Buy an 3-in-1. Here comes Amazon again, I use the Epson WP-3520, it's wireless so I don't have to connect it to the computer (less clutter). It prints like a pro, scans pretty well, and I don't know about fax since I don't use it. The ink lasts for a while and it's cheap. If you're looking for something on the cheap then go with the 4th choice as it's the #1 selling machine. Don't buy HP, their ink does not last long.

Instead of getting a fax, use efax.com.

You get a number people fax shit to and it gets converted to a pdf sent to you as an email.

You can then print it if you need to or just file it on your computer. Will save some clutter around the office.

RE: Streamlining an office cheap help needed
Over the last couple of years, I have been on a mission to expunge every piece of paper from my office, at least as much as possible.

I have scanned and subsequently shredded literally tens of thousands of pages of documents of every description that had accumulated in a wall full of lateral file cabinets.

Now that I've got all those documents scanned to PDF and organized into a series of folders, its pretty easy to keep up as new documents arrive.

About once per week, I process the documents that have accumulated, and run them through the scanner.

I use a Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500 which scans double-sided black and white at about 20 pages per minute.

I scan into a folder structure which is synced via DropBox, so I can access my documents from any of my computers, smartphone or anywhere I can get to the Internet with a web browser.

Everybody has to decide for themselves how much they trust these cloud-based services, and what is the appropriate retention period for tax and legal documents, but this system has revolutionized my filing and document processing ability.

Even if you choose to continue to physically file the original copies of your documents, the ability to instantly search and retrieve a document from anywhere is something I find tremendously valuable.

^^^ Dude that's still the way I feel when I see this thing swallow a pile of documents as fast as I can load them into the feeder!

This goes along nicely with the above-mentioned eFax idea as well. No fax machine required, as the ScanSnap can do the scanning for you, and then you can electronically fax via the fax service of your choice.

Voice over IP - I did not see that mentioned here.

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.
