I'd ditch the band idea. Unless you're really good and/or have connections in the music industry, forget it.

I'd also ditch the party promoter bit. It's not as ideal as it sounds and you have to deal with a ridiculous amount of BS. Imagine dealing with the Jersey Shore crowd on a regular basis. Something you wanna do? I don't think so.

Acting, yes. Get some headshots, take some acting classes, get yourself an agent. Requires some initial investment but if you've got the right profile you can start picking up background work in commercials in whatnot.

Blogging, yes. Blog about how many girls you bang, tighten up your writing style, add some dope graphics and make sure the interface is easy on the eyes. Just copy Hunter Moore.

DJ, yes. Gotta invest in some equipment and carve out your niche but it's easily done. Chicks ALWAYS want to hang out at the DJ booth.

Reality TV is a big one. Either be really good at something that a producer wants to cover, or just have an interesting/extreme personality that makes for "good T.V.".

I think I just picked up a pretty big shot at a reality cooking show. Going in next Thursday to film some production footage (not the actual competition) You guys might see me on T.V. in the next few months...

Yes, I have taught in high school, junior college, and state university. P.E. classes and leadership classes.

I banged a few students a year. I had instant status on campus. I was always the youngest male teacher at the school which always helped.

Ha, I get what you're saying Pitt, but while you say I'm being "super negative" and being pessimistic, I think you being a little too optimistic saying that "you can achieve whatever your mind believes." It sounds great in theory, but unfortunately reality doesn't always work out like that.

All over the U.S. there are kids who grow up dreaming about playing in the NBA, NFL, etc., a lot of these kids play sports all through school, some maybe were stars in their local towns, maybe even got a scholarship to a division II school, but they never achieve their ultimate dreams of becoming a professional athlete.

I'm not saying that a person shouldn't dream big and pursue their dreams, but the fact is that a very slim portion will ever make it huge on the big scale, whether that means playing in the NBA, becoming a movie star like Brad Pitt, or a famous rapper like Tupac. Achieving that status is a pipe dream for 98% of the people out there.

Ask guys like the dude, BasilRansom, etc., I'm sure L.A. is full of people trying to make it in acting, unfortunately most of them are working waiting tables, only to get the occasional tv commercial, etc. A lot of the women trying to make it big in Hollywood will end up in the San Fernando Valley doing porn.

I'm a pragmatist, that means I look at things as they are, in the reality of the situation. I try to better myself, work on goals, read books relating to self-help, etc., but at the end of the day, I know that it's not realistic to think I want to become the next Jon Jones, I'm going to start taking Muay Thai classes and Jiujitsu classes, and after a few years of hard work, I'll be a tittle contender in the UFC. That is just not ever going to happen. It's better to set realistic goals that can be achieved, instead of chasing a dream, wasting time, money, and energy, only to come up short.

You can say I'm negative, I'm not adding anything, etc., but that's just the reality of life. If it were that easy, we'd all be rock stars, movie stars, professional athletes, etc.

Another thing..people here make their own commercials and star in them. They run all the time.
We got Dr. Credit from the car lot and a entire slough of personal injury guys. Open some shit bizz and make a commercial. Local here couldn't be too expensive but SF? not sure. Also billboards. Micro fame. Our little local steakhouse has some dudes picture on them that works the kitchen. I cockblocked him just a few weeks ago but everyone knows him as a micro celeb. He's just not big enough yet to handle an el mechanico sized cockblock.

I want to own my own village. Be the big chief.

The plan would require the serious bucks. It would be a resort in a 2nd world country that includes the usual hotel, restaurants, and club, plus many family fun things like go cart racing, mini golf, small boat rental, motorcross bike rental, a gun range, and so on.

Plus I'd hire a full time staff of wing men to help arrange the social calendar.

I'd post my picture as the owner somewhere, much as the employee of the months picture is posted. Glad hand everyone, and let them post polaroids of them with my arm around them on a picture board.

