I am really bad at memorizing, and unfortunately for me, I have two exams in December i.e Cost Accounting & Business Law. Both the exams are gonna have, Five 20 Mark questions, and I will get 3:15 hrs. I can only write very brief answers, the longest I can do would be around 200 words.

Do it in advance. I struggle with this too, and there's really no way around it except practice. Write out a bunch of practice essays and then review them a day or two later.

Write out the answers first, then choose one key word to represent each point you need to make and list them on an index card. Quiz yourself over and over until you memorize each word and the point it represents. When you take the test, write down your keywords first then do the essay.

It's only hard to memorize when you say things like "I'm no good at memorizing," so when you sit down to study the index cards tell yourself something like: "Memorizing is easy, it just takes time and practice."

All good advice.

Another option -- create a rap song/poem for the half a dozen key concepts you have a hard time understanding. Here is a piece of one I still remember after all these years -- from Macroeconomics.

Here is something we should understand
How the price index affects aggregate demand
First the price index goes up we found
Then the money supply goes down down down...
But when supply goes down
Then demand gets high,
And people don't sell, they buy buy buy

Two things for studying:
Learn to apply the concepts to every day life. I always liked Econ because I could apply complicated rules and principles to basic situations like the ratio in a nightclub or how sluts affect the market.

What I always did to cram for very long essay answers was pay more attention to what the teacher was talking about than what was actually in the book. Most of the time teachers will give you all the resources you need for writing an exam. Then once you get the exam, basically argue everything from how the teacher presented it, but make sure to add enough "enthusiastic flair" to bits of it (by using interesting language) to get them sucked in.

If they like it, it could even be wrong but they're going to give you more credit. I have effectively bullshitted my way through a huge number of essays doing this. Basically learn to have a one sided conversation and it comes very naturally.

Memorizing is a learned skill like any other. There are lots of good resources out there on improving memory, memory techniques and the like. It's a worthwhile investment for any endeavour.

This is how you do it in law school. Law School grades are decided by 1 exam. Which is usually 1 test, 3-4 essays, over the entire semester.

Look back through the semester, and outline everything. (in law school, you keep a running outline)

Edit your outline down to 1 page.

Rewrite (BY HAND) that one page until you have it memorized.

Should take you a weekend to get the outline, and then rewrite that outline every day until your exam.

Yes that can work.

The back-store of the thong thing is that it was what I used because I did not think of the idea until last minute, so I went to the store and bought something where I knew the phone would not fall out. Basically anything that would hold it in your crotch with out the risk of it falling out - Boxers over top of compression shorts would be better actually.

I learned this trick from a girl whom would stuff her Iphone under her bra - I dismissed it - but when I was in the same scenario and had two tests almost back to back I last minute took the plunge. Now I used it for a good chunk of my tests, I have no remorse. Morality goes out the window when you have 30-50K on the line for school costs... they hustle me... I will hustle them. Get your grades by any means necessary, there are no cookies given out if you get your GPA with a clean nose and the one beside you does not.

Regardless of what rules are in place the bathroom is still very taboo and a off-limit environment. The key is just to be well organized and still well versed in your material so you can have highly consolidated notes/diagrams and quickly retrieve them while in the stall.

I do what Kosko does...

Write the essays beforehand on index cards. Memorize the index cards as best you can. When you need to refer to them, go to the bathroom and pull them out of your pocket.

If you've got access to all the possible questions, practice them all multiple times, and use the cards to remember key points as mentioned above.

Also, working on your writing skills is huge. A good writer can bullshit just about anything.

It's unseen! I can only get a hold of the past papers. Good advice by most people here. I haven't studied at all, so it's gonna be very hard for me, but yet I can't give up. The teachers make me fall asleep, in fact I usually sleep in class.

I used push adderall in college so I'd just take a pill the afternoon before, study and rehearse the material all night. Take the test the next day still on the addie, they increase alertness and retention, so I was golden on test day.

If you don't have a connect the iPod scheme sounds legit too.

Gingko Biloba might help me pass! I do noy get time to study at all,my average daily commute is 4 hours, and then I stay outside doing daygame, working out, going to bars, watching movies,etc. I donno how people get time to study..
