I'm going to say that for those with a bit of age,
then acting or doing some standup bits may be the best chance for small time local fame. Even if its just at the near by theater. Having more life experience will be a big plus in these two gigs.

I wouldn't bother with musician unless you have been doing it as a hobby for years, I doubt you will make it from green to big time. But who knows, maybe you have a crazy voice when you sing that will get you noticed. If you just want to play small gigs at the local bars and soften up the crowd, then learning an instrument may be a good approach to small time fame.

Been writing story's and jokes etc over the last few weeks, and with any luck, I can compile enough to start performing in a few weeks time. And I'm to trying cross my stories over to the game front too. But they still need a lot of tweaking to make them girl funny, but hell, If I can take the same material and use it at work and play then I'm stoked.

I have a different perspective on this. Why not become the guy in a country where its easier to become the guy. I.e. Carribbean or South America. In my experience in Cuba, the reggaeton stars are legit guys and open to chat/ make friends including with foreigners. Why not hang out with these type of people and profit. Probably, a lot easier than becoming famous in the US. The problem in the US is that whether you like it or not, even if you chat with Pitbull, Ben Affleck whoever unless, you are part of their social crowd you'll never hang out with these people...and unless you're already famous or an extremely good looking women which I doubt anyone on this board is it won't happen. In Cuba by contrast its very easy to interact with the celebrities and assuming your not a whoremonger and halfway normal making friends with these guys is far from difficult...as long as you can fit in / dress well / speak well (the language) etc. I'm sure this can be replicated in any country where your income would be somewhat in line with local celebrities. Which is a surprising amount of countries / 3rd tier cities. I.e. don't think Paris, London, Madrid. Think 3rd tier colombian cities, peru, ecuador, dominican etc.

I would imagine you'll be more famous online than in real life travelling circles. I already met people who knew of me while I was still traveling and only had a small blog. Since then I have released a book, sold a few hundreds copies, use twitter, done interviews and promoted towards the backpacking world. I guess it's talked about by backpackers. Especially since girls and fucking are a popular subject to talk about around the hostels kitchen table while downing beers.

Roosh and NN are aiming for the manosphere followers while I'm promoting towards backpackers and a little bit of manosphere. I really don't care much for the whole anti-feminism thing and barely focus on that. The problem is not as bad in Holland and I can't be bothered with it too much either. Sure I don't like to see fat girls with an attitude but I just ignore them and don't even think about them. If i'm not succesful in my love life then it's my fault not theirs. There are still plenty of hot girls around.

Also,
My way of traveling is very different from Roosh and NN. Roosh goes from country to country by staying in the same place with an apartment and more spending money. Naughty Nomad takes short trips with a bigger budget then me. You also have to realize that Roosh is considered a women abusing hater even by most guys that are backpacking. The male backpacking crowd is 99.9 beta.

My book is a mix of backpacking stories/personal demons and picking up stories.

This is a topic I've thought about considerably as well. I haven't come up with an answer and a path I want to pursue full force. Whatever I choose it's going to take a lot of work to 'make it' if I even do. I have a lot of hobbies that I practice daily or several times a week.

I think this has been mentioned before on here, and it would also be the a great troll from one of us. Market yourself as an erotic novelist. You'll probably never go viral like 50 Shades of Grey, but I'm sure that you can get a cult following and bang some groupies.

I used to think that only fat middle aged women read books like that but I was wrong. The last three girls I banged off of okcupid mentioned reading that book and they were in the age range of 24-34 and cute by RVF standards.

The last thing I want to mention is that even if we never become famous, there's a huge advantage in what I call 'pre-fame.' What I mean is pursuing a goal and project with a lot of passion and demonstrating your passion to the women you talk to. I'm not talking about hyping shit up(although that will sometimes work), but legitimately pursuing a dream.

Some thoughts.

If I were to answer the thread topic without reading the first post, I would say find “something” that you really enjoy and passionate about and parlay it into something where you'll get a following and exposure. You have lots of options now to gain exposure with the internet and technology available.

Do your research on that “something” and observe the current landscape. Make notes.

Chances are you’ll find something that someone else is already doing, ask yourself: what interesting twist can I make of this? How do I set myself apart or differentiate myself?

You'll have to give up a little privacy and show your face. In that case, dress stylish and groom yourself.

I'm saying to truly enjoy that something (whatever that is) because:

-it’ll make you an “expert” on it if you do it long enough

-people listen to “experts”, which can lead to other collaborations, projects, and other networking opportunities giving you more power, recognition, and maybe money

-what you enjoy won’t stress you out regardless of cost, time, and energy

- if you're able to talk/ramble about that something in length and with passion, chances are you'll make girls comfortable and let their guard down so you can ask them out on a date eventually

If you're gonna do it, invest in a good starting SLR camera, learn the craft, then build that portfolio.

