Probably.

I'm very critical of NYC but mostly because of all the transplants who think their shit don't stink and give the city a bad rep. Real New Yorkers aren't that bad. I absolutely hate the South Bronx though and the people who live there, and that's really where I'm from so maybe there is something to your theory.

I've got the dick so I make the rules.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
To answer the original post:

NO. We on this forum do not unfairly hate on where we are from. The guys on here are cut from a different cloth. We are free thinkers in here. It is in our DNA to not accept the norm - and that includes where your parents decided to raise you. It's not that we truly hate where we are from, we just want more out of life and may be quick to cast stones because we are always on the hunt for more money, the next girl, better clothes - we want MORE, NEW, DIFFERENT!!! Why would it be any different with geographic location? Hate may be a strong word, but it shows we will not settle. And let's be honest - hating on The Police State of California, Toronto Bitches, and DC Lawyer Cunts is pretty damn funny and makes for some good posts.

Think about this - If you did not "hate" where you are from, would you have ever left? Where would you be now? Would you be complacent, that Al Bundy guy 40 years old still banging the same chicks from high school and selling womens shoes? Or would you rather have tons of notches, stories to tell, memories to make you smile, and experiences that fulfill your life and make you are better man.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
i think yes we do. in our homes we are stuck in social molds and since we are so used to everything it becomes much easier to just see the bad sides.

Looking back on my time in toronto...summer 2011 was one of the best times of my life without question. met tons of people, lots of girls, drank my face off, lived in a great neighbourhood...swimming in the christie pits after last call...it goes on and on. it's a great city to be early 20s in anyways. the bitches have attitude but of anywhere else i have been int he world canadian girls are still the easiest to get same-night sex from. i also believe toronto has the best food of anywhere in the world i have been as well. I've lived in 3 other major cities since then but i still look back on that time the most nostalgically.

one event that really let me see the city in another light is when i had some friends from germany come visit in toronto. i took about 5 days off work and we rented bicycles for a few days and just toured around everywhere and got drunk all day and night. perfect weather in the peak of summer time, livin like the gatsby's for a few days and seeing the city through the eyes of a foreigner really showed me how great of a place it is.

all you toronto haters are crazy! Eatpuss

I agree with Kenny in that DC destroys other places except in the women category. All of my DC homies are doing well in terms of upward mobility. Can't say that about people in other US cities. The economies there just aren't as stable.

Personally, I love Brooklyn, NY. Great people and lots of character. Some of my best friends are from there. If it had its own self-sufficient economy and you didn't need to go into the city (Manhattan) for work, I would live there in a heartbeat.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
The vast majority of guys on here are where they are at due to economic reasons: namely, jobs.

If you gave each guy on here 500k a year in income that could be earned from anywhere, they'd be where their hearts lie and gone from where they call home right now.

In other words, the conflict between where our hearts lie and the economic reality is what causes people to hate on where they feel they are involuntarily stuck.

Ignorance is indeed bliss.

If we didn't know that the grass is actually greener somewhere else, we'd simply shrug our shoulders and make do with our life like hapless leaves flowing with the currents. We'd probably even defend it (no matter how shitty the town) because people naturally want to justify whatever decision they've made.

I don't own Toronto, so need to get defensive. Toronto use to be amazing, it seems to have been sanitized now. Alot of the cool underground edgy places have closed and now we get another fancy burger chain, global fashion chain/label, Starbucks or some trendy food joint in it's place.
I was born in London and seem to have a love/hate relationship with it, being away from it makes me realize it is one of the best cities in the world. I could live in a shoebox there and be happy, it has a vibe that alot of places lack.

Interesting take.

Is it economic reasons? Or girls? Or travel? Or travel and girls?

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
The vast majority of people, including guys on this board, end up in a place because that's where their job is.

Choosing a place on a whim and living there long-term with a good lifestyle is a fantasy seldom realized.

So guys save up money, take their fantasy trip to Pussylandia, before retreating back home to replenish the piggy bank.

I think a sizeable number of guys don't even have the cash to fund their fantasy trip. So they live vicariously through this board, dreaming about living in Poznan banging Polish girls while writing eBooks for a living.

The problem is that when the superiority of another place for banging high-quality women is proven over and over again -- and you can't get there -- you either do one of two things: get depressed and hate on where you're stuck; or get frustrated and dismiss where you can't be.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
(03-05-2013 10:57 AM)thegmanifesto Wrote:  I have been thinking about this a lot.

