I'm thinking of taking this Brompton folding bike with me to Asia.



Has anybody done something like this? will the traffic be too dangerous to be worth it?

Not worth it. Just rent one there. Any place worth biking will have rentals.

Traveling with that thing would be a pain in the ass. I agree with DVY almost any city has bike rentals.

I don't want to have to deal with a big normal bike or cheap folding bike that doesn't fold well. This bike fold up into samsonite suitcase, so unless I only carry a carry-on. It's just another checked luggage. I also want to carry this bike indoors whenever I can, so I don't have to worry about thief.

Another reason is I want to take this on train and buses, a normal bike will not allow me to do this without extra cost and it being cumbersome.

I've always wanted a bike like this. If I can save a couple hundred a month, that would be awesome.

I can not believe that thing fits into a samsonite suitcase. How light is it? What does it cost? Also, used maybe?

Here is the bike in a samonite:



The bike's weight about 25 lbs but lighter if you opt for a titanium build but that would increase the cost. You're looking at $1.5k for a new one. It'll be hard to find a used one for much cheaper as these seems to retain it's value quite well.

I figured, if I can avoid renting for a couple of years. The bike will pay for itself but more than that, a bike with this kind of mobility would be awesome getting around places.
