Alphas on TV
Following from Nomad77's naturals thread, just thought we'd give some examples of great alpha characters in TV or movies.

Just to get the ball started..
Mad Men- Don, Roger
House of Cards- Frank Underwood
Any Bond film

RE: Alphas on TV
They exist but for every 1 "alpha" character there are about 50 "beta" characters.

In films, besides Bond, two other great characters I love are Indiana Jones and Tony Stark.

RE: Alphas on TV
Obviously Don Draper.

I stopped watching Californication after I saw in first season how Hank Moody let's a 16yo brat get away with almost destroying his life, and how he let his ex wife behave. Don't know what happened after that but I have a feeling its the same: he has some good comeback lines and does jack shit and luck and pussy come right into his lap while women around him get rewarded and encouraged to be bitches. Not how it works IRL.

Adam from girls was a great alpha for 1/2 of first season.

Best line in tv history... "Where do you want it...on your face?"

The brothers on shameless are great role models for young guys today

Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) in Lethal weapon was pretty alfa IMHO.

Expendability is alfa and Riggs demonstrates it by walking into gunfire not caring about geting shotright at the start of movie 1.

In the second movie he even picks up a girl in a grocery store.

RE: Alphas on TV
Most alfas in TV and movies are the villains.

Hans Gruber would be the best archetype of this, but I am sure you can name many many others like him.

That is because the villain needs to be strong and menacing to keep up the tension while also exciting and charismatic in some way so that the audience would "love to hate" him. Also portraying alfas as villains goes in hand to hand with the demonisation of males the modern western culture pushes.

In most movies the bad boy is more interesting then the good guy. And in some special but not so rare cases, from the red pill point of view, he even appears to be the true hero or the one with higher morals.

The lead in the film Rodger Dodger is a decent example, but the film overall is anti-game.

Any 20th century movie. DeNiro, Pacino, Mitchum, McQueen, Newman, John Wayne, Christopher Walken, etc. Watch that stuff nightly millennial men and de-program yourself.

Roger Moore's Bond is a bit soft... still have to like him.

American TV in 2013 is just awful misandrist shite.

I like the guys on swingers. Well one of them had game at least(the tall one).
Jack Nicholson characters from Chinatown and The Last Detail were awesome.
Humphry Bogart was a total player in almost all of his films.

I want to say Jimmy stewart type of characters from classics like Vertigo or Rear Window,(essentially an everyday man who is put into impossible situations and still succeeds) but his 'ah shucks' personality seems more beta.

Other than Madmen, I can't stand TV.

All of the men are bumbling idiots. No surprise that the most missed demographic of TV are males from 18-35

Jimmy Stewart is a 1950s man, Alpha and Beta weren't defined on anywhere near the same terms that they are today. 1950s Alpha was all about your interactions with other men. Most men acted towards women in a way that would be perceived as 'beta' today, because it was relevant to the way women were at the time. That was how you got a girl.

RE: Alphas on TV
Any traditionally male figure on TV is a good thing. Ned Stark from G.O.T was a good one. Khal Drogo was an unrealistic Alpha for modern times, but undoubtedly cool.

Walter White, Stringer Bell, dudes from Sons of Anarchy etc are all 'alpha', notice how they're all criminals. Girls love that escapism/fantasy shit. I guess men do too for different reasons.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. - H L Mencken
