I was so worn down and low energy tonight. Fair warning - no cool stories here.

Went down to Pub Street to find a pizza - first one I've had since I last left the states, I believe. And it was chronic. Siem Reap really has a solid foreign dining scene and the prices quite reasonable.

I didn't even want to land any tail tonight - just felt like sleeping alone. But popped into Temple Bar on Pub Street - definitely a backpacker place but always worth a look as there are some whiteboy chasers who go in there to shake their tail. Also seems to attract girls visiting the city from other parts of Cambodia or other Southeast Asian countries. Played some pool with a few locals there.

At one point when I was standing there these two gay Cambodian guys jogged up to me all excited and one had an iphone with this guy's picture and asked if it was me. haha Um, no. The funny part though was that I think it was the Swede that tried to hit on me the other night. I've got a few days beard growth going right now and a new haircut - didn't realize how similar we looked until then. Funny.

Really dropped the ball on this smoking bodied girl with a not half bad face dressed up all cute. She kept looking at me and smiling, obviously inviting me to come talk to her and standing at the pool table while I was playing. I think she knew the guys. Introduced myself at one point and she was going to say something else but then it was my shot. After that she came around a couple more times but I just seriously had no motivation or energy and instead just sat there with my dick in my hand. After a while, she saw I wasn't going to make a move and she just wandered off. Pretty sad display actually. haha

Not that I wouldn't have loved to bang her out or at least get the phone number and try, but was just too hungover to give it a fair go. Going to take a few nights off - don't really have a choice in that matter either as my money is almost drained and it'll take a few days to get more in my pocket.

Speaking of which, I really need to post up somewhere and make some headway on my business again.

After girl wandered off I could barely finish my beer and was feeling a bit off physically, not to mention sweating up a storm. But then started walking back to my room and some tuk tuk driver stopped and started chatting me up like we knew eachother - turns out he dropped me at my room last night. Come to think of it, he may have been the one that approached me the night before about the shoring. Anyhow, he offered to take me to my room and we stopped in this hooker bar that has really nice tables to play a couple more games. Kind of pointless really - my pool game was pretty off too.

My God - nothing is more horrible to look at than a beautiful woman with majorly fucked up teeth - like third world fucked up. You definitely see that from time to time here, and it's really so sad - this lady bar had one that was almost model material if it wasn't for her teeth. Man she was cute - and great body too. If I was her I'd be saving up and getting them shits fixed because she could definitely have some rich guy taking care of her if she did. A couple other more shabby girls with rotten teeth too. So wrong.

Really blows my mind that guys are actually PAYING to fuck women with teeth like that...A middle aged Westerner actually ended up barfining that hooker and took her out of there in a tuk tuk after she was done playing pool with me. Seriously? Wow...I couldn't bang that even if she paid me. And seems like you see it more with the actual hooker bars than with freelancers, which is interesting in itself. You also see some with some real brutal beer guts.

Which brings up the point that I could see it being a big risk of actually swooping a rotten-toothed girl if you pulled her out of a darker nightclub and were well buzzed up. It has crossed my mind that it's probably always best to get them out in the lights before making any major commitments. Turns my stomach to think of waking up to that.

Yeah, sorry about the size, guys. How do you resize images again? Maybe a basic instruction guide for posting images, etc, would be a useful addition to the "how to use this forum" documents.

When guys start bitching about naked photos being to large, I do an eye roll. Great stories BB, keep up the good work.

You really just have to save it, open it in Microsoft paint, and resize it that way.

That's how I do it. Maybe there is an easier way.

From what I remember from cedonulli who has spent about a year if not more in Cambodia. Too bad his site has been hacked and all the content has been lost as he had some solid solid golden nuggets about girls and living there. I really wish I had saved some of his posts as they were that good!

From what I remember from his posts, Cambodia is the kind of place to post up for a few months, baselining your expenses to as low as possible since it's quite cheap there, get a very hot gf, a nice place to stay all for dirt cheap, think less than 200$/month and to focus on biz.

Would you agree with the above in light of what you've seen and experienced first hand since you've arrived in Cambodia?

After reading Cedonulli's site for the past few months about Cambodia and now your stories from the field, I'm making it a priority to visit and spend a fair amount of time there as soon as I return to Asia. Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia are more and more looking like the places that I'll spend the most time upon my return to SEA.

I've been to Cambodia approximately 50 times and have stayed there for weeks and months at a time. In fact, I'll be there around August 23rd a little business.

If you're the type who wants to work and do nothing much but work, then Cambodia is the place for you. I considered living there many years ago and decided against it. I had several friends who lived there for a few years, one who used to own Sharky Bar, and most have moved on.

For me, it's too quiet. It's gotten better over the years but try going to a movie theater or getting a decent pizza at the Pizza Company or somewhere like this. Cambodia is a cool place for a month or so but unless you're running a business there or trying to set one up, it gets boring...that is, unless you're drinking and whoring.

