Great post. I have been going to Uniqlo to get clothes that fit my lean frame, do not look overly gay or metrosexual, do not have large obnoxious logos, and are very reasonably priced.

I spent a few months working there as a general sales associate, and something a lot of people do not know, at least for the SOHO store, is that they offer free tailoring/re-sizing on certain products. Just ask anyone who works there. Also, Uniqlo denim, one of the best for the price. Just stay away from those graphic tee's...

The best part about Uniqlo is the fit. The clothes are not made for fat people, unlike most American brands.

If you look around, you will see no fat people in the store.

I like Uniqlo, they have several stores in London.

The stuff is a nice cut, good fitting for athletic guys and reasonably priced.

I recently discovered Uniqlo at a mall here in China. I usually dress a little more urban, but since I'm working on changing my wardrobe this seems like a good first place to start.

As for the sizing, I can't speak for Japan, but here in China I'm a 3xl. I'm 6' and weigh 150lbs, and a US large is usually a good fit for me. I can't even buy shoes here as they all stop at 10.5! Well, that's not true. I can't buy cheap clothes that fits me, I have to pay western prices for a limited selection of clothes.

They do free tailoring at all their stores. I just got a new pair of jeans the other day and they finished the alterations in less than 24 hours.

Who ever mentioned Topshop: GTFO Their quality is piss poor.

Best thing thing about Uniqlo is being able to buy Selvedge jeans for about £60.

Another good place to shop for high-quality, reasonably priced clothes is Everlane. They're an on-line only retailer, much like Frank & Oaks, and everything they make is crafted here in the good ole' USA. I own a few v-neck tees from them, and they're the softest, most comfortable tees I've ever worn. Slim cut, and they fit in all the right places. Far better than the $5 junk you get at H&M.

Want to give a to Uniqlo as well. Went to one for the first time yesterday in Bangkok.

Since I live out of a suitcase I have to be very strategic in my purchases. Sometimes I'll go shopping and not find anything to my fancy. I was in the market for a replacement pair of jeans as I just went through a bulking phase and my main pair were fitting just a little too metrosexually. I tried shopping in Hong Kong but the prices for labelled clothing were surprisingly absurd: e.g. the equivalent to my $150 pair of Boss jeans bought in Canada were selling for $450+. No thanks.

Enter Uniqlo. I ended up purchasing 6 items, including new jeans and shorts. Total: $70. Amazing, considering the quality.

I've been meaning to buy clothes from uniqlo for the past few years.

Took them long enough to get into e-commerce.

I load up every time I'm overseas or in NYC or San Francisco. Best combination of price, quality and selection bar none... I'm kind of ruing the day they'll show up in LA because I'll be like those hipsters who "knew about that band before they blew up and sold out".

Can't believe I missed this thread.

This is probably the best store to learn basic fashion if you are in shape and are not rich. If you are out of shape + fat this store is useless for you.

Anyone who asks me for basic fashion advice that is in shape will be taken to this store immediately. H&M and Gap have terrible clothing and quality in comparison. Night and day.

It's really the relative quality of clothing (already mentioned here) that makes the difference.
