I would put myself in this category. In the respect, that I'm not really a traditional guy. I'm one of those very metro guys, (reason I'm considering LA) but this is just what I prefer. I'm simply not as confident as a regular dude.

I'll explain the differences. The usual alpha in the midwest is a hard-beer drinking, carhartt wearing, big, tall, white, toughguy attitude type. A lot are also into Affliction or TAP OUT gear. The more professional white-collar guys, are usually much more beta I've noticed, although I generally see them with hotter women.

Myself, I'm stylish to the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo (minus the fact I get most my stuff at Zara and his is from high-end labels). I'm not that tall, only 5'9. Weigh 160, used to bench 210 at the peak of my strength training. In very good shape. 1st degree Tae Kwon Do Blackbelt. Huge boxing fan (but hate trashy MMA). Played div 2 college soccer when I was younger. Although I never played football much, I can throw a consistent long range spiral. Drink of choice would be coors light or a jack on the rocks, and the occasional old-fashioned.

I also pride myself on having an "always alpha, all the time" mentality. Although, I realize in my younger days I used to exaggerate it a bit. A big part of being alpha is being naturally clever, which I've always been good at.

What I'm saying is, society has a narrow view of what is alpha and what isn't. Being a very stylish metro guy in shape, yet only standing 5'9 - I know I'm not seen as a traditional alpha. Yet I consider myself more alpha than most "very alpha" guys.

I have noticed here in the midwest, a "hot" woman above 25 is so rare (especially with no kids), they may have over 100 options at any given time. If you don't sweep one up late into college, the train has left the station. It can be done, but it's an uphill battle.

I seem to only find divorced pill poppers, unstable women, women with multiple men on the side, etc. Honestly, if a woman is hot enough, I'd probably continue to see her, but the ones I'm meeting simply are not good, the pool of hot available women is small, and people generally stick to high school/college friends making finding a new clique difficult.

I don't get along with the regular guys here as well, they typically have some sort of problem with me, off the bat.

I actually think being alpha, when you aren't what society deems as alpha, throws people into this confusion. A reason I'm considering LA, I think there are more "unconventional alphas" opposed to midwest stereotype it's alpha to be devastatingly masculine at all times.

To use a celebrity example, Johnny Depp would be an unconventional alpha in my opinion. Clive Owen would be a conventional alpha.

The reason you might have a problem with guys here is because this is a forum for exchanging ideas in living a players lifestyle and maximizing our masculinity. This isn't a place for narcissistic rants like the one you just posted.

I'm only pointing out that there's different kinds of alpha...it's not one-size-fits-all like society believes. Shouldn't be a topic of contention.

I dont see why people are going crazy.

I was thinking this same thing earlier this week. If you are an unconventional alpha, people really dont know what to make of you. I find that in general, women really dont know what to make of me because nothing about me is "typical". It's like there are archetypes and if you break those molds people stare at you like you just came out of the sky.

Gay guys can be alpha males.
Toby Macguire can be an alpha male.
Women can be an alpha male.
Cartoons can be alpha males.

Biologically, not every guy can be a 6'2 "tradional alpha".

Gay guys can be "alpha gay" I'm sure. Although, considering that's of no interest to me, it's irrelevant.

I'm talking about guys being alpha in regards to women, but not being society-deemed alpha in the sense that we've come to know it.

For example, an unconventional alpha, can have a more alpha mentality and way of life than the most traditional alpha - it's just the that more traditional alpha is biologically seen as more alpha, even if he is slightly beta on occasion.

The concept of being an Alpha is doing you without being influenced by the perceptions of others, otherwise you'd be an AFC. All of these people who are Alpha are Alpha because they are on their own shit and don't depend on mainstream culture to determine what they "should" do. I think its somewhat relevant because bros are always asking questions like "should I do this or that" or "Is this Alpha". If they are asking our opinions about their frame, then they are either doomed from the start or are Beta.

There's no real difference between a conventional alpha and an unconventional alpha.

An alpha male is just a confident dude who isn't afraid to express himself and ask for what he wants. A "metro" guy could easily be alpha. There is nothing alpha about wearing tap out shirts. It's also not really anything to do with height, muscles, or even how many girls you've banged, although those things can certainly make it easier to become alpha.

Why do we always have to label behaviour? Sure, there's some behaviour more conducive to attracting hot women than others, but this empirical observation doesn't necessitate the classification of every goddamn action into arbitrary categories based on a 'consensus' of what is 'alpha' and what is 'beta'.

Seriously, man - way to overthink this shit. If you have to run on definitions, 'alpha' is what gets you the lay, be it treating her like shit or writing her a fucking sonnet.

This is a good point. It almost makes people mad (men & women) if a non-traditional alpha guy behaves alpha.

You may indeed be alpha, but you aren't in the proper environment to capitalize on it. You sound much more suited for city life. There's a lot more younger hotter women too who would dig your vibe.

You need to move, that's your most pressing problem.

I don't have a problem with anyone talking about themselves. We all do it to some extent to relate to each other and have common ground. But just read that first post. How many times does the word "I" come up?

The guy could have started a valid discussion on conventional 'alpha' traits as it relates to geography, but the whole thing came off as some weird self-aggrandizing ego-driven jerk-fest. It's fine to describe yourself, but that bit about taekwondo, div 2 soccer, throwing a perfect spiral...
