I've been lifting hard and have reached the point where my 12 inch drop (42 chest, 30 waist) means I can no longer wear off the rack suits. I've decided to go bespoke. Any one got any tips for style features I should incorporate to suit an athletic figure with a large drop?

You can also choose made-to-measure, which, though more expensive than OTR, is less than bespoke. You get a unique tailored fit without having to go through the process of developing a completely unique suit.

I don't know where you live, but Brooks Brothers, which has locations all over North America, has a good made-to-measure service in their main stores. A quality suit through that service runs $1400-1500 CDN. I'm guessing around $1200-1300 in the U.S. They also offer discounts if you order more than one suit, which is nice.

For bespoke done right, ideally you would want something done in (especially) London, UK or New York. Savile Row is the high street in London where the world's best bespoke suits are made. Many of these tailors have annual or semi-annual trunk shows in various U.S. cities. If you visit their websites, they list the cities and dates. Many only go to New York, but some travel to other cities like Las Vegas and Atlanta.

If you want to show off the chest you've worked so hard on
- high (yet huge) armholes (which you should get with any bespoke suit)
- double vents (allows the jacket to come in more, for more a V look)
- in terms of the gorge, i'd go with a 2 button suit, maybe a 3 button rolled into a 2.

- lapel size - you can go wider if you want to emphasize the chest.

- lapel size - Peak is in style, and will help with the emphasis. (Shawl and Notch are some other options)

- breast pocket - Barchetta maybe?

Here's a good blog post on some of the details you can get if you go with an Italian style (which tends to emphasize the V. British/Japanese style is more 2nd skin, and American is built for comfort)

Keep in mind, the more V you go, the more likely you'll get into more shoulder padding. Most guys prefer a natural shoulder, even if it's not that visually flattering.

There is a tailor called Maxwell that travels the world, he is based out of Asia and you are looking around $600 for a suit.

Not sure where you are located but he comes to Canada once or twice a year.

yes friends, to place an order for the first bespoke suit is not easy as we think, but when it was my first time then i ordered online for the suit from jjstailors. My experience was so good.
