Berlin relocation
I recently got a tech job offer to relocate in berlin. The payment is not so great(taxes kill you although the city is cheap by european standards), but i'm curious about the opportunity of living abroad in this german multicultural city. Im in my early 30s so the question is, is berlin a good option to live and work for a while? is it a singles friendly city? what about the women? i have heard that they are not too pretty(if you compare them to czech or hungarian women) or too fashion glitzy oriented. I dont speak german but i know the basics and i would definitely do my best to try mastering the language. I have also heard about the crazy nightlife and although i'm not into drugs or bizarre things, i would definitely appreciate having some fun in the night..
Any info would be very welcomed!

RE: Berlin relocation
Hi Scarecr0w,

I am not Living in Berlin so there might be people here who cane help you out more. But I have been there and the way I see it Berlin is great if you're into the techno Music ore alternative seen.
There are alot of artsy people there but on the other hand berlin hase realy ugly sides aswell. And sometimes people cane be realy rude there so going there fore 1 week ore to might be great but actualy living there especially in the Winter not my Cup of Tea..

Maybe there is a Berliner who can give you more details ore even better just use the Search function to find threads about Berlin..Since you are not the first Gux who went there comming from this Forrum.

Hope that helps

RE: Berlin relocation
Im a Berliner and can answer your questions.

- very single friendly, lots of people move here = lots of girls without social circle
- lots of good looking girls from all over the world, its a big city...
- lots of nightlife options, you cant party harder anywhere else, trust me

RE: Berlin relocation
I recently moved here. While I haven't gone hard with the nightlife, so far I don't get the hype. The male/female ratios are the worst I've ever seen. It's common to see 80% guys in a venue. Maybe I'm not hitting the right joints. Neither do I have the endurance to stick around until 6am.

BoiBoi, what is a good spot for nice college-age german girls?
A place where an average guy could open 5-10 girls in a span of a few hours.

I studied abroad in Berlin for a month, and currently will be studying abroad again in Berlin from Jan 2013 to April 2013, and probably will stay there longer into the summer. How long will you be in Berlin?

It has good nightlife and the people are very friendly from what I saw.

I still have little experience, but I can tell you to stay out of Kreuzberg at night. There is a large Turkish population that is hostile at night.

I dont know yet, but if i decide to relocate i would stay there 1 year minimum..
One advantage i see is that berlin has a great location in europe, you can go everywhere from there fast..
I would still like to know more opinions about women there, specially german women cause
im not that interested in foreign ones living there(although i know they can be really cute)

The foreign women tend to be hotter definetly and more laid back to deal with than german women.
Berlin has become that much of a cosmopolitan city where so much blood mixing occured, you can never be sure that the girl you're hitting on actually is german.

RE: Berlin relocation
There are whole lot of Russian girls in Berlin.Unfortunately many of them pick up the trends of German women(rampant lesbianism etc) but always keep a feminine angle. For sure Russo-German relations take a lot of place in Berlin and other German cities.

RE: Berlin relocation
Recently spent two days in Berlin while visiting the Japanese embassy there.

Great city. Loved the vibe, which is noticably different from the rest of Germany.

Also very cosmopolitan, with lots of fine women from all over the world. If you're not typical German girls, there are plenty of other nationalities and ethnicities all over the place.

Disclamer: I am not the Sargon of Akkad from Youtube and I have no relation whatsoever to that person...also, I don't give a shit about videogames.

That ain't gonna work............

Its 2 hours so if you worked near the main Ostbahnhof its possible.
Point taken on a long commute but the chicks on Poland are so much better than living in a cockfest like Berlin.
Perhaps a smaller Polish town on the border like Rzepin would be more sensible

Not really, its a big city, so it depends on the venues you go to.

Hey Berlin is awesome if you find your niche! Poznan is a sleepy little student town with bugger all to do.

I'll leave answering that question to someone that's actually been to Berlin.

But a better question might be: Are Polish women that good AND are the pickings available in Berlin so meagre that I wanna burn 5-6 hours each day travelling from home to work, time that could be used doing something more productive?

From my experience of Germany I feel very confident in answering that question with a No...............................

That's precisely why I backed down on the commute thing so apologies and lets move on.
Regarding Berlin I have found it very hit and miss (been there 4 times) and would rather be in Poland any day but that is just my opinion. We need a Berlin expert to help this chap (and note to myself to keep my polish bias to myself on non Poland threads)

Don't beat yourself up, this gave me some good ideas-- I have a skill I can make money off in Germany, but realizing Poland is nearby and one could commute on a weekly basis, if not a daily one, makes for some good possibilities. You could work in Germany a couple days a week and live in Poland the rest. Most jobs aren't like that, but thank god I can avoid most jobs now.

RE: Berlin relocation
I'm not an expert but I spent some time in Berlin last month and I think it has potential for any single 30 something guy. Whether or not the women are cute and in abundance depends on where you're moving from. I went from Berlin to Poznan and the difference was obvious (in Poland's favor) the moment I stepped off the train. But Berlin has a fair amount of cute, young girls on the streets, in the malls and in the pubs I visited. The ratio wasn't the best, but again, coming from America it's like heaven.
Again, only one visit for me so take my comment with less weight than our resident Berlin experts who chime in. I'll be back there next month but don't plan on going all-out. For me, my energy is better spent in other cities.

Let me put it this way.

In Berlin, I saw German guys who looked like variations of a young Brad Pitt, dressed in that hipster shabby chic style, walking around with big-jawed German women who I'd rate as 4s and 5s, looking as happy as pigs rolling in shit.

Well that's the busted chic test passed with flying colours Smile
The oppos in Berlin seem to be mainly with the non German occupants.
