4K? = Chicago.
Money doesn't matter? = NYC.

All things being equal, yes.

But he has already spent a summer in Chi.

That was 4k after tax. Still 2k after rent, unless you’re eating put every day I don't see the problem with NYC.

As Vicious points out, $4k is after tax. Seeing as a decent houseshare seems to be $1500 in manhattan that leaves $2500. Which seems like plenty to have fun with knowing my tastes

I don't have any interest in fancy places tbh. I like hipster type dive bars and pubs tbh.

I'm trying my best to line it up so I have 3 months in NYC and 3 in Chi. I am waiting on second reply from a guy for a really cool place in Williamsburg. It's in the heart of Williamsburg, furnished and a three month sublease for $1100 pm. It's ridiculously perfect. If that works out, I'm taking it for sure.

Regarding goals-

- Bang a few girls, will happen either place of course
- Few dates would be fun
- Meet new friends
- Explore

Once again, I do appreciate all of the viewpoints and advice. This place is the only forum I've found were people have useful advice, experience/education and aren't constantly hating on everything each other says.

What's put? Is that a Swedish dish?

Live in LES imho, PM me if you need spots when you get there.

I agree high end spots are a waste of money for 99% of population.

Yeah.

Can we get a recipe on that?

Everyone thinks you need a lot of money in New York. I was out five nights a week and basically spent nothing and I wasn't hanging out in any dive bars.

What you need in NY is time and some connections. It sounds like you have time so you can work on the connections.

I wouldn't live in Brooklyn, downtown Manhattan is the best place to be, you'll then have easy access to all the places you want to see including Brooklyn.

Yeah, agreed. I fall in that 99% and just can't pull it off even if I spent the dough tbh. Know thy strengths and all.

Will PM for spots soon too. Much appreciated!

You guys have def swayed me to Manhattan so I'm looking hard there but this one place in Williamsburg would be convenient so I'd take it if it comes through.

If you like hipster chicks hang out in Brooklyn. They are everywhere.

Yeah, break it down a little. Give back.

Did you go to Randolph Street Fest, or Lincoln Park?

Give us some tips for June.

London beats both by a wide margin (assuming you prefer a cosmopolitan environment to slumming) so I'd suggest arranging things so you can bail out without too much trouble.

Once again, thanks for all the replies.

I ended up going to Chi town in the end. I looked in NYC and didn't get any luck with my specifics (short term, dog friendly) and got a great place in Chi.

Love Chicago and happy to be here. NYC will happen some time in the next couple of years though!
