It's a great story MichaelC and I just wanna say that it is inspiring to say the least. About the process of green card and 18th month follow-up you mentioned above, I wonder if there is something similar like this in Canada?

I heard of both disaster stories and success stories of bringing ("importing") an Eastern Europe (EE) girl to Canada. Some guys go to Poland/Czech and bring a hottie over to Canada to marry them and then they get screwed over soon after marriage or once she is a citizen. On the other hand, I have personally known of successful marriages where the guy has either met the hottie while in Europe on vacation, or more frequently, he met her while she was on a 12-month working or studying visa in Canada. Then, they had to get married pretty quickly in order for her to legally stay in the country. Then she would get the Permanent Resident status. One friend of mine met his Russian wife while she was working at the Russian pavilion during the Vancouver 2010 olympics. They are still together and seem happy. So, yes this does happen. I have always been wary of doing anything like this, since I've been told a few horror stories about guys getting taken advantage of when I was younger, but I am thinking that I should reconsider my thoughts now on this after seeing some successful relationship form that way.

One other thing I wanted to add is that I think it is crucial, as mentioned by Michael and others, that she will be in the 18 - 23 range. Any older (say a 28 year old) and you will be getting into more attitude, more baggage, more western toxic culture exposure, more cynicism on her part, etc.

They asked shit like what names r the bills in, where did u get married, do u plan to go back to Latvia, they asked her what my favorite food was, color etc. then they played a "trick" on us and 3 of our friends (the other au pairs that married Americans) too. The agent says she needs to make copies and leaves the room but left the video camera on to sit there and listen to what we said when the agent was out of the room. They tried the same copy trick on 3 of our friends. When the agent left, we sat there and didn't say a word, we knew their game.

The press and popular culture has done an unreal smear job on marrying foreign women. It is incredibly sad and the return of kings link I cited earlier really explains a lot very well.

Regarding a prior post from a guy that said that a lot of the au pairs come here for husbands, hell yeah they do, and even the fins and Germans that don't come here for a husband put out like rabbits. I think it would be as hard as approaching local girls at a bar.
It's because guys don't care about her status, being fluent english etc. If they are hot, they will get the same amount of attention as local american girls so it will influence their behavior.

It would be easier to hit them from social circle or in some public areas. I don't know how to find them though.

Update, just to close the loop on this thread.....after being with the Latvian for 14 years and married for 12.5, the divorce is now final. Ended up with no kids and will be a clean break, though we were just about to have some. I tell you though once the lawyers got involved, what was amicable became ugly to a point that I couldn't have never imagined. I guess the hardest thing to get your mind around is that after 14 years of being with someone, because you have no kids, I will most likely never see or speak to her again, just feels weird. I am 44 now and she is 34. I will tell you this though, she was a spectacular wife in every way, but sometimes you just take things for granted to such a level you kind of lose touch, so ultimately if blame was to be assigned, though she wasn't perfect, I am the main reason the divorce occurred. Read some stats that I was floored by 75% of all divorces are initiated by the wives, and 66% of all divorced couples are childless. Cheers all, single for the first time in 14 years.

Yeah, I would date another EE girl again, but probably never marry one, I was with her from when she was 19 to 34, and I was 10 years older than her and fairly successful, so I kind of raised her and guided her career and she was such a hard worker that she just needed to be pointed in the right direction and given the right mentoring to succeed. If you end up with an EE girl that is still that young and hasn't been hardened like so many of them have in later age then yeah I'd date them seriously again. I think the biggest issue for me personally was that for the first 7-8 years of the marriage, she depended on me for everything, and the last 3-5 years she was a highly successful professional, and I think I always saw her as the Latvian girl that I met when she was 19, couldn't speak English, no education, had nothing, etc and I never completely changed my perception of her to give her the respect of who she had become. Any American girl would have bailed years ago, she stuck it out the last 3-4 years really wanting things to work, but as a typical guy I figured she'll never leave if she was going to she would have years ago. But everyone eventually reaches a point, and her turning 34 and having no kids I think gave her a bit of a mid life crisis, and I think she sat back and made a hardened business decision, she thought to herself, "Ok, I have done everything possible to try and save things, I have stuck it out, I have no kids and I gotta figure out if this is gonna work ASAP and if I don't think it is bc I am 34 I can't wait much longer." I think she sat back and made the call to leave, hell I was nice even helped moved her out, I figured she had earned it. I even folded in the divorce out of guilt and let her have almost everything she wanted, because I knew she honestly was a good wife, and I couldn't have asked anymore from her. I folded out of guilt on the financials, I am sure I will regret that someday. I also learned that Divorce Lawyers really are evil monsters..

