Why no shorts ? I use to only wear shorts and a cut sleeve shirt and I had girls come up to me , in Colombia I have tann skin and dark hair too.

Not in Colombia. Only Argentinian men wear their hair long. Colombian men are usually short, police or business style for older men, and for the youngbloods under 30, it's the messy look with some faux hawks running around too. But seldom long like in Argentina. Chicks do not really dig that look form what I've heard.

Shorts are the stereotype of what ALL gringos wear. You won't see any Colombian men wearing them unless you are in Cartagena or Barranquilla where its a beach town. However, in Medellin, shorts=gringo - period.

I'm not saying women won't come up to you, especially if you are a good looking guy, but they sure as heck won't be anything higher than an 8 in Medellin, Bogota, Pereira or Cali. fashion is huge, and cargo shorts are not considered fashion - not even in Miami.

Shorts are only acceptable on the soccer field, not walking around the mall swooping.

Just ask a colombiana what she thinks when she sees a guy wearing shorts in Medellin =)

Mixxmaster is correct on both fronts:

1. Only Argentine guys have long hair.
2. Shorts in Colombia = gringo. Exception is if you're going to the gym or taking a jog.

I think Mixmaster is really spot on in his comments. So far my own observations are in line with his - although i havent tested all these poorer neighbourhoods yet.

And hey, don't be afraid you're gonna miss the white stuff. It'll find you as you look like a gringo and speak english. I mean, as you walk out from any club for a smoke , there's like 4 guys wanting to sell it to you. Or in a techno party, the dealers are inside and plenty. Or just ask any taxi driver.

I don't want to get bogged down in defending Bogota, since most people prefer Medellin (even Rolos) and I understand why. Having said that, in spite of Medellin's recent award for being a modern city, do not be fooled- Bogota is by far and away the cultural capital of Colombia. Someone mentioned they had heard it was Medellin, and I just wanted to offer a different opinion. Now if you're looking for maybe a more genuine, authentic, Colombian experience (less metropolitan) then one could make the case for non Parque Leeras parts of Medellin. But if that's you're overwhelming priority, you may as well go to a pueblo and save a couple sheckles.

Secondly, Bogota being labeled as across the board 'cold' is false. 'Colder' and even 'coldest CITY in Colombia is fair butTemperature is just too subjective. If you're from the northeast or a Boston-esque climate, Bogota is fine and Medellin is hot. Yes, it's too rainy although this last year has been much better. Temperature in Colombia changes with altitude, not seasons. Seasons here only indicate rainfall.

Lastly, and this going to sound petty but being from Northern US, in the summertime (for me, anything medellin or hotter) and even Spring I'm a strict flip-flop and shorts guy. You cannot do that in Medellin without immediately being sized-up as a backpacker kid, sex tourist, vacationer gringo just trying to get laid, or robbery target. Temp-wise I'd rather sweat in flip-flops in Villavicencio then be miserably hot in jeans in Medellin. But again im a near-lifelong northerner from USA.

Seriously? Troll? Yes, all Colombian pesos. About 1,830 per dollar today I think. But not much need to convert as you can just go to a bank. If you're having trouble with an American ATM card, look for a CitiBank.

Yes, but more typically in costlier neighborhoods like lleras in Medellin or zona T in bogota because while plastic surgery is incredibly cheap it's still expensive for many Colombians. More common in Medellin and Cali (%, not total) because many rolas do not want people to think they're prepagos. But go a decent club in Bogota or Medellin at night and your jaw will often drop.

Oh man, if that picture is quality, then the US is so down in the gutter that I don't think the women there are can even be considered real women anymore. As little as I like ours, I will be the first to admit those in the pictures are 4s and 5s at best. They are in the bottom of the barrel.

Also have no idea from the sentence strucure if he means that the girls are 4's and 5's. if that girl dead center in black with bright rainbow shorts is a 4/5. $1,000 bucks says the dude is gay. That or I need to change my retirement city to Medellin.

(Note I also suffer from Latina goggles, which impacts 5% of men world wide).
