Has any paid online dating service ever done extraordinarily well? There's paid features on most dating sites but the majority still offer free services alongside them. Trying to get the 18-22 demographic to cough up money for online dating is probably the hardest. Christianmingle, eHarmony etc are all catered to older demographics as far as I know.

Don't see a bright future for Tinder. Gonna buy a yamaka and do a photoshoot for JDate.

I was mostly swiping left anyway and even then bored with whoever I matched with most of the time.

Time to accelerate my 100 approaches and compare my results (w/ my online results).

+1

I'm retiring from Tinder and online game.

I did my next round. Out of 100 likes I got 12 instant matches. I probably did about 200 dislikes.

What is weird is that 95% of my matches now are instant matches.

Well I hit the like limit today. I'm kind of surprised because I don't use a mass like app and I actually stop and look at all of the photos and read the profiles before I decide yes or no. I also encountered my first "Tinder traveler" where the profile said "Swiping in x location" along with an airplane icon next to it.

My prediction is Tinder will become the MTV of dating apps. For those of us old enough to remember MTV started out as a simple network that played music videos 24/7. Slowly over time conventional style shows crept in. One here, another there until finally MTV quit playing videos altogether. I think Tinder will be the same. My prediction is that slowly but surely, the focus will shift away from dating to "shared interests" and networking with it ultimately being another Facebook where you "connect" (friend) someone by swiping right on them. If they accept your friend request they will swipe right as well. Tinder moments will evolve into nothing more than de facto status updates. Tinder will soon be just another useless social networking app...

You said Tinder 5 times.

Everyone should meet girls in real life and use only online game as a backup. Internet tends to make people weak and does not help you become a man.

Two more rounds after 12-hour 'Out of Likes' period expiration.
Last night -- 122 likes.
This morning, surprisingly, it allowed me to like 402 profiles. This time, however, I decided to check every profile I was about to like and passed on those which were active more than 5 days ago (about 20 of these). Possibly, Tinder gives you extra advantage if you open every profile.
Only one human match since paywall introduction. At this point, however, such depletion is consistent with my previous profile re-creation periods.

It has been a month since I recreated profile with new FB account and is time to conclude the 'artificial pickiness' experiment.
Totals for this period:
Liked: 22800 (in my area)
Passed: 228K (mostly in different metroplexes)
Human matches: 30

Thus being 'picky' by disliking thousands of profiles in remote regions did not boost number of matches for me.

Unfortunately, TroubleMaker's test shows so far that girls did not leave Tinder immediately after Plus enforcement started. This could make it worth for me to pay $10 a month after taking professional pictures as per BlurredSevens' recipe.

Really you liked 22.8k and disliked 228k profiles and got 30 matches? I installed Tinder again yesterday and like I guess about 100 profiles and got 20-30 matches and didn't start conversation myself with any of the girls but few of them started with me and I have now 2 numbers. Maybe im beautiful?
Clark 路 2015-03-05 15:07:00 路 #3658
EH, obviously your profile does look much better. My first 10 matches, however, come in the first couple of days as well. Then they slow down real fast and I maintain profile mostly to work existing ones. It seems that optimal period for profile re-creation is 1-2 weeks. I'm just lazy to do it as well as put too much value into existing matches which didn't yield a number yet.

I guess you tested it in the Baltics?

I get x-times amount of matches in EE than in Western Europe. US & UK is even worse than that.

