In light of the events over the last 48+ hours, it has become obvious that her actions have strongly divided the same community she was supposed to unite. As a result, she can no longer be effective in her role at SendGrid.

In the end, the consequences that resulted from how she reported the conduct put our business in danger. Our commitment to our 130 employees, their families, our community members and our more than 130,000 valued customers is our primary concern.

Nope. According to her website, she's an "Organic Technology Consultant, Trainer, Speaker and blogger."

Silicon Valley succeeded because *men*, and in all fairness as a child of immigrants mostly white Anglo men, like William Shockley, Robert Noyce, Jack Kilby, Gordon Moore etc. built it up from nothing.

Now that it's being neutered for the sake of sensitivity to women and equal opportunity, we can expect the technology golden goose to die like all of America's other industries.

I'm sorry for not joining the celebration but I don't see anything good coming out of this unfortunately.

The guys that got fired will fade into obscurity. Hopefully they will get new jobs but probably not in a while until the immediate storm has died down.

Adria Richards on the other hand is already a feminist icon and can probably coast on that for a long time. Maybe she'll just give seminars on how the patriarchy forced her out of her job for speaking out. While it's all good that she lost her job her fellow feminazis will help her on her feet quick.

No this is just a sad loss for free speech. You can be held accountable for being "not cool" in the kangaroo court that is social media.

If Richards was a developer, Sendgrid would not have fired her. They'd have forced her to make a public apology and say some standard formula stuff about her views not representing the views of the company etc., and would not let her attend any more conferences. She's in public relations. She tanked her own reputation with this stunt, which undermines her ability to do her job.

Frankly, the vast majority of blame for this whole debacle is reserved for the white-knighting manboob CEO of PlayHaven and anyone else involved in the firing. It was their cowardice and lack of principle or perspective that caused the incident to escalate. Without them, Richards would just be getting standard issue shit for being an offense-trolling attention whore and might even still have her job.

Anonymous is on the attack against Adria Richards.


We believe People of all races and sexes should be treated equally. Ms. Richards doesn't share this belief. We feel it is only right that we show you her perspective of fair treatment. She feels that is it okay for a black person to hate on white people. To us, this sounds like justifying hatred and other uncivil behaviors. Also, to get an innocent man fired for an arguably sexist joke and a misinterpreted statement, yet freely making jokes that are sexist towards men. Since Ms. Richards finds it safe to expose people for minor things, we feel it right that she is exposed for what she has said. Your actions must be accounted for.

Sendgrid did the right thing. They had no chance to do anything about it until it blew up, and then it got out of hand pretty quickly. A next-day firing is incredibly prompt given that they were also dealing with DDOS at the same time.

Some RVF people might be in her city, but I couldn't imagine anyone of us sitting through her non-stop jabbering and annoying voice. Plus she makes those awful "snap" sounds with her mouth between sentences. I hate when women do that.
