Recently got frisky with a girl in my social circle. i.e. a friend of a friend

Less than 48 hours later she messages me to say she "feels weird" about hooking up since we have mutual friends.

I've obviously framed our interaction wrong, but how do I get her passed this awkwardness to being open to more action?

EDIT: She just messaged me saying she used to have a thing for my friend. How to respond?

That last part makes it sound like she's trolling for drama. Was this part of a conversation or did she just randomly text you?

You want to play that as little as possible. She is trying to bait you into jealousy, or make you talk like a beta and get defensive. So respond with one or two word (or two letter) answers, let her yap yap yap. Eventually she will get distraught that you arent showing any (beta) emotion. When she gets testy, say something like "take some time to calm down" snip contact for a while and zap her put of the blue for a day to meet. Pretend like you have been struggling to hide the facts between you two. Propose that you meet to discuss something. Act conflicted. Pretend like you give in for a second and escalate again. Off to the races.

Just friend zone her and treat her like a male friend. Don't try to hookup with her again. If she was really into you she would not "feel weird". You are probably done.

Focus on making sure no damage is done to your social circle and hopefully you all will be able to hang out as friends in the future.

Remember, "don't shit where you eat" can apply to social circles too.

Do you have any other girls to go for?

Do you have to make a play for this girl? If so I'd go with Fisto's line. In all honesty just get out and approach or online and send messages, however you do it.

Ha, not much to update. I'm leaving town for the next week.

I just said "gotcha." She changed the subject.

Only time will tell with this chick. She was fairly annoying, so I'm not worried. Got some other ones I'm working on.
