I went twice. I thought calle Venezuela had decent gaming potential and certainly had talent. Definitely worth a trip if you like loud clubs, mixed sets, and don't mind getting numbers. It seems like a place people go to be seen not so much to hook up. But talent is good, especially rear talent. Nightlife options in Santo Domingo are not that amazing, and calle Venezuela definitely makes the list. I prefer zona colonial because it has a cozier, safer feeling with plenty of bars and hidden spots to isolate girls. Zona colonial seemed to trend more to hippies, students, gays, tourists. Calle Venezuela more toward phat assed milfs, professional girls, and booty shakers. Zona colonial is San Francisco, Calle Venezuela is new York/Vegas. Girls definitely seemed to have their guard up more in calle Venezuela as it's a bit dangerous area.

What you've done well in the DR is a build friendships with the locals. Then you can call for help when you find yourself in a bad situation. Many travellers should take note of this for safety reasons.

I am going to buy and read Pitt's e-book. I had the opportunity of going out a lot during the day with this guy, and as many people that meet him in person say, he is legit, and he does what he write here.
Also, I like his writting style.

It's tough to non rev any day of the week there. SWA has around 5 flights a day and I can't get on. Jet Blue through Tampa might be a better choice but I haven't explored that option yet.

I think it's been proven that it certainly is doable, though it's not ideal.

The more Spanish you have, no matter how basic, the better.

What would you recommend for accommodations in Santo Domingo? I'm debating an AirBNB vs a hotel. Thinking girls might be more comfortable coming to a hotel than an apartment.

Girls are usually indifferent when it comes to hotel vs. apartment, although it gives you a bit more legitimacy always when staying in a nice apartment. Hotels scream sex tourist, and many girls, although not all of them, will certainly not have any interest in being with a sex tourist.

I have only done a hotel in SD once I had a group of girls lined up from previous trips and they didn't really matter where I was staying.

From others' reports it doesn't seem to matter much, but that's my own personal opinion and experience.

Also, you will have trouble bringing girls into most of the Santo Domingo hotels. There is some conflicting information on this on the forum, but I have been there three times and have been cockblocked enough by hotels. It used to be perfectly fine, but some guys were getting drugged and/or killed or something and they had to put some restrictions in place. An apartment is a better move if you can afford it.

A hotel that would be 100% girl friendly guaranteed is the JW Marriott at Blue Mall. The lobby isn't on the ground floor and you can bypass the lobby and go straight to the room. Probably the 'coolest' pool in SD as well although it's smallish.

Of course, one night here is about the same cost as a week in a decent AirBnb in Piantini.
