How many here have done this? I'm talking about starting in one line of work and taking a leap of faith into something that is entirely unknown for you, your family, friends, network, etc.

Example:

You start in R&D at some drug company and then find yourself in an entirely different line of work, such as basketball operations in the NBA.

What was it like taking that leap of faith? If you had to hustle during the transformation, how did you do it?

Props to you for what you did 350, I think you are bound to have great breakthrough, I have never done career changes in my life but have moved to a different city and burned my bridges intentionally so that I can focus on getting a job in this new city and guess what it paid off.

I've moved to Pittsburgh from Dallas in 2010(24 years old) to get into natural gas research(from petro engineering). My cousin was up there and got me a job but it was a career change. Worked out for me there.


BUT, in March of 12 I switched from NG Research to roofing and construction sales(to get close to Texas) and the company I was with was corrupt and I screwed myself and am unemployed now. It's tough to find a job in the 4th quarter of the year because of budget cuts but in 2013 there will be o&g companies hiring like crazy like every year so I am going to be good to go. Right now I'm working for my uncle and getting paid under the table.


Just research the company you are with and ask other people in the industry about the company you plan to work for.

I've done it. Almost your exact example, except instead of the NBA I switched to law. NBA sounds like it might be more fun....but that's just an outsiders perspective.

I knew others who had done what I did, and it is a more traveled path than what you're suggesting there.

Done that instead of finishing 13 Grade in School,
I decided to take a 12 Month Pause and Learn about business from one of my ex Mentor's. The first Guy' I got to no who lived the life that I wanted to live..

So I thought f*** you to my broke School Teachers I am going to learn from a Multimillionaire now no offence you're cool but i don't want to have the results that you have.

My Parents where against it my friends said what ever makes you happy family was against it but that was the first time I actualy made a real life decision fore myself to learn from people who are succesful instead of Average.

12 Month's after that I quit school fore good moved out of my Parents house worked on the Business and decided to get a job in the what I believe is the smartest company in the World when it comes to System's Mc DOnalds...

I learnd alot from there since my Boss hat build up alot of different mc donalds stores and I experienced how it works when they build a new on and what the procces is how organized everything is it was awseome.

I don't like the food, but I love the Company and learned alot about systems team work and having a process in Business that works.

In that time I whent true alot of ups and downs networked alot partied alot had trouble with my family. I switched chops alot aswell and kept on learning different things until I decided it's time to leave the Job ore self employed world completly and focuss on my own thing primarley and make it succesful.

Most Business I tryed out failed and I went true alot of up's and downs Financially, emotionaly and with my relationship situations.

But what kept me going was the vision I had for my realty and my believe in myself that if I try enough times and change my approach I finaly will make it. That I met my Friend and now Business Partner who made my Year'S salary in a fucking Day and I was stunned.

I quit my Job again I worked in Street sales in big super markets hustling people to buy a kind of spray to clean you'e glasses and decided to say fuck it. I had a few other challenges at that time but I knew that Trading was for me and that I will me able to master it.....

To make a long story short it took my another 12 Month's to make it sometimes working 18 houer days networking like cracy and connecting with other's even loosing almost everything I owned my Apartment, some friends sometimes even my mind.

But I never gave up on myself and believed in my Vision. Now I make better returns than my Friend who introuduced me to trading I cane say fuck you to anyone on the planet including him If I want to..I never need to Work a day in my Life to earn an above average Income and since I invest in Smart People I don't even need to Trade to earn an above Average Income....

But I choose to do so since my Vision hasen't stoped and I am not where I want to be I am happy, I am comfortable I am fulflield but I have Potential fore much much more 5K a Day 10 K A Day is nice but boring I am looking fore the real success teh 100K per Day 200K succes That'S what I want when it comes to Casflow and arround 360 Million US Dollars that is what I always wanted since I was 17 in Terms of Networth that is what I deserve and that is what I will get fore myself...

There is actualy nothing else I would rather do so it's all about breaking succes limits to me and enjoying my Life, meeting great People and eating good food.

The vision is what keep's you going if you're depressed broke and want to kill you'reself the Vision of beeing the guy cruising on his sunseeker predator 108 with a few friends and business partners the vision of beeing in a Position to change peoples live and take advantage of oppertunities. What ever you're vision for you'reself is That will help you moove true uncertainty you're hunger fore more you're desire for getting what you deserve.

That's how I do it focuss on what I want and create a Stress free enviroment fore myself that helps me moove towards that and even though I am in a cool position now there is no reason to stop since I haven't even touched a bit of my full potential and

you never no what you're cabable of until you have actualy done and achieved certain results fore you'reself in you're own Life.

The Result's that you want to achieve not the Results society, you're family, you're friends, this forum ore I want you to achieve but the Results YOU WANT.

Team just let me go. On the outside looking in again. Frustrating, and it was hard as hell to even get that entry level position with them in the first place. So no cheerleaders for me right now...

I hate being on the outside looking in more than anything, but I think I'll keep at it. It's just so irritating that I have to waste another season to try again.

At one point I was a bit confused with what I wanted and I quit medical school to do accounting. Then after 2 weeks of studying accounting I was like, "Hell no. This is not solving the problems that made me leave medicine." So I went back to medicine.

It was important as a means to clear my head. Trying to change ruts made me appreciate my rut more.

I have done it several times. It always feels like jumping into a pool head first without knowing if there is water there. I changed careers three times. When I moved to the Netherlands, I sold my house and most of what I had. It was stressful for about the first two months but then ended up being like I had always lived there. I then did the same thing when I moved to Mexico. Every time I changed I ended up in a better position and learning new things.

I've changed career 3 times, I even scrapped my degree. It's difficult as each time you think you're starting at the bottom, i can resonate with Sherman's last line.

Sometimes you have to move to an area where your degree is more relevant. If I stayed in the hick-ass down where I grew up I'd be
swinging a hammer for a living. I did manual labor for a long time until I got my Engineering degree. Problem was there were no Engineering jobs
where I lived so I had to relocate to where the action is. That's why I live just outside of NYC.

I started out as an engineer and then switched to law. I now trade stocks and futures at home. My last profession allows me to live anywhere in the world. I also went to Thailand recently and picked up a CELTA degree to teach English.

Just keep at it buddy. On the bright side, you have developed a solid network within the organization which will help you get a break in the future.If it's really something that you want to do and pursue as a career long-term, my advise is to keep networking. Maintain those relationships that you made during your time there.

I'm contemplating going back to college atm, would love to hear some experiences from people who did this at age 24+
