I would like to bring this up....Its been on my mind alot over the last year...with respects to game. I dont have an opinion, but I would like to hear some of you guys outlook on game, and how it effects your faith and religions beliefs.

A few times in my life when I was younger I tried to force myself to become religious ... to follow the traditions, to read the books, and to think about god. I thought that religion could provide me with more structure in my life to fall back on. It never really worked out - in the back of my mind I always knew that I was faking it. I can't believe in god. Its just not inside of me. I am really interested to learn about other people's faiths, though, and how you became religious ?

Were you raised that way? Did you question religion? Or did you become religious later on in life? Why?

drugs are a shortcut to seeing the spiritual, and that's coming from me who was a hardcore atheist.

tripping on hallucinogens makes you see the oneness (tao, brahman, etc) & the spiritual energy forces at work. only when you're ready for it though do these little doors into the infinite open up to you for a little bit.

this shit has helped me better understand myself and others A LOT better, and to confront my fears and shortcomings to become a better human. it helps me to find a bit of inner peace too, especially to overcome depression, anxiety, fear and hate.

religion is a journey I feel one must make on their own through their own empirical research, contemplation and practice. fuck organized religion. all the "greats" were 100% independent guys who dared to break free from the status quo and be a leader: the Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, etc. as soon as anything spiritual gets "organized" it deteriorates due to the self-destructiveness inherent in man.

I have never tried any drugs besides weed (if you consider that a drug), so Im very curious about this. Did you try drugs with the intent of becoming more spiritual, or was that something that came as a side effect of the recreational side? How did it help you confront your fears?

complete side effect of it. like i said, unless "you're ready" (whatever that means) the doors of perception just don't open for you

in terms of confront your fears its hard to put into words. i guess you could say by making you more fully aware of yourself, you become more capable. and also, you may realize how things that are holding you back are really so inconsequential and stupid that you dont see how they could hold you back. and on the flip side, if you align yourself with the tao, then the tao is on your side, and that's a creative energy that keeps you going like the energizer bunny. haha.

but its not like you can take psychedelics or something and get this 'wisdom' you gotta be ready for it like I said, and you gotta supplement your epiphanies with a lot of sober contemplation and research to get the most out of it.

I was born into Buddhism.
Learned be to at peace with myself with all my flaws.
Not needing to making myself feel better by buying things as opposed to knowing who i am and understanding my emotions and how they sometimes can betray you in a situation.
Really not caring at all if a girl returns my text/call.
Not allowing myself to be manipulated by people (guys and girls)

I met a guy who had just return from like 8 years in Thailand...we talked for hours....and he said almost word for word what yo u said about psychedelics. He told me its mind blowing even once your sober and pondering over the experience.

Most members of this forum dont have a religion so they dont feel a conflict of interest in breaking or bending commandments. On a similar note:

I grew up with a Muslim father and a Catholic mother, ironically I grew up catholic bc my dads family was open minded and my mothers family wasnt. Because the people in my dads family loved talking spirituality and also to pick on me while young they would ask me critical questions like "what religion is right?" and follow up with "but if its the same god why arent they both right?" when I would naively spurt out "Catholic is right because it just is." Do all 9 year olds have hamster logic or is it just me? Over the years it pushed my mind to asking questions rather than simply taking in dogma.

Years of accepting dogma without question takes a long time to undo but i challenge any religious person by asking, "how can you truly say you are catholic, muslim, etc. if you havent studied other religions? A more powerful statement/commitment to god would be studying every major world religion and committing to the one you currently follow because you can honestly say 'I studied every major world religion and I am a catholic, muslim, etc.' because I know it is the true religion." Im flabbergasted people wouldnt make this commitment to themselves and their God, after all it IS their eternal soul at stake.

You can watch them both on netflix and theyre great entertaining movies to watch. Do this with an open mind and youll be closer to finding God than you would just listening to some pastor who just spews interpretations of 1000 yr old text he cant fully understand. Religulous is a great movie, it's currently my favorite date movie and even die hard religious chicks cant help but laugh when bill maher cracks jokes.