Yeah her making bank and getting respect from peers etc made things tougher bc she started to demand more say in things, which honestly was probably her right, but it was very hard for me to ever cede/modify the power balance in the relationship that had persisted for so many years. It was all good and bad, good that I finally learned to not take things for granted, which is a great life lesson, bad because I had to wait until I was 44 for the wakeup call. I always kind of saw her as the girl that I saved mentored and built instead of seeing her for a successful professional that she was now, my perception of her and the power balance in the marriage should have changed in time but it didn't.

So some advice from obvious long term experience is if you get lucky enough to get a young beautiful hard working EE girl, for many years she will depend on you for everything, but then if she starts to succeed in life, you need to be able to realize the situation is now different from the little girl of yesteryear and treat her as the equal that she now commands and deserves, and for me that was tough. Yes, I heavily regret it now, but the past is the past and it can't be changed. Hopefully some you guys will read all this and you won't make the same mistake I made. That's why I posted this "Follow Up" really to try and pass the knowledge and my history with something that a lot of you guys talk about EE women.

I guess you can't blame her since she traded her youth to be with you. (missed all the fun a young girl could have) But she understood the deal and made a correct decision I believe. Now instead of being some lativan woman in her mid 30's, she now speaks English and is more educated.

This is just a human nature. It's a lot easier for you if you let it as it is. When did we start talking back to our parents because we figured now we know enough about life? I am sure all parents felt betrayed after they did things for us unconditionally. I have a guilt in my stomach time to time but what can I do? live my life for them?

Sorry it didn't work out. I do believe that having children is the main reason for marriage and not having any for 15 years, while encouraging her to work on her career - that's a minefield. If she'd had kids, there still may have been a divorce eventually, but likely the marriage would have lasted longer, and at least you would have had kids.

In general I think marriage is a 10 year thing, give or take. It's meant to tie a couple together long enough for the man to provide resources long enough to get a couple of offspring off the launch pad. After a few years, both of you are different people and the whole thing has to be renegotiated. In the absence of strong social and economic pressure to stay together, a lot of the time the relationship will end naturally.

I go into everything I do assuming it's impermanent. During down times I hold onto the belief that my luck will eventually come around. So far that's always been true. During the good times I try to savor them as much as possible because I know they won't last forever. The latter is not a cynical or defeatist attitude. It's realistic. You were smart enough to get the prenup so you had to know in the back of your mind this was a potential outcome. I wouldn't be kicking yourself. Consider the glass half-full.

I'm not getting how you think this is a troll post. The OP is just telling us his experiences of finding an EE girl and being married for 15 years and how it failed in the end. You may not appreciate his experience but at least he's giving us his raw, unadulterated story which a lot of guys here can benefit from, especially given the EE angle which is of particular interest to members of this forum. If you have experience in a marriage, I'd love to hear your story. Otherwise, let guys who have actually gone through it tell their story whether it suits you or not.

I am going to also have to disagree with Corleone about going to London to date Eastern Europeans. I would just go live in a city in Eastern Europe. Go talk to the University girls, take a few classes at Uni over there. Prague was paradise for me, but I think Roosh is having a great time in Romania, so, he would say Romania is better. The point is the girls, hands down, blow American chicks out of the water. Because of globalization there are some adopting more American attitudes from the capital cities. I say the best girls are the country girls. I say also to date only 18-23, after that you don't know what baggage you are getting. Russian girls, and Ukraine girls are good too, a little different, but still good.

You are wise beyond your age and i say it as a complement. There is much more long term value in having a great family and an emotional support than banging some chicks you met in the bar who bangs a new a guy every week.
