Great year.

Turned the LTR from average to pretty good from what i've read here and Athol Kay's book.

Start up my biz in the latter part of the year, first sale should come in January.

Hit the gym hard since the start of the year, strong like an ox.

But then in terms of sport here in the UK it's been exceptional, no doubt the best year I will ever see.. Olympics, toure de france, euro's, chelsea winning the champions league, city winning the title... Crazy year for sport.

Expectations:

• Undergrad finished, well into grad degree with better results
• Working on next fitness goal

Achievements:

• BSc., and have started MSc. Grades aren't good enough.
• Achieved most goals, but dropped the ball in august.
• Have made a great deal of progress, but not as much as I hoped.
• Lost my job, but found another. Not as thrilled about it, but it puts food on the table.
• Ended up in a relationship, but still fucked a couple hotties on the side. Relationship itself was a disappointment.
• Have instead furnished my flat with classy and tasteful furniture worth quite a bit.
  

I'm proud of all of my achievements even if I feel they've fallen slightly short of what I hoped for.

A coservative estimate would say my success-rate is about two-thirds, which is well above previous years. This also because I adjusted a few goals during the year to make them more feasible. The feeling of achieving a goal that took effort is something I really get a kick out of, so I think it's at least as important to make one's goals achievable as it is to be ambitious.

For next year, I have more realistic expectations as to what I can achieve and my goals will be somewhat fewer, but more ambitious. I have several success from this year that I can build on. Observe good habits, work on ending the bad.

Something else is work-life balance. I procastinate too much and this leads to imbalances. Sometimes I spend all my time stressing over some uni work, the other I worry about my job. Instead of working on making everything just a smooth, well-balanced flow and making minor adjustments. That's a major goal of mine for next year.

Swallowed the red pill at the end of 2011 and 2012, not coincidentally, was the best year of my life. I finally made the decision to leave the U.S. permanently and never go back to that bad acid dream. I'm hoping to surpass my level of excitement and contentment this year in 2013. I had my first exposure to game around the spring of this year. Started with the Pickup Artist where I actually wondered for a second if wearing an oversized hat, all that would help increase my quality and quantity...
Nah! Then I stumbled across Roosh's books and had results after a period of internalizing some of the material. I still have a lot to improve on but I am definitely better off at the end of this year.

2012 was the best and worst of times for me lol. 1 step forward and 2 steps back constantly. 2013 will be better because of how I'm setting up my life but definitely not thrilled with 2012.

Negatives
-Made couple of bad business investment choices lost more than I estimated
-Picked the wrong chick for a LTR
-Didn't alter my social circle enough. Next year I'm eliminating certain 'friends' in order to reach my goals.

Postives
-Traveled quite a bit but only within the states
-Lived in Vegas for a few months which was an insane experience and priceless. Also that helped boost my yearly total of chicks banged to 43 and that's still with being in an exclusive LTR for 4 months. Actually it's been a great year for getting ass but I never make that a goal per se.
-Increased my strength gains in lifting but good is never enough so 2013 goals are much stiffer.
-Took some BIG risks, some paid off, most didn't, but I definitely grew as a person this year and learned alot.

For my 2012 has been the best year as well:

- Banged more chicks than any other year, and still might bang a few more before it ends.
- My Mandarin level skyrocketed
- My Aikido has improved alot
- Got new Car
- Finished my engineering Degree
- Started my business
- Getting some small cash on the side
- My body shape got alot better from the gym
- Traveled to 1 new country

Only one downside If I am not mistaken:

- Serious 3rd degree ankle sprain on my travelling. Its been 6 month and I still think it hasn't healed completely. Im not sure if it ever will...

I'm glad you made this thread because it made me put my year in perspective.

Looking back, I definitely made some good progress in all areas of my life. Money was the least satisfying area because I took some losses on a few investments but I will learn from my mistakes and bounce back.

On a better note, reconnected with a few people I needed to reconnect with, and for that I'm grateful.

2012 was definitely one of the more up and down years for me.