And yes - very good looking guys who have optimized profiles get way more matches. Change the location to LA and see how much you can match there.
evilhei 路 2015-03-05 16:00:00 路 #3660
Good idea, I will try. How do I change the location though, I need to install emulator to my computer? Actually when I think about it I never get much matches when im in Western Europe. I think I never got any in Milan even though I was there for like 7 days and only got few in Copenhagen last time I was there. Maybe its easier here. I mean swiping no to 228k profiles means I should have gone through like all of the girls aged 18-35 and even then it wouldn't be enough I guess.
Clark 路 2015-03-05 16:15:00 路 #3661
It's important to note that Tinder keeps showing same profiles over and over. Either you swipe them left or right.
Thus 200K+ left swipes could be as few as 70K unique profiles.
Also keep in mind that this number was reached by pointing automated 'Liker' app to different major metropolises across the entire US.
DJ-Matt 路 2015-03-05 17:01:00 路 #3662
Wow everyone I'm swiping on has a real legit profile with actual text below, there must have been a shit ton of bots that weren't matching with me. It's like all the bullshit is gone, problem is the percentage of fatties is higher now.

I've said a few times the quality on Tinder at least where I am is still pretty good, better than what you'd see on the street... Well I made a second Tinder account recently, exactly the same in every way but for the age. I've noticed the quality of girls on my new account is much lower than the old one and the difference is consistent, they are definitely showing different girls to different people. My guess is Tinder's algorithm doesn't have enough data to rank my new account yet.

I need to get new pictures as well, I don't have any that show off my muscle and I'm not about to upload a shirtless mirror selfie. I'm leaving pussy on the table here.
Clark 路 2015-03-06 11:11:00 路 #3664
Be careful experimenting with duplicate accounts when you have promising matches. There is a very good chance that the second profile will be shown to them prompting unmatch. I've lost quite a few good leads that way.

I have told them it must just be a tinder bug. tinder is so buggy that they always have believed this.

Pro Tip 1: It's well known that using "mass likers" gets your profile marked as a bot, and they don't show your profile to girls. It is the single worst thing you can do on Tinder. I'm surprised to hear guys are still doing this.

Pro Tip 2: All the hot 18-21 year olds have migrated to the Hot or Not app and have been using it over Tinder for a few months now.

Tinder really fucked up with the subscription model of monetization. Of all the ways they could have cashed in (and I personally would have cashed in much sooner!) they picked the absolute worst way.

The whole point of Tinder was that it was low-key and care free, which attracts all kinds of girls. It was COOL, which with dating apps, was a previously insurmountable obstacle. Making it a paid subscription makes it serious and serious ain't never been cool. The result is an exodus of all the hotties.

Still great for picking up cute 20-somethings this spring and summer, but by fall semester 2015, the college girls will be as good as done.

Lucky for us dating apps are a dime a dozen and Happn/Hinge/Hot or Not/etc. will continue to rise as Tinder declines. Don't forget these girls are horny as hell too and they want fast easy sex just as much as men.

And of course some other nerdy app designer will create an app that will be helping us get our dicks wet in 2016 and beyond.

The pussy always comes full circle!

Haha man you have got to play this shit up! I have met up with no fewer than 3 girls because they saw my 2nd Tinder profile, and they opened me because they just had to know why I had two profiles. Girls are curious creatures and having the second profile is a great hook.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that you should message a girl soon after matching but I'm not so sure this matters. Girls are going to have so many more matches than guys that it seems likely that you'll just be one of many many matches. I would think the most important part is to stand out with your messages not with when you message them. What do you guys think?

I've found the same thing. There have been times where I was busy, burned out or otherwise didn't want to engage a match just yet and then opened her weeks after and it was as if I messaged her right after matching up.

This can麓t be emphasised enough. Mass liking absolutely destroys the viability of your account, as shown by the guy upthread who liked 23k women for only 30 matches. I downloaded Tools for Tinder and went from having instamatches every time I logged in to going completely dry for weeks.

You can either use an emulator like in the old days or buy Tinder Pro now which gives you a chance to change location yourself.

It is massively easier in all EE countries. Of course there are also the local types that girls are looking for in each country - if you look like an Italian, you won't match that much in Italy versus being a blonde blue-eyed guy there.

It just dawned on me that it is possible to flag account as bot based not only on sequence of swipes but their speed too. eek
This could very well be the reason of such a low efficiency! *where is that smilie banging head on the table*
