Corporate America bows for women
So xyz consulting company (which I have no affiliation with), as well as the rest of corporate American in general, focuses on recruiting women over men despite equal qualifications. Furthermore, they encourage women to return to the company after taking a few years off to have children. In fact, a woman I know took off for A DECADE to "raise a family" and was eagerly hired back into the corporate workforce. 10 years of dust on her skills and acumen and her gender still put her above dozens of qualified male candidates.

All this just to "diversify" the high-level positions (which are currently mostly male dominated).

Once these women are actually the majority in higher-level positions, will the males be forced into corporate slavery? Or will they be compassionate and allow the males to take off a few years to help raise the kids and come back?

This must be what feminists mean by gender equality.

Sadly what you are saying is true, I had to find some contacts on Linkedin this week and was shocked at some of the jobs these girls have. Amazing to see how many bimbo's have Director positions or HR jobs with fancy names.

RE: Corporate America bows for women
Corporate America needs men in charge to thrive, because men take risks to create new things. Women just maintain the status quo, hence they are very talented at HR and paper-pushing.

Men also can make plans and execute them step by step until they succeed, often with considerable hardship and frequent failure. Women can start businesses too, but they usually sell knitted kitchen accessories or artisanal cupcakes. Men's companies are usually in boring, but profitable industries.

The vast majority of women simply do not have the useful skills that men do, however, women have an advantage in networking and office politics that help them get ahead of otherwise qualified male colleagues. So while men control the top spots, women wind up in middle management.

It is called positive discrimination, something that I don't really understand.

Why choose someone based on gender or race instead of knowledge and ability to do their work? No idea, but I don't think it is a good way to do good business.

RE: Corporate America bows for women
In my work I've noticed that I don't really know of any real female investment bankers. There have been a few in niche areas that come and go within a year, unable to hack it. Not only does it required knowledge of the market and finance (which anyone can attain regardless of gender) the job requires schmoozing with the top players (CEOs CFOs Treasurers - most of whom are men) as well as constant risk taking. These guys have to be able to make a case for a deal and "project" its profitability to risk management. They risk their reputations numerous times per year to get these deals done and generate revenue for the bank. They also will put in whatever time it takes, working all night to coordinate their teams to get something done. Oftentimes, an analyst will drop off a stack of pitchbooks to the banker at 4am the day the bankers flight leaves to go meet the client at 6am. It is constant balls to the wall mode for many of these guys and I guess the women are 1)unwilling to work - they must get their beauty sleep! 2) unwilling to take risks - they've worked too hard for this career to risk it now! and 3) most of the c-suite guys (CEOs CFOs) don't want to kick it with a woman to discuss not only the deal at hand but also money, politics, sports, etc.

In the US, at least it is voluntary! in Norway they have quotas for females. politicians are discussing the same in the E U right now. Literally no qualification but ownership of a vagina will be required to fill a high level job then...

Why would you care? I'd never do a HR job, and I wouldn't probably hire a guy to babysit a kid or clean my house.