Early 2012:
- Moved to a new country
- Meet some amazing people
- Changed fitness routine and dropped a lot of body building fat.
- Adapted to a new culture and integrated extremely well.
- Thought I was leaving my old life behind (not a bad thing. actually quite welcome)

Mid 2012:
- Ended up in a relationship that is defying everything that is written about on this site. I have no problems with this.
- Moved back to Canada to finish up some projects.
- Began juggling two serious relationships. Thought I could handle it, turns out it is more difficult than I could have imagined.
- Invested a lot of money into a project which did not pay off as well as I would have hoped. Better due diligence on my part could have changed this.

End 2012:
- I am pretty sure that I am in love with a woman for the first time in my life. Not sure how I feel about that yet.
- I was ripped a part pretty hard in front of a 100 of my peers during a project status meeting.
- Found the positive of fore mentioned debacle and will work hard to remedy the situation.

2013:
- Focus and apply myself more.
- Not get caught up in my own head as much.
- Let go more, what will be, will be.
- Lay the groundwork for new product launches.
- Try and land an internship with companies that can help hone the skills I need to move ahead.
- Give this relationship a good go.
- Find the adventure that I have been looking for, in whatever that might be. A drastic life change is an appealing option.
- Finish this project (April 2013) to the best of my abilities and be happy with the result.

Barbados - fun relaxing time, got to see alot of cousins who I had not seen in awhile. Beautiful island but lacking in talent.

Tampa/Clearwater - won a trip through shitty company. Didn't have much time to myself and was not able to hook-up with El Mechanico. Decent talent and I would return.

England/Croatia - was pleasantly surprised but the talent in London. Actually got hit on by some young girls, must have been my holiday vibe. Got to finally meet Roosh in Croatia, only for a weekend. Probably highlight of the year.

Returned from holiday to be fired wrongly from shitty company, boss man felt intimidated by me.

Second job I apply for I get with a multi-national for way more $$$$.

Terrible year for girls, have to get out of Toronto once everything is in place.

2012 was an interesting year. Had some positives and negatives:

1st half 2012:
- Read 4 Hr Work Week, which changed my thinking and forced me to find a way out of my corporate 9-5 gig
- Got fired from aforementioned corporate gig, which worked for me because I was 2 weeks from quitting
- Found a girl I really liked and was about to develop a case of oneitis but things ended up not working out with her (dodged a bullet)

2nd half 2012:
- Decided to take the summer off and not really worry about my career. Just focused on having fun, connecting with friends, and banging bitches.
- Finally relocated to a new city in a different part of the U.S. I've been wanting to do that for 2 years.
- Picked up freelance marketing/online marketing but suffering from paradox of choice as there are a ton of ways to go in this field.
- Moved to my first bachelor pad. The logistics suck (15 minute drive from downtown) but I'm only in the lease through early next summer and then I'll move.

For 2013:
- Ramp up the marketing business.
- Develop a social group. Being self employed and in a new city can make it very difficult to meet people. I have a couple friends of friends in my new city that I've been out with but I've been pretty bad with actually calling them to hang out.
- Get some stamps in my passport. I'll be 30 next year and have tragically never been out of the U.S.
- Pickup 15-20 notches next year. I haven't had a year like that since my senior year of college but I'm coming into my prime now.
- Get body fat into 8-10% range. I usually fluctuate from 15-20% depending on how lazy I am.

decided will move to brazil in 2013 and work with my friend there.

Or as tucker max said... hot, single, sane... pick two.

I myself been having a hard time sleeping well the past few nights because I've been so anxious, has to do with a lot of poor decisions made in a short amount of time.

There's nothing for it but to take a long, hard stare at oneself and face shortcomings with a plan to do better. Keyword being plan - one has to also ask "how". How will I bang hotties, what system will I apply? How will I acquire cash? How will I learn a new language?

The Christmas break is a great time to relax, take a deep breath, sit back and start thinking about long-term planning and execution again. As a matter of fact, I'm going to do that right now.

Thanks man its an interesting thing to have happen. Some people really struggle with others egos and I think they actually sit back and wait for the "right" time to take a strip out of me. I would say that I deserved about 50% of the criticism and the other 50% was unprofessional attacking. Women in power can be scary when they act in this way.

