"Not every opinion is valid" CarletonUniversity freespeech wall torn down
http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/01/22/...eech-wall/

Another Canadian Gem, Cultural Marxism is alive and well. Dodgy

Quote:By Tuesday morning the wall was gone, destroyed in an act of “forceful resistance,” by seventh-year human rights student Arun Smith

...

Calling the area around the wall a “war zone,” he intimated that it was “but another in a series of acts of violence” against gay rights.

In a Tuesday afternoon Twitter exchange with a CBC reporter, Mr. Smith dubbed free speech an “illusory concept” and declared that “not every opinion is valid, nor deserving of expression.”

I actually agree with the guy. In theory, unqualified "freedom of speech" is an evil, because it levels the playing field and grants de facto legitimacy to every idea, deviance, and deception which can be put into words. Since most people are easily misled sheep, this can be a great menace to public good, because they will follow whoever shouts loudest. It is naive to believe that often-inconvenient truths will win out over pleasant fictions in the court of public opinion. Consequently, well-ordered societies of yore never questioned their right and duty to take measures to suppress ideas which would strike at fundamental truths or cause upheaval.

Of course, nowadays, in practice, freedom of speech is a very good thing, because with the erosion of any public moral standard for government officials, not to mention the centralization and bureaucratic nature of government today, the men who theoretically work for the public good can't be trusted to tie their shoes properly without a policy manual, let alone make judgments on what ought and ought not be permitted in public discourse.

It's ironic to me that this "exercise of speech" was perpetrated by a gay rights activist, considering that almost the sole reason for homosexuality's increasing public acceptance today is because of the impassioned and calculated yelling of leftist activists over the last two decades.

"seventh-year human rights student Arun Smith."

Arun Smith still hasn't graduated. In seven years. From a fuck-all useless major like "human rights". tard

And why did this retard tear it down? Someone had written "Traditional marriage is awesome".

Best comment so far: "Our universities have devolved into adult daycare centers for emotionally challenged adults. Progressives poison everything they touch."

This appears to be the same Arun Smith who ran for student election in 2012 on a platform of "Making inclusive, open spaces. Every voice is empowered and every student's voice is heard." Well, that campaign promise didn't last long. Arun has also titled himself the "Challenge Homophobia and Transphobia Campaign Coordinator".

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Typical progressive behavior. In their minds, only their ideas are valid.

The wall was torn down because somebody wrote "traditional marriage is awesome" on a wall that had multiple pro-gay sentiments on it.

Pro-Gay = Always Right
Traditional = Always Wrong

O.K., I think I got it... Troll

Liberals and lefties are very open minded as long as your views match up with theirs.

The progressives need to stop declaring wars on everything. Their opponents might show up someday.
