RE: YMG does Phuket
What is the deal with the "no guest" situation at the bungalows?
Where are you supposed to take your girls?

RE: YMG does Phuket
What about finding non-fighting sports to play around Phuket? I like to stay active but don't like fighting or exercising by myself.

Thanks YMG!

I explored the site a little and didnt see anything about any team sports like soccer or volleyball. Are those common and easy to join around Phuket?

Plus it seemed they were more focused on healthy muscle building/fat loss meals then the other gyms, who more seemed focused on eating local meals. I also liked that they seemed to be the only gym offering protein shakes etc... which I think would help (and I only mean help because I plan on trying to stay almost totally natural)

Are there any MMA gyms you would recommend? Or would you say just focus on the MT and go to brasil for the JJ??? Smile I really dont know and only have second hand info from the interned on the gyms there in Thailand.

If you do not have trouble with touristy geared gyms, Tiger is fine.
Their BJJ/MMA is fine too for beginners.
The USA has good BJJ gyms too, Brazil isn't needed anymore. Maybe just for the experience.

RE: YMG does Phuket
From what I gathered, they're ALL full of white overweight tourists. That's where they make their money.

If you want to get serious and even train for an actual fight, they'll give you special treatment. Tiger attracts the MMA guys. Dragon I don't know much about, but the gym was very small when I looked at it. There were only like four people there. Patong, I have no idea, but I wouldn't want to live in Patong.

Rawai's trainers are awesome fighters. The owner (Tuk) used to fight professionally in Bangkok and won championships up there. His brother (Hem), who manages the gym was a local champion in southern Thailand for like three years in a row. Supposedly he had to retire because no other fighter in Phuket would agree to fight him anymore. There are some Youtube clips of his fights where he basically just toys with the guy and then knocks him out after 30 seconds.

The guys who were training FOR REAL in Rawai -- i.e., training for months at a time and actually planning on entering the ring -- got special treatment and were segregated from the main group. They all were also in absolutely amazing condition.

The rest was basically summer camp for people who who are masochistic and/or want to lose like 20lbs.

Honestly, if you fall into the latter category -- you just want to lose some weight, get in great shape, and have fun doing it -- pretty much any of the gyms will suffice. It comes down to atmosphere and character. Who do you want to hang out with when you're not training? Like I said, Tiger's reputation is that of hardcore MMA guys and I know some ppl at Rawai didn't like the attitude over there. Rawai's atmosphere was very casual and relaxed and some other guys didn't like that either -- they wanted to be pushed harder. So I'd just look at the personality of the gym more than the actual training... if you're only going for 1-2 months, they're all going to teach you the same shit anyway.

And let's be honest, it's fucking Phuket... just pick one and go.

RE: YMG does Phuket
Don't stay in the bungalows. Stay at the Guesthouse. It's only slightly more expensive but MUCH higher quality and you can bring girls home as much as you want.

I don't know for sure, but Phuket doesn't strike me as the best place to look for soccer/volleyball/whatever... It's full of drunk Aussies, Muay Thai guys, old retirees, and locals. Hard to explain, but if you went... just doesn't seem like you'd find a consistent game there unless you organized one iwth a bunch of locals. People there are too transient or too old. Nobody who is young stays there for more than a couple months.

RE: YMG does Phuket
I'm going to Phuket next week for a month and I have been re-reading that thread and the info on the Muay Thai camps. I've sent an email to Anita at http://thailandmuaythaigym.com/prices/ . Now, was wondering would it be better to make arrangements befoer hand with a gym/boot camp or just go to a few once I'm in Phuket? Of all the ones mentioned in here, the one at thailandmuythaigym.com seems the one I like the most mainly because of their personalised 1 on 1 training. Anyone been to their 1 month programme?
I'm very looking forward to getting to Phuket and to start that 1 month intensive programme to get back in shape. Anyone from here going to be in Phuket doing a muay thai camp in Dec? Would be cool to train and hang out together.

RE: YMG does Phuket
Just check them out once you get there. They're all within 15-20 minute drive from each other and they all take walk-ins.

I miss Phuket... Sad

RE: YMG does Phuket
VP, do you think you are going to be out of Thailand come March?

That is about when I will be coming to Bangkok and it would be cool to meet up.

Also, is anyone else going to be in the region at that time?

YMG,
I'm scheduled to return to Canada by mid feb but I'm seriously considering extending my stay in Asia till mid april as I don't want to reurn there in the worst of the winter and I'd want to go to the Malaysian and Aussie F1 races in March/April so we might be able to meet. What are you going to do in BKK? Work/Biz? Fun? Or both?

I'm going to be doing both, but mostly work.

I'll get back into contact around that time.

Anyone else going to be in BKK?

RE: YMG does Phuket
This is a question for YMG and other experienced Thailanders. What was your experience at Hollywood and Tiger discos and just Bangla road in general? Naughty Nomad said he shored every night of the week, and i don't doubt that, but what would be your strategy with this? I talked to a good number of girls at Hollywood (every girl in the club very clearly a pro) and all of them were ready to go home with me in about 5 minutes, expecting payment of course. It seems to me you can spend the night trying to find one that isn't a pro (good luck), or you can just take them home, spend the night trying to charm them and hope they like you enough by morning to not ask you for money. But I'm guessing a lot of dudes that claim to shore girls in Phuket just take these girls home and then just simply refuse to pay anything in the morning. I don't think that counts, personally. If she was expecting payment, it wasn't your game that got you the bang.

Someone break it down for me!

I had the same issues with you check out Banana club it's along the beach, did not notice many semis or anything of that nature in there. Tons of hot Jap and Korean girls there too, make sure you dress up when you go there. I would not bother with Seduction since it's a 5x1 guy to girl ratio. There is a bar called Famous it's in Jungceylon a roof top bar and a night club, I believe on Monday nights it's Russian night give that a go. Also what I found was hit up Jungceylon during afternoon and chat with the girls selling condos and properties some of them are 10's, I was able to meet up with one after her shift finished but nothing really progressed. If the semi likes you she will come with you for free, check out tiger tiger I was able to shore there a few times.

RE: YMG does Phuket
It's such a fucked up place, there's so many girls with bangin bodies literally fighting over each other to fuck you for $20. I can see why so many old fat guys come here, if I was old and fat this would be heaven. You don't even need to be rich. And people won't look at you funny since there's so many other old fat guys here too. In fact, a young in shape guy looking for a legit good time is in the minority here. It's tempting, but I'm strictly no P4P.

I'll check out Banana, thanks.