Roosh famously hates DC (with good reason).

Mixx hated Miami Beach. Our Canadian brothers famously hate their respective cities. The Aussies hate Australia. The London cats hate London.

Lately we have had French cats hating Paris. Spanish cats hate Spain. There has even been periods where NYC cats have questioned if NYC is finished. Colombian cats have come on here hating Colombia. Argentinian cats have come on here hating Argentina. Brazilians have hated Brazil. This list goes on and on.

Hell, I have even been guilty with hating Southern California (although I use a fact based critique that is indisputable ie logistics, police state, International travel times, taxes, last call times, drinking laws, smoking laws, ratios, glass container laws, ID laws, jaywalking laws etc)

So my questions are this:

Do we unfairly hate on where we are from?

I mean, I love Miami Beach. I love Paris, Australia, Spain and Canada.

Sure some are expensive, and the weather sucks in some, but they are great places. I love Saville Row in London. I love NYC during the right months.

USA - Western
Canada - Western
Australia - Western
UK - Western
France - Western

Spain/Argentina - Conservative, insular Latinos. (lesser problem)
Brazil - Developing rapidly and being aggressively feminized. (lesser problem)

I think there is a natural tendency for many to blame their environments when they struggle. While its true in some cases, for many its a cop out too. If anything our women tend to be the biggest whores on the planet and the attention guys get when they travel is a result of better ratios and a bit of a status bump.

But there is a theme that runs through all these places, and that theme is that these places are no longer countries for men. They are highly feminized nanny states that are under an immense cultural assault. The culture that built these countries and nations has been rejected en masse, and combined with multiculturalism now, they are in rapid decline. They are all going to shit and they are not the sort of place that can offer a man of means much anymore.

Frontier countries for me thanks. I dont need a safety net and I am certainly not going to pay for everyone elses. I also reject the direction western society and culture is headed as I am a person with conservative values myself, despite my many vices.

Toronto is a nice place in the summer, I enjoy the weather and there is a lot of stuff to do. I miss Toronto for those reason if I am away form in in the summer months because you have a lot of other things going on to occupy your time from the hostile women. I would even recommend a trip here in the summer months just to enjoy the City for what it is.

I am certain that had I grown up in Latin America or Eastern Europa, I would have emigrated and would have built a business in a city like Miami or Chicago - and would be singing the praises of the American dream.

I don't think I hate where I'm from - rather I hate what its become.

But, now that I've traveled as much as I have, and lived abroad - I no longer feel that I have a "home".

I've been "searching" for years now, and I haven't found "the place" yet. The reality is that I never will.

The closest I came was Argentina........

Same for me. The other side of the coin for me, is that I lived half my life in the US and half my life in Europe. When I came back to the U.S. after living in Europe, I found out how much I liked Europe better.

The other side of the coin is that I don't necessarily hate on where I am from so much as I hate on the parts of it I don't like (mostly women).

In DC I circumvent this through pursuing AU Pairs.

That being said, I vicarously hate on my birth city, DC, through people on this forum.

Wrong. That notion is old right-wing conservative dogma. Where are the facts? This is the definitive post on why DC has gotten wealthy relative to the rest of the country.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonk...ezra-klein

The federal regulatory burden, measured by the number of regulators employed, hasn't gone up much, and has actually fallen since 1980. The total amount of government spending [of taxpayer money] is about the same since then. You might think privatisation of government functions could drive up wage premiums, but contrary to received wisdom, the share of federal spending going to private contractors has actually fallen substantially since 1980. The level of education relative to the rest of the country isn't changing much. The one factor that does look like it tracks the rise in Washington's wage premium is the amount spent on lobbying by businesses ["productivity money"].

So to answer your baseless question, no I am not concerned.

Familiarity breeds contempt. When we travel, it's new, and just like there is a new car smell, there is a new place (new pussy) smell. After a while, it just becomes a piece of shit clunker I guess.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, even in DC. I know I haven't reached my personal limit here, and it's a great game work out.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
For me it was a process which blended growing up as a person, travelling and seeking business opportunities.

I ended up creating my own, short, list of places which I can call "home" and which match my personal pursuit of happiness.

Along with a parallel list of places where I definitely wouldn't try to live because they don't match my personal pursuit of happiness.

