I hate beggars, my wife's mother was a piss poor, poverty stricken farm hand who could barely afford food for her children but by god she worked and eventually was able to get her children into school.

My grandmother was a poor 3rd world immigrant who when her husband died, washed floors and scrubbed toilets to give my dad food and clothing.
Both of my parents basically grew up in poor families and managed 80k+ jobs.

What the fuck is wrong with beggars? These ungreatful suns of bitches are everywhere.

I've met so many on my travels and I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that the majority of beggars are on the street because of their own consistently shitty life decisions. I know one guy who went from being a university masters grad, to the street, to being a top paid teacher and then right back on the street again. He had a super bad attitude about everything and was ALWAYS playing the victim card and would get violent if anyone disagreed with him... always looking for handouts.

Once when I was about 14, I was taking a test in a far off city, my mother had given me 2 bucks... 1 for lunch and 1 to call home with when I was finished... saw 2 poor people that were looking for handouts. I thought I could spare .25 cents, so I walked up and proudly presented them with the coin, they looked at me and said "got any more?". I gave them the rest forgetting that I needed to call home. I went back to them after and explained that I needed a dollar to call home with... you think those bastards would give me back my money? Not a chance. Had to beg the Tim Hortons to let me use their phone.

Another time I was waiting in line for a nightclub and a guy came up and asked if I had any change. He wouldn't leave me alone after I said no. Then I told him to 'get a job' and he suddenly became violent telling me he was in the Canadian army. I honestly believed him at the time and was scared, I was 18. Gave him 2 bucks... Thinking back why the hell would an army vet who makes $2000/month need to beg? Army vets are highly educated individuals with real skills. He basically robbed me.

Had some chinese beggars constantly tap me with their heads, older guys. Saying 'Laowai! Laowai! Please!' I handed one .50 cents and he tried to rip the other .50 out of my hand. I grabbed my .50 cents back, forced it out of his hand and shoved him back. Someone mentioned that I would have to pay his medical bills as apparently he had fallen on the floor. I told that person that if I have to pay his medical bills he would be going to the hospital in a body bag.

Please don't give beggars money. That includes taking dates to starbucks or buying whiney women whatever they want. People who are greatful will always show their gratitude. Same goes for people who want to borrow money, they are usually the people most likely to end up on the street next. I can make 100 bucks last a couple months, I know some people who can't make it last a few hours.

There's a dude that comes into my work that actually wears a handmade sign around his neck asking for change. He's young, healthy, and capable of working. He once told me that he makes roughly $30 per day, which is more than enough to keep him from getting a job. I think he's the loser because he has no pride and begs for spare change. He thinks I'm the loser because I get up and go to work everyday.

When I was in India, there would be women walking around with infants asking for money. Well, they would make a hand gesture that they were hungry. I tried to give one some food but she didn't want it. I later heard it probably wasn't even her baby. haha

A lot of bums are mentally ill. I don't really have anything bad to say about those guys. There are two kinds of beggars that piss me off. The able-bodies gutter punk kids. What a fucking waste of life they are. The other people that I hate are women who beg with their kids. What kind of example are you setting for them in life?

I remember being back in college and there was this chick I used to be good friends with. One day we were walking home from college and stop off in Mac Donalds to grab something to eat on the bus journey back.

Whilst in there my phone rings and I go outside to see who it is after I get off the phone a homeless guy comes up to me and tells me he hasnt eaten anything solid in two days and askes me for some change I said to him not to worry about it and Il get him something to eat.

I can't lie I pretty much did it to impress the chick at the time and make myself seem like a good guy. Went back inside and bought the guy a big mac burger. When I handed the burger to the homeless guy he slapped it out of my hand onto the ground and said "I might be homeless but I refuse to eat shit" I went rage mode and asked him how the has the fucking cheek to disregard food in his position, tells me to fuck off and says he would rather starve to death.
So yeah fuck them I understand that some people have it rough and live wages to wages every month and then there are people who just do not try

I'm sure that most homeless guys know where to get a free meal. If they want money, there's a good chance it's for booze or drugs.

I was waiting at the bus stop recently and a guy in his mid 20's, looked to be in great shape, approached the middle-aged woman next to me and said he needed money for food. She told him the name of a local mission, and pointed to a police officer up the street, saying "He can give you better directions than I can." The kid walked right past the officer, I could see that up the block he was approaching others trying to beg for money.

