Had a discussion with a friend about this topic a few days ago, which led me to this forum. As most Apple users know, the default setting on i0S5 regardless of which Iphone model, is iMessage.

These iMessages can be sent via Apple-to-Apple devices (iPads as well), but for simplicity sake, we'll assume the woman you are texting has an iPhone and is using iMessage. I've noticed most women in the 21-34 age bracket generally have iPhones.

The problem with it - iMessage shows exactly how long you are texting via three dots that appear on the screen. If you start a reply, then shorten it, or change it to "ok", if she has the text screen activated, given she's at least average intelligence, she knows you've spent some time on that.

Meaning, it could be a sign of insecurity.

If you start a reply, then decide you don't want to send it at the moment, that is seen as well. It can apply to really anything, I don't think it's necessary and it's also rumored the next step will be real-time texting (where they see every word you type out as its typed or has been autocorrected), but I think there would be too much revolt if that happened.

I personally don't like iPhones in general and recently switched back to droid, but I do wonder members of this forum think about this.

With iMessage, your initial reply almost has to be perfect everytime in my opinion. Has anyone else ever thought about this?

I like iMessage. You know right away if they have an iPhone. Gives you info about her.
Gives you something to chat about. It works international if you message foreign chicks.
It works over wifi if you're in a dead zone at work. Doesn't count against your text message
count if you don't have the unlimited plan. What's not to like?

If you're really that concerned about it then type it out in the notes app and copy and paste it in. She'll think you have amazingly fast thumbs. Otherwise listen to G and just fucking call her.

I'm back on droid now...I didn't like how restrictive the Iphone was. For example, you cannot adjust the white balance before taking a picture, can never truly erase a contact unless you reset the phone.

Cue up a text message, then next to that person, when the cursor is active, type in the first letter of someone you deleted from your contacts. There's some people you sometimes just wanna forget about.

Another thing, iMessage can use up quite a bit of data if you are sending pics and not on wifi. I'll admit, the blue bubbles do look better than green.

If you call too soon, it's potential "creep" category as well. She might think you're obsessed with her.

I don't agree with it either, but the standard protocol is usually texting at first.

Keep a notebook and write down your rough ideas about the reply you're going to send.

Make as many corrections as you want, use as many pages as you want.

When you want to reply back, just transcribe what you wrote on the paper to text.

This way she'll never find out how long you are taking/whether you are delaying intentionally etc etc.

Simple, isn't it?

It is...but also just too many hoops to jump through to send a text. Invoking the use of a notebook, copy/pasting via notepad (which can be a bit tricky), etc.

Maybe not for everyone, but it can register differently when you see it in the actual text screen.

I have an iPhone and this is a non issue. The three dots only show up when you're typing a reply so the easy answer to this is: Wait a while before replying! By the time you get around to replying (since you're busy and have lots of other things going...right?) she will have closed your text thread and will have no way of knowing how long it took you to type your message.

man i wasnt even arsed about this when i had an iphone, why are you worrying about if a girls sees how long it takes you text or if you've read her message. So fucking what? Just because I've read a text it does not mean it needs an instantaneous response.

This. If you assume she keeps your text message thread open on her phone long enough to see the indicator that you are typing you are incorrect. The way ladies are with their iPhones, by the time she is done with the text she has already moved onto another text or app on her phone.

I like iphone Imessage. I especially like when girls text me and they see that I "read" their message but never responded to it. Haha. Turn the tables in your favor. Put the hamster to work.

I think a lot of guys problems is that they care to much. Stop caring. Even when I'm beta I'm alpha.