Ask yourself: What's your focus? Fashion? Glamour? Art? Headshots?
Learn the lingo.

Like I said above, observe other people's work. What do you like about them? How do you replicate / improve on those?

There's a lot of guys with cameras (GWC's) now with digital so girls will be wary if you tell them you're a photographer and you want to shoot with them.

I have met this haitian cat the other day (he is 39) and he told me he recently became famous in the US around the haitian community. He never knew he could sing but he wanted to become famous. When he was 35, he started singing and recording songs. At first he was unsure if his music was good enough. Next minute, he started performing and everybody was responding well to his music. He is now famous in his community.

Im getting my money right for the next 2 years but after that, im chasing fame hardcore.

I'm going the music route, even though I'm over the hill (28) and most people say it doesn't get you laid anyway. I see the benefits as:

A) You amplify your exposure. I sometimes get approached in bars by a certain type of girl, I would only think being on stage as the frontman would increase this
B) You become more interesting. "I'm an aspiring singer in a band" is more interesting than "I'm a marketing associate at SnoreCorp"
C) You have a shot at earning a living doing something really fun. Worse case, you have a cool hobby and can impress people at parties and campfires.

In any case, any of these ideas that involve an artistic endeavor shouldn't be picked arbitrarily based on some logical calculation of maximizing fame and weighing it against the risk of failure and "lets be realistic" coefficient -- you should do something you're really stoked about and see if you can tap into a niche. Thanks to the net, I don't think there's ever been an easier time in history for artists to connect with fans of their type of art. You can't think in terms of the same traditional industry paradigms where you either become a superstar or fail completely.

I think that the biggest key to building any sort of fame is just figuring out what you want to do and just be really good at it and put work into it.

The second thing is just getting up after you fail. If you look at a lot of famous people a good portion of them were practically rejected from everywhere, but they kept going.

On the other hand there's also many people who kept trying and still failed and are still failing today.

The question is what's worse; Chasing a dream you'll never get Or dreaming about the chase you'll never perform?

Work in a club as a promoter or DJ. Also working as a bouncer can get you that fame effect if you go to clubs that your bouncer friends are on the doors of. Queue skipped, drinks served fast, ability to get your competition thrown out if you like, hell even crazy girls will not be able to fuck with you since the bouncers know you are legit and won't just believe any of sob story.

Buy your way to some level of fame.

If you are a musician, pay radio DJs to play your stuff. Pay venues to let you perform. Pay people to promote you.

I heard a story once about a rapper (think it was Jay Z) who before he was famous would basically suit up and go ball out at a club. He basically paid the people in his crew to be his hype men for the night. Because he stood out in the club with his entourage, dress adn throwing money around, people would ask around about him, at which point his crew would say "you don't know Jay? Man, he's the hottest shit out right now, etc."

You can also just walk into a bar and buy the entire place a round of drinks. Now everyone in the place knows of you.

Fame can be as much about your money as anything. There are 1000s of people with talent who work hard and don't make it.

You can also throw parties for charities or organize charity related events like a fun run for cancer or something

One of my best friends is a small time rapper. He's been making rhymes for about 4-5 years now, he's pretty good at it, and has a couple of songs on youtube with about 1k hits each. I agree with the people here saying being in a band is a DHV/fame builder. A friend and I went to this bar as customers while a reggae band was playing in front of a crowd of about 50. We get drunk and we beg persistently to get on stage to perform in their set and they finally let us. My friend got on stage and freestyled a rap. I was up next and performed one reggae song, "Girl flex, time to have sex..." sang and danced in a sexually charged way on stage. Within 30 seconds of the set, I had the two baddest broads in the building on stage as dancers for me. After the set, I had two 7s approach me asking me where do I usually perform. They wanted to know so they can see me. (Pre-forum days)I told them that I'm just a regular dude off the street and walked off to a different bar to get wasted.

Stand up comedy seems like a good way to build local fame, assuming you get good. It is also something you can do in your spare time since you will be mostly doing "open mics" for the first couple of years.

Starting a podcast is another idea. It could be focused on local issues so that you build some local fame.

Even though I've never gotten laid at a show directly, telling girls your in a band immediately increases their interest in you.

I'm gonna try my hand at acting eventually when I've got a few other things sorted out in my life. I've written a few film scripts too and got some positive feedback from the BBC about one but not enough for them to take it on yet. I learned how to write scripts myself from studying my favourite film scripts, and I therefore have a more "Americanised" format leaving much more to the imagination of the reader/director, while English scripts tend to be very descriptive almost like a book from what I can gather. They said I have to change a hell of a lot for them to reconsider and I've not been arsed with it.

If I were to have any career it would be an actor. I back myself in this as one of my only talents and there's a "niche" in the UK for the kind of style I can easily portray that is already big in America. I'm surprised it's not been done properly here, as some have tried but really not done well.
