Guys embellish a few details about career, income, connections, etc. to exaggerate their status.

Thats the game. Selling yourself as a hot commodity.

No, there are times when it is better to lie.

If a girl starts talking about some obscure musician and asks if you know him/her, it is better to say yes, or "oh yeah ... !" like you are remembering them.

Same with countries she's visted or any other kinds of details.

You want to build an "us against the world" bond with her.

If you practice lying, you will be more comfortable with these white lies. You can even say shit like "I saw him play a few years ago" or take more risks like that.

Girl: "really? That's so cool!"

You: "Kind of. I didn't really get to see him that well."

Girl: "Why?"

You: "Shows look different when you are watching them from backstage."

You change the subject: "But, I liked how there was a strong connection between everyone in the room. I think that for most people, it's rare to have this kind of experience. For what I do, I'm used to it, but I think it's better for the world if people can have these powerful experiences to shake them out of their routines. When I was in France-"

Her: "Wait- what do you do?"

etc.

There are times when it's better to lie, I agree. White lies are different to outright lies about who you are or what you do to impress a girl and I'm not exactly innocent when it comes to lying but I haven't ever and won't ever make up lies like the millionaire example (as I said before, assuming it's a lie) and others like that to impress chicks. I don't see the point.

But that's the beauty of game. There is no right and wrong answer, there's just the answer that works for you.

While you may pretend you know of some weird, unknown musician she's mentioned to you that she's into, I'll be teasing her about being one of those "I hate everything mainstream" nerds.

I'm sure we can agree to disagree on the matter. Though I still stand by what I said that it papers over cracks in your game if you have to resort to lying to keep or get the girl interested.

Gotta' agree with this - I've accomplished/experienced a few pretty cool things in my almost-58 years, but sometimes when I mention them (even in the most roundabout way - not a boaster by any means) I get the distinct sense that it's just not "being bought".
