Staying in Polanco would be a good idea, but it will be expensive. Try hotels along Reforma avenue, it is centrally located with easy access to any place you'd want to go during your stay. You can walk to Polanco and downtown from there.
Zona Rosa refers to an area known as colonia Juarez, this is on one side of the central part of Reforma avenue (the Marriott where Hencredible Casanova stayed at is on this side),the colonia on the other side of the road is colonia Cuauhtemoc (where the St. Regis is).

@mr.A, I actually found a decent deal for a spot in Polanco but I'm a little concerned about it being removed from some of the everyday culture. I'll look into hotels in Reforma though. About how long is the walk from Polanco to Reforma? Would you recommend staying in Colonia Roma?

This trip is more for my own actual interests in the the Mexican/Mexico City culture. Flags aren't necessarily a priority but are still on the itinerary.

@speakeasy, great sheet. Mexico City is really odd. Everyone I speak to who hasn't been there is like "don't go, you'll get kidnapped!" But everyone who has been there says it's worth the visit.

If you found a spot in Polanco, by all means stay there. It is a walkable neighborhood with many restaurants and tons to do. There is easy access to places of interest and right next door to some museums. It is also very safe, which is always a good point.

Reforma is a very long avenue, and it happens to be one of Polancos boundaries. A walk along Reforma from the Polanco/Chapultepec area to downtown would probably be about one hour if you just walked, but there are many sites along the way so it will be much longer. The Anthropology museum is in the Chapultepec park area directly adjacent to Polanco and right on Reforma, it's a good place to start your trek.
Walking to the Reforma area I had previously mentioned should be 30 mins from Polanco.

this thread/datasheet is awesome! thank you all for your time and generosity!

As a result of your hard work I will be visiting Guadalajara and Mexico City for 10 days, Thurs. July 18th to Mon 29th and I would like to organize a meet-up there for any gamers who want to meet up and join me. I've already started pipelining online for female friends/wingwomen.

I have day game skills but I would love someone to wing with me for mixed sets during the day
as well as night game which I'm not accustomed to because I'm not a big drinker/partier.

I lived in Colombia for 6 months so I speak fluent Spanish. i'm in my mid-30's and from L.A.

In Guadalajara i'm thinking of hitting up some of the malls like Commercial Andares during the day in Zapopan for day game
and the bars/clubs in the night like Mala Noche and Lola Lolita at night.

In Mexico City (Distrito Federal) I want to stay near Chapulete hitting up the day game there and night game in Polanco as well
as Condessa some nights for a more laid-back night game.

Pretty much, this is why I'm going in a few weeks and I'm staying at a 5 star hotel on Reforma. Hang hang, tu sabe, holla at ya guala.

I AGREE. a good friend of mine did get kidnapped...and we went right F-in back again...lol


But he also is a SF dude so his balls are alittle bigger than most..
But just be smart, both issues we had were our own faults.

Today and tomorrow will be pretty dead but I would suggest going to Pata Negra in Condesa 1 night just to befriend the staff. Then when there is a line Thur-Sat you should be able to walk right in. Wednesday night it should have a decent crowd and Thursday night they had a DJ playing quality older hip hop and r&b. It's shoulder to shoulder Fri & Sat (get there early).

I didn't go to Polanco so I can't comment on that but Pata Negra is the best spot in Condesa.

In the meantime I would suggest spending time on la Reforma when the women get out of work and approach them.

I also feel like there was better than average women around Zocalo for some reason.

Wednesday I hear the cool place is Club Rhodesia. I was there last saturday and really liked it.

Tuesday try Centro Cultural España at Centro Histórico, behind the cathedral. Live jazz, no cover. Lots of hipster chicks and with a famous international hostel right down the street, there should be a lot of foreign backpackers too.

Pata Negra is the only place I ran into a significant number of gringos. Anywhere else, it seemed that everyone around me was Mexican. On the metro I can count on one hand the number of people that looked foreign.

I saw virtually zero foreigners in GDL. Maybe they do exist but I didn't see them.
