RE: musica latinamericana
About 7-8 years ago, I used to be a lot into latino music and at the time, my favorites were:
Grupo Mania (top class puerto rican merengue group)
Mattiz (Merengue)
Elvis Crespo (his first 2 albums were good, then the quality went down as he went more into the "americanized" style).
Los Adolescentes (awesome colombia salsa group)
Juanes (great Colombian singer).

This is off the top of my head, it's been 7 or 8 years that I haven't followed what's going on in the latino music world as I've been totally hooked since on the absolute best music in the world from my beloved Brasil. Smile But I still enjoy from time to time to listen to some cool latino tunes. What's new these days in the latino music world that's not to americanized and authentically latino?

@ VC. Most of my buddies who are DJs in SA are into the stuff you find here in the west coast USA..the pop 80s synth type stuff. Also a lot of mix and mash with Reggae, reggaton, baile funk and some dubstep/electronic thrown in. That's the type of stuff they've been sending my way over the past year or so.
Stuff like this http://www.laresisfuckedup.com.ar/2010_0...chive.html

There is always new caipira/rancheros stuff if you are into it. One of my favorite groups is El As De La Sierra

Those guys are gansters. jjaaj

What music are you listening to in Brasil. What's playing on the radio?

Chocquibtown - Somos Pacificos

After ''We no speak Americano'', this song is what you hear bumping in Colombia, and it's actually good. From the coastal region of Choco, which is about 95% black.

Bomba Estéreo - Fuego

Another popular one, this one from Bogotá. But so chill you wouldn't think so.
