RE: Health: Sleeping on the Floor
Getting a real Japanese futon (not those couch-bed things that college kids call a futon) may be a good compromise for guys who want that sleeping on the floor experience, without actually sleeping on the floor. They are a little different from what I've seen posted here. The guys living in Japan know what I'm talking about. It's a very firm base pad that folds in three, with an also very firm mattress that you lay on top of it (which you can also fold.) You sleep maybe four inches off of the ground. You can fuck like a champ on them and then fold it up and put it in the closet in the morning if you want the uncluttered space. If you can't find a Japanese grocery/shopping center in your metro area, you can probably order one online.

I was looking for an example to show you guys and I actually found a Tempurpedic futon. Never heard of that before. Scroll down for the pics and the travel bag!

This is the traditional setup I'm talking about. Note the tatami flooring.

I am sleeping on the floor for 5 years now. It feels quite cavemen.

I slept on the floor for years when I lived in Japan. I love tatami mats, with their fresh bamboo-grassy smell...
It's not easy to replicate that lifestyle in the US, though, because houses here are not really set up for sleeping on the floor.

RE: Health: Sleeping on the Floor
I may have said this already (can't remember if I posted), but I slept on the floor in college.

What I observed primarily is that I never slept in. You don't want to just lounge on the floor. Your body gets you up off the floor when you wake up. (If you have a problem sleeping in, sleep on the floor.)

I slept less at night (around 6 hours instead of my usual 8-9) and then took an afternoon nap.

Getting on the floor is in that regard a more natural way to sleep.

Hard bed. Cold shower. Warm ocean.

Keys to success.

Opposite of sleeping on the floor I took a nap on one of these the other day and it was glorious: http://www.yogibo.com/?gclid=CITass-q_roCFU8V7Aod-GoAUA
