A friend of mine was shopping for a high end Benz and test drove the G wagon and also the GL550 and said no contest the 550 was superior in ALL REGARDS except cool factor.

Her husband said the G wagon rode like shit but he felt like a Narco in it, but no way was it worth the price.

This is just one person mind you, and she is not exactly a car nut.

BMW 318i E36 Cabrio. The guy installed gull wing doors on it too and it has an M sport body kit. It does have a few catches though: 190km+ on the clock and the ad says the engine needs to be looked into; he's asking for 1.5k.

I'd buy it without even considering if it weren't for the engine and wear on the car. Whats the verdict Blush ?

Breakers yard is the verdict.

I recently rode in the back of one of my client's cars, a ~2015 S600. My god that was the most luxurious environments I've ever been in. I guess the only thing better is a Rolls or perhaps a Bentley. Was riding in the back seat beta?

^^^^^^^^ Hell no.

I was riding with a couple business associates to some meetings recently and I called backseat instantly. She drove us around for about 4 hours that day and I just kicked back and worked and listened to the beats.

Stellar day.

The only thing I prefer to a RR is the back of a large new Bentley. I think on balance the Flying Spur is my personal favourite to be driven in.

The plus side is that unlike a RR, they are pretty damn swift and handle nicely should you find yourself in the front seat.

Haha, my dad has rode once or twice in the back of Bentley Continental. He said it was nice.

Jeremy Clarkson (paraphrased): "Audis are cars for German cement salesmen."

I also just realized they are only one letter off from "audit".

I'll always have a soft spot for this generation S.

When I was a kid in the early 2000s my best friend's dad had a 500 (550 in US?) and a driver that we used to use all the time for messing about in drunk and high.

As a result I always smile when I see one Smile

Shame they were built during Merc's bad years for rust and reliability.

Had any problems with it?

They're really not bad. Big car feel, power v8.
Air suspension problems but not so bad cause the same parts fit a bunch of years.

Bought it used about 9 months ago, fixed some problems when I first got it; had to replace one of the shocks and the pump for the air suspension. Did most of the work myself at a cost of less than $1,000. These were the original parts. Haven't had a problem with the car since. The rust problems were fixed with the 2003 makeover along with a number of reliability issues.
Guitarman 路 2015-11-17 12:26:00 路 #921
Yes Mercedes from 1996 to 2003 decided to save money, by among other things USING LESS PAINT on the underside of the car. Underneath the wing guards was just primer.

Hence they rusted badly, even structurally in some cases.

Judging by the flag above your user name probably no, not at all safe.

I appreciate it is is my ride beta but my dad loves his Mercedes. At the mo he has

2007 E320 BRABUS
2001 SLK320 AMG
2009 ML320 BRABUS

Whereas I'm driving 2006 Renault Clio

Former cars my grandfather owned were

Ford Galexie (427 cu in) - Try driving that around English roads.
Various Jaguar XJS (ranging from V8, V12s and convertibles)

I know my own ride is beta but curious to know about the others.