Its the constructive criticism that allows me to really move forward. I know myself, and the fire that comes from needing to prove people wrong about me is a great motivator and I am feeling the burn.

Letting go in 2013 is going to affect me in more than a few aspects of my life. Most profoundly is in relationships with women, and breaking hearts has me stressed out. One thing about really getting to know myself better in the past year is the knowledge that I have a lot of empathy toward others.

I know what you mean about poor short term decisions messing with your head. Sometimes they just keep happening and they have a snowball effect. Just like high points, low points have a strange way of hanging on for a while too.

2012 has been the most eventful year of my life. i lost my virginity and racked up 7 notches in total.

has it been the happiest year of my life? i'm not sure. despite the achievement i don't feel overjoyed by the sex and the notches. a part of me thinks i honestly could have and should have done better. another part of me knows that i hold myself to unreasonable standards and am never satisfied.

what i'm left feeling then is that my real accomplishment for 2012 has been a successful movement towards becoming the 'normal', cool, socially developed person i had always wanted to be and that was waiting to come out. the heavy despair and ache that came with being a 20-something virgin has been blasted away completely. i am so much more confident and relaxed. a lot of my anxiety and self-doubt issues are gone or greatly diminished. for the first time in my life i feel neutral, and not bad.

now here are a bunch of opinions/observations/concerns on pickup that my experience has led me to arrive at:

