I am in college and I intentionally go out jogging with no shirt. I have an athletic build (6'2 175 lbs) and good looks ( people say i look like chris brown)but it's only noticeable if I wear workout gear.

As I was running a group of two girls passed and one they got a bit away, they complimented my physique. I said thanks but I need advice on how to handle this

storm - Runners typically don't stop to talk fashion. It would need to be more topical.

This is something that I've been wondering about as well. How the hell do you talk to other runners without coming off creepy. Suddenly changing directions seems a bit off if they are coming towards you. And runners typically don't stop for long enough to talk, even if you do get in their way.

I've thought of making up some bullshit line about a hazard ahead but still can't really go "Hey. There is a huge mud puddle ahead, try not to fall in it. Give me your number so I can call you later and make sure you're ok." Actually... that's not the worst thing I've ever heard of. I might trial that at the park tomorrow. If someone has any better plan or experience with this, I'm all ears. Well technically eyes....

Its funny how it looks better on paper than it did in my head. I read it and see a joke, a cocky tone and a big old smirk. In my head, it was just a monotone.

If you went back towards them to continue talking it would reek of desperation. Because you lapped up their compliment they would know it meant a lot to you; therefore, it probably doesn't happen often (even if it does).

Take the compliment and go. Feed it to your ego and use it later while trying to scout talent.

Make them think you had your shirt off simply because it was hot out and you did so for your comfort, not for their eye-rape. Anything else seems insecure.

The same thing has happened to me (a couple times actually), and every time I've seen those girls at parties/bars/etc. and they immediately started the conversation; which led to a pick up.

If I were to proposition them with my shirt off at initial contact, all would have been gone as I would have been sorted into the "tool" category.

You did the right thing.

Ok, I got it now, they complimented your body as they were running away. This is very simple, YOU NEEDED TO STOP THEM. This would have been a good time to "Elderly".

A simple "call out" would work here: Something like - "Hey girls!" or "Excuse me ladies!". They would have stopped and turned to face you. Now, you can continue with your "elderly opener"...

"Where does this trail lead to?
"How long does it take to get to the end of this path"
"Where can I buy something to eat around here"
"Does this path lead back to the main road"

Something like that. Play dumb. Just get the conversation started. They would have answered your question and continued admiring your body. Then you could have said..

"Thanks, do you girls want to jog together sometime?"

Simple as that! It could happen in less then one minute. Call them in a few days, invite them out for a run, go get breakfast or lunch after the run, set up a date #2 that involves alcohol, next thing you know you are banging one of them!

It's simple guys! Why let some pussy just run away from you, at least try to stop them and get a chat going!

Stopping a girl who is running/walking the opposite direction as you takes some balls, I face that situation everyday on the streets and sidewalks, it can be tricky but the more confident and ballsy you are, the better!

Describe a situation where you have had trouble opening?

Most guys are afraid to stop girls. You just have to hold out your hand and say "excuse me". Then be prepared to ask a simple question, then drop some bait that hopefully gets her to ask you a question, then suggest jogging together sometime and get her number. That is the overly simplified version of it.

This reply has merit as well. College is mostly social circle game, so sometimes it's better just to build a rep than it is to do the cold approach game.

I would say if you do stop other girls who are running, to be sure to play up a really friendly vibe so you don't burn any bridges.

Sure, if you know you will see those girls again, then it makes perfect sense to not stop and talk to them. You will have opportunities the game them in the future.

But, if these girls are complete strangers who you will never see again, it would be foolish to let them run away without talking to them. The best girls to talk to are the one who give you iois, they girls gave a huge ioi.

You will only appear desperate if you act desperately. If you have a big desperate smile on your face like you have never received any female attention and your body language is needy and you run back to the girls saying..."thanks for the compliment, you guys are cute too, wanna talk sometime". That might appear desperate.

But, if you believe that you are cooler and higher status then the girls and you slowly turn and say..."hey girls, let me ask you something, does this trail lead back to the main road".

That seems like a more sincere question. From here you can transition into more personal conversations and try to get her number.

You have to be a good actor in this game. You have to learn how to appear not desperate even when you are desperate. You have to learn how to appear not nervous even when you are nervous. We all should take acting classes!

True- It is all in the context of one's environment.

I come from the vantage point of being in a town where there is three colleges and only 30,000 residents. I know that if a girl wants to find out who I am, through reputation and networking, it can easily be done.

If you know that you have built up a name/reputation for yourself, girls can find you if they so choose. Even if they don't seek you out, the odds are in your favor that you'll see them again at a party/bar/school event etc. I have made it so that I can be found almost anywhere at a campus setting (I work events, tutor calculus, give campus tours, throw bomb-ass hot tub parties, etc.)

If this is the case for you, it is just better to remain silent and be seen. These girls will take note and initiate contact after a couple of drinks are in their system, at this point, it is basically on you to not fuck it up.

That is where I was coming from, which, in hindsight is definately a minority of the case(s) of which the posters here were referring. In that case, yes, hit them with an opener.

I'm running, I get a compliment, I'm halfway past them before it registers and I can muster any response at all. It feels awkward and needy to suddenly turn around and start chasing after them. I usually get off a terse "Thanks" and keep chugging away.

Fitness is a big part of my lifestyle, and I also don't like to stop working out for a tenuous connection either.

My most common compliment is "Nice tattoo" which obviously means "nice body". Not as lean as my younger years, but I've been lifting hard for decades and it shows. Add in some epic body art, and I've got a very distinctive look.

They're interested, they want to be approached. As others have said, running back to them only looks desperate if you are desperate. Go direct. If a girl in a bar or a club compliments you on something you don't start talking about the lights being too dim and where has better light.

Fuck that. Go direct. She's complimented your body, that means she is perfectly fine and willing for you to go over and flirt with her and then take your dick at a later time. You've got a neg sorted straight off the bat.