Again, some guys are just mentally ill. Most chronically homeless people in America are, to put it bluntly, crazy. You don't have to pity them or be in favor of expansive government anti-poverty programs, but hating them is weak. Not everyone is as sane or intelligent as your grandmother or wife's mom.

I have begged before, and I hated every minute of it. I was looking for work at least 4 hours everyday, and never received any callbacks. Although, my resume did get me hit on by a lot of gay dudes.

The only reason I did it was so that I could get my dog some food. I always went to the mission for dinner. If I wanted to get drunk or stoned, I had friends that would help me out with that. Funny how booze and weed were easier to come by than food at that time. I did better than most at that hustle because I didn't look like the type that was using it to get fucked up. When I made what I needed, I would bounce because I didn't want to be out there longer than I needed to. I don't know how people can desire to turn it into a "profession". I guess I have too much pride.

I often give my change to the Native bums in Edmonton but after they ask I say "I"m only giving you this if you spend it on drugs and alcohol", they always say yes and I give them a loonie or whatever I have in my pocket.

I also do the same with my empties, if I meet a bum in the alley by my place with a shopping cart full of bottles and cans, I tell them to wait a minute while I go get them my stash, they get super stoked and their eyes light up like an Xmas tree when I come out with the empties, it make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

It's a great pity that parasites like that muddle the playing (begging) field for those who truly need help, such as people who have lost a limb, have a serious disease or misfortune, and etc. It becomes very hard to tell the difference.

I never give anyone a dollar in North America. My theory is I could help way more people with the same amount of money abroad in 2nd/ 3rd world countries so why help 1 when I can help 10. Some people give me the whole well you should help people in your country theres plenty of need here speech. But a human life is a human life. Someone from the US is equal to someone from Ghana. In my case helping 10 Cubans in place of 1 homeless Canadian makes much more sense to me.

How the heck did you manage to have a gf while being homeless in a tent teh_skeeze nevermind get a threesome? Most guys in North America think they can't get laid unless they drive a BMW and here you were pulling that off homeless. Props to you.

I remember when I first moved to where I am. I felt bad for not having any change to give the beggars and the homeless. Then once I lived here and saw that they would refuse you buying/giving them food and I was being asked for money block after block. I gave up giving a fuck.

Prior to the recession in '08, most of the people who were basically chronically homeless were people who were mentally ill. They wound up on the streets in the 80s when the federal government cut off funding for state mental hospitals. For years there was one who lived on M street in Georgetown (Wash DC). She was always asleep in a doorway, and always had these signs with nonsensical shit that only a crazy person would write. There are plenty of scammers who do this for a living. But there are also a lot of people who are just fucked up and unemployable. No matter what though, I got plenty of shit that pisses me off on any given day, but beggars are the least of my worries.

I used to hang at a divey bar and there was always this run down, dirty, heavily bearded bum at the corner of the bar. I asked someone what his deal was and they said he was "their" bum, they liked to feed him drinks and stuff, basically treated him like a pet.

Few months later I hear the bartender and a few other people got really sick, the bar was closed down and basically had to be cleaned to medical standards. Somebody said it was like tuberculosis or something equally nasty. Since then I don't want a bum within 20 feet of me, they've got 19th Century diseases.

You are about the 10th person to tell me this. I was planning on waiting for my 30th birthday to start it. I know that I want to write something autobiographical in nature, I just haven't decided on the format yet. I'll probably bounce some ideas off of my best friend next time I talk to him.

It's only difficult to those that want nothing to do with them. If you talk to them for 5 minutes, it becomes really easy to tell what that person is about.

Shot story: Cough medicine

Longer story: During that time I was one of the top guys of what they call the "Green People" (bums that hung out on the town square, named the Green). I had a job, I had a place to call my own (even though it was only a tent in the woods), and I had the respect of everyone that mattered.

She was a kid from a messed up background (essentially a ward of the state) looking to get out of her group home and move on with her life. She wasn't anything spectacular (in hindsight I call her a 6, my best friend calls her a 6.5), but I could see that the life she was living was going to get her killed. It was a case of me playing the knight in shining armor. One of the older cats that would come by after work to play chess with me told me "never forget, you are her hero". Oddly enough, when I first got with her I was playing a lot of poker. Since I'm the analytic type, I thought about her and I in poker terms. I settled on the idea that she was a JTo. Nothing special, but if it hits right, you are going to hit the payload. It also has the drawback of getting the novice into a lot of trouble because they don't know how to play it right. I guess you could say I got burned on the river.

The threesome was just being in the right place at the right time with a sprinkle of divine intervention. All I had to do was not screw it up.