- confidence and proficiency in a social skill, such as picking up girls, is built primarily through positive reference experiences. we know that confidence cannot be willed, but at the same time i can't agree with certain gurus who revere failure as a primary teaching tool and a lot of students in pick up purgatory who view is at some sort of cathartic, character-building experience. the best way to learn how to pull a girl is to successfully pull a girl. this is why it took a whole year in the game to get my first lay, but my second lay came just a week after.
- the best way to improve your game is to run with guys who are good. the high tide raises all boats.
- it is curious that 90% of the women that PUAs bang are 6s. just admit it, you fucked a fat 3.
- the 5 biggest lies and omissions in the pick up industry are the importance of 1) a guy's looks, 2) female availability, 3) female horniness, 4) culture, and 5) persistence/aggression. roosh has been the lone man covering #4. RSD covers #'s 3 & 5 well, while still denying #1. direct daygamers of the london school heavily rely on and exploit #s 2 & 4, but then disingenuously chalk it up to the transcendent power of their game.
- nightgame in toronto is simply not worth the time and effort. if you can daygame, do that instead. if not, be prepared to struggle.
- in toronto i have observed 4 avenues of getting something resembling consistent, actual results through nighttime cold approach: 1) guys aged 31-40 picking up women aged 26-35, 2) guys in the top 5% of looks (8.5+) picking up women in the 6-8 range, 3) using RSD-style approach-monkey tactics 4 or more nights a week, 4) picking up young south american girls at the madison pub using regular game.
- no set opens better than a seated set. i have seen this time and time again.
- asians girls open the coldest, jewish girls the friendliest.
- i am disappointed by hipsters. in my loner days i envisioned hipsters as an enlightened fringe that i could identify with and be accepted into. but having interacted with them furrealz i see them as nothing but braindead sheeple. hipsterdom is really being mainstreamed among urban whites. strangely i now respect more the purportedly baser elements of young adult culture, such as, say, a guido clubber brah; as corny as his bulging biceps might come across, at least they're the product of hard work and discipline, which can't be said of your standard issue hipster fag.
- the starting points of cold approach playerdom are 1) logistics and 2) time. if you don't have both handled then don't even bother. don't expect any decent measure of results if you can't put in going out 3 nights a week - 3 nights a week already being impractical for the average upstanding citizen. cold approach is by its nature a very unnatural lifestyle for almost all but an array of the usual suspects - students, the unemployed, IT contractors, writers, marketers, instructors, etc. the main reason an instructor is so good is that he can go out 7 nights a week and not have to wake up at 6am. the main difference between him and you is just a couple thousand approaches.
- the foundation of cold approaching itself is state. it's 75% of the battle. it's best to reframe your night as a process of getting into and maintaining state.
- suit game: don't believe the hype.
- wear lifts if you're a sub-5'10" guy out at night.
- the real source of happiness and fulfillment in game is quality. hands down. banging one 8 > banging ten 5s.
- i think that RSD represents the future of game in north america. it's a shame.
- i'm a light-skinned indian who can pass as a middle easterner or a hispanic. ethnicity is one thing i won't lie about with a girl though. i'd rather give up a lay than spit on my ancestors.
- the best way to get a girl is to be in her social circle. the best way to get girls is to do cold approach.
- all community guys have issues of some sort. these issues can be major or minor, but they all have them. this is part of the greater realization that no person is perfect; in the pick up community it is doubly so. it is worth remembering that the rooshvforum is a rare island among the pick up community that is populated by competent and successful players; "issues" in this context would probably be limited to annoying personality quirks. the greater internet pick up community however is this great big sea of social dementedness and failure, the depths of which have exasperated and frustrated me and blown my mind many times over. in finding a wing, just as important a consideration as "how good is he?" is "how fucked up is he?". stand up guys are really hard to find, and many of the better guys are those who can positively channel their particular weirdness into cold approach skills. my main wing of 2011 was, behind a thin veneer of normalcy, a seriously fucked up dude. my main wing of 2012 also was... behind a thin veneer of normalcy... a seriously fucked up dude.
- game does work. the alpha/beta dynamic is real. the evo psych theories are true. however in some quarters it is overglorified and it is forgotten that it is but one of many, many factors at play, and nowhere is that more the case than in the cold approach setting. it simply does not fucking matter how much you've studied up and fancy yourself as an Aloof Alpha Asshole™ when you go out to talk to girls and it turns out that you're too ugly, you're too short, you're too hairy, you're too young, you're too old, you're too soft, she's in a conversation, she's in a big group, she has to pee, it's a sausage fest, you run out of things to say, she has a boyfriend, she's not looking to meet someone, she has other options, she gets distracted, there's a cockblock, she has to leave, she's just looking for validation, and so on and so forth, all of which things either cause the girl to write you off or stop an interaction from initiating in the first place. game is sloppy. there is no perfect game. it doesn't help when in the real world you use that Nefarious Neg™ that is guaranteed to induce the greatest of Gina Tingles™, it has no effect, the girl just doesn't care, and she turns back to her friends as if you never existed. so that much for that shit. pick up is not a chess match as a lot of keyboard philosophizing mental masturbators would have it. it is more like a card game. for better or worse, it involves a lot of set, circumstantial factors (luck of the draw), and accordingly the wiggling room is smaller, simpler, harsher (skillz). ironically, game in its pure, narrow definition (learned verbal charisma) works best in social circle settings, on dates, in established relationships, where the girl is already receptive, invested, and undistracted. it may just be my negative experiences in toronto, but Alpha "Bring the Movies" Cred is not going to help a guy struggling to maintain the attention of his last 5 cold approaches in a bar. the guy needs to execute these basics: 1) look his best, 2) approach a lot, 3) be engaging, 4) be aggressive... and let the chips fall where they may.

I got sick five times, got barely any university credits out of the way, barely smashed, and didnt meet any goals I set out due to many other things making my life difficult. Definitely not my year. Im going to do everything within my power to make sure that 2013 doesnt turn out the same as 2012.

Not a bad year at all, not really fantastic either.

I continued freelancing and managed to almost double my income vs. what I made in 2011, so that's good. I also made some new friends and now have a pretty decent social cirlce. I guess it was a pretty decent year on paper, the problem is that 2011 was the best year of my life so far and therefore a kind of hard year to follow. It all goes back to what Roosh said about happiness always coming back to that set point, I guess.

- lost 20 lbs

Game
- 1 ltr ended, 1 mini ltr blew up
+ went out to 2 spots in the last week, still getting "come hither" looks. Cold is making these chicks thirsty.

All in all, probably my worst year economically since I went pro. Socially, value of friends proven 100 fold.

Lots to do for this coming year, never want to revisit these trying times again.

Being realistic and assessing your performance objectively is the only way to make progress you can appreciate. It's not a total loss. At least you know how you DON'T want to do things going forward.