Where I come from falls somewhere in between, no great hate, no great love, but something OK on my CV. It's part of my past experience and I look at it comparing it to everything else I went through and acquired along the way.

But I'm a (culturally) very detached person and as such I always went for what I felt was more rewarding.

Baseless? Right wing conservative dogma? That same right wing conservative dogma on which the US built its prosperity in the first place?

The fact that DC is doing well while the rest of the country flounders is not a sign that DC is doing well. Its a sign that government spending is out of whack while the ship goes down.

It means government has the champagne corks flying while the people drink muddy water. It should be a concern to you because its unsustainable. You are living off a credit card. The only thing that you are destroying is the wealth of your own people, and indirectly taking down half the western world at the moment.

This is what Washington DC has done. Here, from Zero Hedge yesterday

Dow Jones Industrial Average: Then 14164.5; Now 14164.5

Regular Gas Price: Then $2.75; Now $3.73
GDP Growth: Then +2.5%; Now +1.6%
Americans Unemployed (in Labor Force): Then 6.7 million; Now 13.2 million
Americans On Food Stamps: Then 26.9 million; Now 47.69 million
Size of Fed's Balance Sheet: Then $0.89 trillion; Now $3.01 trillion
US Debt as a Percentage of GDP: Then ~38%; Now 74.2%
US Deficit (LTM): Then $97 billion; Now $975.6 billion
Total US Debt Oustanding: Then $9.008 trillion; Now $16.43 trillion
US Household Debt: Then $13.5 trillion; Now 12.87 trillion
Labor Force Particpation Rate: Then 65.8%; Now 63.6%
Consumer Confidence: Then 99.5; Now 69.6
S&P Rating of the US: Then AAA; Now AA+
VIX: Then 17.5%; Now 14%
10 Year Treasury Yield: Then 4.64%; Now 1.89%
USDJPY: Then 117; Now 93
EURUSD: Then 1.4145; Now 1.3050
Gold: Then $748; Now $1583
NYSE Average LTM Volume (per day): Then 1.3 billion shares; Now 545 million shares

Let them eat cake eh?

As I said in the post I made. We live in a cultural and economic sinking ship and the entire western world is attached to it now. Only resource rich countries are going to weather the storm, but even they are going to see substantial declines in standard of living that could last for a decade or two as we work this out of the system.

That life for you at the moment is ok does not mean that all is right with the world long term. Its an incredibly short sighted and simplistic view to take. With 16 trillion dollars debt and counting its no wonder your mates are seeing upward mobility.

In my dogmatic, right wing, conservative point of view of course.

For every guy who rolls into Georgia Vorkuta-style, I have to think there are at least 10 guys who frequent this site, sitting at home making ends meat, living paycheck to paycheck (or even unemployed, given today's economy).

Someone from the UK might be able to pull off some trips, only because there are discount flights to every "exotic" destination from London at cut-rate prices.

But some guy sitting around in Cleveland, Ohio? It's going to cost at least a thousand bucks just to get to Georgia, not to mention the cost of housing and misc. expenses.

But some guy sitting around in Cleveland, Ohio? It's going to cost at least a thousand bucks just to get to Georgia, not to mention the cost of housing and misc. expenses.

Good point.

I forget those UK guys are close to all those places.

Funny you mention Ohio. I got a friend there right now spending a lot of cash flying to San D and Miami. Unreal. I don't really like Atlanta, but being close to the airport is worth it's weight in gold, and with the new international terminal, well, just that much sweeter. It makes traveling so much easier. I'd be far less prone to live this lifestyle having to fly out of the Midwest.

I'm not sure I can handle shitty winter for months at a time any longer.

Atlanta is a great hub for an International Playboy.

Internationalswagger is based there and that cat travels more than anyone I know.

RE: Do We Unfairly Hate On Where We Are From?
Where you live is a mindset. Becoming negative will wear you down, and you'll never get out. For me, the ATL is my motivation. It's like being locked in a room but having a keyhole to look through. I don't have that keyhole living in a tent in a warzone at just about the most fartherest point from civilization. That can wear you down mentally and emotionally, but I don't start hating the place. My motivator is watching large stack of cash hit my bank account every two weeks. My mind is months ahead on a tropical island banging beautiful women.

And on that note, I've been to some of the worst places in the world. It's made me appreciate much more in life, including the U.S. I don't sweat the small stuff. Atlanta really isn't that bad, and staying positive makes it far more livable.
