Needless to say, once this gets to trial some new precedents may be set in terms of what evidence will be allowed to be admitted. Will anything acquired from Anonymous, as a result of hacking, be allowed into evidence? Honestly, I wouldn't want to be the judge on this case because no matter what he or she does, there are going to be a lot of people attacking them based on their decision.

The guy on the video didn't admit to doing anything, he was talking about stuff he saw someone else do. He was also trying to be a comedian so there's no telling how much he was exaggerating. On top of that, he's drunk and it seems he's 16 or so, which explains why he hasn't been prosecuted.

However, what this Anonymous group has done is fucked up. They're attempting to tarnish the names of every player on the football team. Maybe 2 or 5 guys were involved, but the other 40 or so players on the team had nothing to do with it. Dragging their names through the mud, especially as teenagers, is fucked up, and it doesn't help the poor girl any. I'd hoped the Duke Lacrosse bullshit would've put an end to this type of stuff.

If the events occurred as described in the press reports, this is fucked up all around. The part about them carrying her to different parties, basically as a toy, is shocking. None of the other stuff that happened surprises me because that kind of thing happens all the time - namely people taping fucked up shit, showing it off to others, then deleting it and clamming up. It doesn't shock me that others would join in the "fun" along the way - peer pressure is a real force at that age. The thing with this one is, everyone knows who was there, who participated, etc. So there's going to be tons of talking and gossip about it. Even if there's no prosecution due to a lack of evidence (due to the hacked evidence being disallowed), everyone will still know who the "guilty" parties are and what part they played. As a parent, what do you say to your kid if you find out they witnessed this and didn't say or do anything, or if you found out they actually did something to this girl? As the trial approaches, you have to wonder if someone will step forward and testify to what they saw.

It seems as though there was minimal evidence, and it was "he said, she said" evidence. This isn't enough to support a rape case, although I'm sure some people are screaming about "miscarriage of justice" and "rape culture."
