Its funny because most forum members here would explain feminism as the reason for all the fat lesbians and thin gay men. After all feminism which is at the core of most lesbians ideals works to disapprove of any emphasis on caring about physical appearances by associating vanity as giving into male patriarchy. However, gay men don´t adhere to feminist ideology and as guys care about getting laid and quite logically realize being fat decreases their options hence the low rates of obesity within them as a demographic. Alas, something tells me the government will spend 1.5 million and still come up short of the desired PC answer to explain this phenomenon.

A fit female body looks, well, feminine, which is a feature they're trying to wish away or, at least, bury under baggy clothing, a masculine gait, or layers of fat. It's the exact same reason they cut their hair short.

Reason 1:
The lesbians who are FALF's (Fat Angry Lesbian Feminists) see being fat and ugly as a political statement.

Reason 2:
In contrast to most gay men they basically hate being the gender they are, female. That's why they project this hate on others and claim all sorts of misogyny were there is none. Since they can't reasonably be male (For those believing in reincarnation - at least not in this lifetime) the best they can do is be as "un-female" as they can manage.

You can often see a progression as FALF's age. They get MORE fat and ugly relative to their same age non-FALF peers as time ticks on. As an example check out someone who was absolutely hideous in her later years (and apparently proud of the fact), and compare to a pic of her when she was younger.
