The word "Cougar" is a meme spread by people supporting the female imperative to try to get men to date and marry/support older women who are at the tail end or past their fertility years. These people try to claim that men in general are just as attracted to older women as they are to younger women because they're trying to change biology to fit their political/social agenda. At least one academic study finds that the Cougar meme is a myth.

You can use whatever word you want to, of course. But, I think a better word for older women who still have some sexual attractiveness is "MILF". Even if they're not an actual Mom, they're in the mom age group.