Well BB solved the Pizza situation there....

Yeah, if you came here with that mindset, I could definitely see (with my thus far extremely limited experience of living destinations here - haha try just one) this being a good place for that type of gameplan. One thing I will say is that it is very easy to drift into a lot of beer-drinking here though, as there are a lot of places where you can get a mug of draft beer for $0.50 and $1.00 even at nicer places. Small pitchers are $1.50.

At those prices, it's a bit hard not to just chill out on a few beers in the early evening, and once you get going, well...But with some self-discipline you could definitely pull that off.

And yeah, I could see it being extremely cheap too if you got an apartment and didn't go out all the time.

Shit now you've got me contemplating giving it another month or so since I was just complaining in my last post about needing to get work done...

I'll see what I can do. I've always been resistant to this, as I just feel kind of slimy taking people's photos and putting them on the Internet, even if it's an innocent photo. Especially on a site that's geared towards banging women from different countries, as I imagine most girls don't want you putting their mug on such a site. For now, I'll just repeat that there are a lot that aren't worth much of a look, and you'll find more overall beauty in Thailand, especially due to them being more fashion-savvy there (and less bitses with rotted out teeth lol). But as in anywhere, there are stunners sprinkled about. I particularly find the stunners here to really catch my eye due to being so exotic-looking to me.

Something about the eyes and lips - very striking. I'm going to start bringing my camera out with me so like I said, I'll definitely consider popping some photos up of randoms. I may just make it clear I'm going to put them on "my website." LOL

I will at least agree that it always helps to have a business keeping you busy, but I think most of us here are at least working on something, and the guys that aren't mostly have jobs to run back to after a month or to anyways. If I didn't have a business, I'd probably be at least scouting out import opportunities for the hell of it.

Sure, some might find it a bit more boring, but (and this is not an intention to insult you - just to point out a certain mindset to life), a sentiment I've seen mentioned by both Fisto and Giovonny at times comes to mind here: people who get bored are sometimes just more boring people. In a nicer way, you have to get more creative. Since VP is asking about whether it's a good place to stay focused, I think it's spot on to say distractions won't be as in your face but if you want to find them, they exist aplenty.

I mean, there are a lot of options for things to do. Go motorbike touring. Go blast about any type of gun you want to in the jungle. Go scuba diving. Go mingle with the locals and find the good local food or just people watch at point blank range. Go mingle with the tourists and eat some dank foods from around the world. In Siem Reap, you can tour Angkor Wat on a mountain bike, exploring temples like you're in tomb raider. They've got all sorts of islands down off the coast, many very quiet.

On top of that, if you're like me and really get off on putting yourself into new situations, walking down some new street and sitting down with some locals outside a tiny local store for a couple cans of beer or wandering into the local nightlife becomes an adventure for itself. I can't even imagine how much fun you'd have ripping around the country on a motorbike or off-roading.

There are multiple styles of Khmer martial arts you could check out for a unique experience most guys who stick to mainstream arts don't get.

The bigger cities and towns definitely have nice local discos where you can go in, post up on a weekend (though a Tuesday night will even be hopping), and get a bottle with friends or girls, and all of these places have outside beer gardens where you can sit down and eat and drink if you're looking for a mellower night. And I imagine if you're the type to throw some money around you could quickly have a pack of locals chilling at your table, grinning from ear to ear at everything you say and doting on you hand and foot. Hell, they do that even if you don't share your drinks with them. LOL Video Karaoke is fun for me too, even though I never take the girls. What's not fun about sitting in a room flirting with cuties and singing songs?

Another thing I wouldn't mind doing is putting my head into and learning as much about the gem trade in this country. That would a fascinating expense of time. It's fraught with danger and headache of course - I don't even think foreigners are allowed to legally take gems out of the country without setting them into something, but there are still ways to pull it off if you learn the industry.

I've been fascinated by the gem trade for a while now and wouldn't mind taking some gemology courses (there are solid ones in Bangkok) and learning more about the rife opportunities throughout the region.

You can take cooking classes, play golf, go on helicopter rides, check out museums and learn about the crazy history here. Or just sit in your room getting some writing done, working on your online business, or watching movies on your laptop with some sweet piece of ass cuddled up next to you. What's to be bored about?

As an aside, most people find Vientiane, Laos achingly boring, but I found no lack of things to keep myself entertained with up there for months either. I think it's all about your approach.

But to be perfectly clear, yes, it's definitely not Bangkok - no doubt about that, but there's plenty to do here. And if you needed a glimpse of something new from time to time, tickets from Phnom Penh to BKK seem very reasonable at 3000 baht.

I haven't tried to find a movie theater yet, but that's a definite downfall if they're completely nonexistent - I know some of the hotels here have cinema-style movie nights. Here in Siem Reap at least they have some cool cultural shows you can check out. Or the Cambodian Circus, which is apparently on the level of Cirque du Soleil - I'm definitely going to give that a hit before I leave.

