell, by 7th grade, I told myself "I better figure this sh*t out". By high school, I was well on my way. Senior year, swooping cheerleaders.
For us guys that figured it out "on their own" it sounds ridiculous when kids call Mystery a "pioneer".
Personally I would just skip the cheap knockoff and go to the true source, but maybe that is just me.
It is probably easier to just read an e-book for people these days.

RE: Mystery's Actual Results
I started w/MM. I think it helped me get on the path. W/out that ebook pirated from a torrent site in my teens, I woulda been much worse off than I am now. +1 to Mystery
I grew up as an only child, sheltered, and very much brain-washed and indoctrinated by LAUSD (Los Angles Unified School District). Going to the source was not an option.
The #1 benefit was that rejection from girls is not equal death/brutal embarassment. Sounds stupid, but most guys in their twenties STILL have this. Edit- this seems to echo what Emech says. Dudes are scared of everything.
That probably why you see so much of bottle services, wallflowers, and guys getting wasted.
@G- you were precocious as a kid. Boxing and surfing probably helped. Growing up in hyper-masculine cultures opens your eyes. Most younger people grew up in a different era. Hell, I didn't start swooping girls properly until beginning of college.
WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

Here's your answer: does it matter? For whatever reason, life itself did not give me what I wanted. I didn't just read Mystery. I checked out, and still do check out as much as I can.
My question for you is why do you have so much against those guys. Do you have a personal beef with them?

No need to get angry and bent out of shape, it was just a question.
Don't get all jumpy and spazzy on me.
No hate for the guy, I already made clear that I don't care about him.
I am just trying to help you guys see the light.
Don't go for the cheap knockoffs.
To make it more clear for you, you are saying that Chris Brown is the greatest soul singer of all time.
I am telling you to look into the history of soul.

That's bullshit. Who does this? If a girl is hot enough to approach she's good enough to close. That's a way to say he couldn't pull.
