If you're actually serious about a relationship, then it's an important thing to know. If she has 200k in debts, and you marry her, now you have 200k in debts. Even if she later divorces you, you still have 200k in debts.

If you're looking to just sleep with her, then I don't think anybody cares.

If memory serves me right, there are actually three credit scores. If it were me, I'd be sure to ask for Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Like the banks, you drop the lowest and highest, and take the middle score.

Not exactly. They all carry copies of your credit reports, but they don't have the score that people mean. That comes from FICO.

Creditkarma is free and gives you your score and advice for how to improve it. I have student loans and a ridiculous credit card that I signed up for during my freshman year, so mine is pretty shot.

Kickboxer @ 490 ( bought gold chain on credit got stolen and he didn't know he didn't still owe the cash bill went to collections but he changed his cell and forgot about it)

Houston @ a cool 585 ( pays his shit but had a buy here car loan go bad once 5 years ago that they keep re -filing)

Skywalker @ 485 ( had some chargebacks but then started settling up. His score can jump 100 points in the next 6mos) Also parents help

That means 540 at best. You maybe in denial if you think you send a check in for payment that your score jumps up. Threaten your creditors.

Heh. I can't actually get a US credit score, tried since there are some great miles collecting cards in the US but no dice without a US bank account and no bank account because I have no Visa. For the record though I have no debt. I don't like leaving a trace.

I know I have two outstanding debts, one for roughly $150.00, another for about $400.00

Never had a credit card.