As for the Pizza Company, I've always found their pizza to be a bit too "Thai-style." I'll eat and even enjoy Thai-style pizza, but it's nowhere near as good as American or Italian-style pizza. And while I've yet to make it to Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville, here in Siem Reap there is no shortage of pizza - you can even get online and have it delivered right to your hotel or apartment at about $7 for a medium.

The one place I did pop in to try it, it was a very dank pizza that was definitely made to suit foreign tastes rather than local tastes. They had burgers (even crocodile burgers), sandwiches, and all that jazz too.

Cost $7.75 for a medium all-meat pizza, and then $0.50 for a mug of beer to wash it down. Some other places look even cheaper for the pie.

Down of Pub Street they've got a ton of foreign dining options, from sushi to Indian food to Korean BBQ to French to Thai to Tex Mex. They've even got a Western-style ice cream shop churning out the homemade goods, and I daresay it was one of the best ice creams I've ever had - I guess they have several shops around town, a couple in Phnom Penh, and at least one in Sihanoukville.

Maybe it's just because Siem Reap is so touristy, but here you'll have no shortage of tasty options. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that my own experience so far is that the quality of food if I quickly pop into a tourist spot here is more dependable and less hit and miss than Thailand, believe it or not. Local food is a bit more undependable though, at least in the cheapest places.

EDIT: I don't want the above to seem too argumentative, considering that it sounds like you've spent FAR more time here than me at this point - I barely just arrived, but I guess my main point is this. If a place even has two things you can find that you enjoy investing a lot of time in (muay Thai and scuba diving being good examples), a healthy amount of available nightlife, locals that will acknowledge you, good-looking girls available to date, and a decent internet connection, I guess I just can't fathom allowing yourself to get bored. Just my approach to fun anyways - I realize a lot of other guys need something more, but I grew up in the rural mountains, so maybe I just got used to keeping myself busy. I think the only times I've gotten frustrated with a place being boring was when their wasn't a decent dating scene, and then only because my mind was too focused on the shortage of pussy options to focus on anything else.

Fisto, let me do a little research and thinking on that first. I've got some figures in my head - I'm thinking you can live on 50% - 75% of what you could get for a similar lifestyle in Thailand. And purposely living tight can bring your budget wayyyy down. But I'd like to do a bit more groundwork on actual costs before I throw any numbers out there, as I've been pretty much screwing around and not paying much attention. Don't want to blow smoke up your ass. Want to go look into apartments too.

I bought an iPhone 4s copy in Bkk last year for about $US90, when that was the current model. They also had them with iPhone 5 printed on it, even though the real one was not yet released.
Later found I could have bought it somewhat cheaper.

Not the same as a real one, but a friend had a real one and held them in each hand, checking a few functions. He thought it was pretty good for the price.

Funny thing. Because I bought it on impulse, when I got home, realising that I had no use for it, I listed it on an auction site with an honest description that it was a copy. Within hours the site remove the listing, advising me of copyright infringement.

I was in Shenzen and Guangzhou in May. You can walk around the wholesale/retail cellphone malls there and watch them assembling fake iPhones on their counters.

I saw likely knockoff Galaxy SIIIs for sale in Bangkok for 4200 baht.

Got the beard I was starting to develop shaved today for $1. I love that.

Also was taking a walk on a break from writing to get some exercise and ended up on some real backstreets with all the locals looking at me funny, smiling and waving. Was walking by what looked like these random people's house and there was a group of guys out there hanging out. One hollered at me and waved me over so I went and joined them. They were all older, middle-aged guys from the lower end of society - not going to hook me up with any quality tail anytime soon but still cool folks nonetheless.

Food spread on the table - the barbecued eel was delicious! - and drinking beers in the daytime.

So my break from work turned into a beer-drinking session. LOL Only one spoke decent English - another was manageable. They had a couple guitars and a keyboard and were just sitting there jamming. I eventually cut it short and headed back to work but it was a great time. Turned out the place was actually a restaurant in someone's front yard as others showed up - the old guys said they go there everyday and to come back.

Another farang walked by while were sitting there, but he just ignored their hollering at him. They didn't ask for any money - it was all their treat.

I finally started carrying my camera around and was beginning to feel bad about sticking it in everyone's face after eating with these guys. And then I stop at this roadside stand for some sticky rice in banana leaf, and what does the guy sitting there do? Sticks a camera in my face. haha Guess they don't see many foreigners buying that food there. Not just us tourists doing the photo-snapping.

I saw some fake watches sold in Manila a month ago - they were the best fakes I have seen ever! The guy was asking about 150 USD for them but at the end was willing to sell them for about 35 USD. I still didn't buy as knowing you have a fake watch does nothing good to your self esteem.