And without the big bucks, something similar on a smaller scale. Inn and tavern combo, or owner of a call center or modeling agency.

How about becoming famous from doing porn? Some guys might think I'm kidding, but I've started to give this more and more thought lately. Sure there are obvious downsides, but for one you are getting paid to fuck hot ass young nymphos, and if you get enough work you can probably get a good bit of fame which will only bring in more money and fame. I just read that the porn star James Deen will be acting in a real legitimate film, and Sasha Grey while obviously more famous was in Entourage and the film "The Girlfriend Experience".

I'd also imagine that as a porn star you could set up a million different hustles, a blog or youtube channel would blow up easily and have a built in audience, if you DJ getting club gigs would be instantly more easy, not to mention possibilities of doing promotion, etc. I remember that Athlone posted a link to a vid on youtube where the pornstar Jayden James was doing a radio show and had a male pornstar named Voodoo on as a guest. He claimed that Lindsey Lohan was paying him for sex, and seemed to imply that other celebrities were doing the same.

Anyways, I digress, that was kind of my own personal rant. I really doubt I'd get into the industry, but the thought of working a minimum wage job 9-5 is like a death sentence to me, the option of banging hot 18 years in porn is a lot more attractive.

I went from not knowing how to play an instrument and not knowing the first thing about music production to releasing my first full-length album (self-produced) within the space of about 9 months and about $4,000. That includes buying all the equipment I needed, getting our first run of 500 CDs pressed and some advertising.

Before I started, I took stock of my situation, and I realized that:

A) My upsides were that I'm extremely good at writing, have an excellent voice, and I understand music on a meta-theory level (not well enough to explain in proper terms such as tension and resolution and explain scales and whatnot, just that I can usually tell when something is wrong and when it's not). I'm also very productive when left alone.
B) My downsides are that I'm not good at playing instruments, I didn't know a thing about producing or recording music, I didn't have a lot of money to blow, and that I'm not very good at getting people to go along with my cockamamie ideas.

In my case, I did dark electronic/industrial music. I didn't have to record live music since I just tracked everything and used physics modelers for guitars and heavily filtered samples for bass. That compensated for my mediocre instrumental skills, and also made it so that I didn't have to rely on anyone else to help me record or write (which is better really since I'm light years ahead of most scene artists in terms of raw musicality). The heavy vocal distortion effects I used compensated for the cheap equipment I recorded vocals on. Most importantly, the fact that I wrote and produced it made up for the extremely beta lyrics I write.

The takeaway is that I found a way to utilize my upsides while downplaying my weaknesses. In my case, I was never going to get anywhere working with other people because it's going to be rare for anyone to find well-heeled, talented musicians who can't write music and are willing to accept someone else being in charge, especially since they usually won't respect someone who can't play an instrument well themselves. However, I found a medium that enabled me to work as an individual, take musical charge of my project, bypass my inability to competently record at studio quality, and do it relatively inexpensively to boot. It's definitely more rewarding than being a karaoke star.

Look for a niche of fame that accentuates your positives and lets you bypass your weaknesses. Then you can succeed.

The added scrutiny, which means a certain loss of privacy and freedom. You become a target. For me, these things are negatives. Others might welcome it. I prefer the trappings and lifestyle of fame, while maintaining a degree of anonymity.

With youtube, you can create fame and I have seen some people do that. I think there must be some luck to it but look at the overly attached girlfriend shit. She did a video for a Beiber contest and ended up all over the internet.

I think there was a guy who talked about Scottsdale nightlife and become somewhat famous for putting douche bags on the site and critiquing women. I think the more brutal you are the better. Hell, women were sending their own pictures in to be assessed.

The thing about fame is that it's kind of random when it hits. For every actor or musician with B-or C-grade celebrity (enough to get plenty of tail) there's a dozen who worked just as hard and had as much talent, but it didn't happen. So it's a risky investment of your time. I prefer to build wealth and social circle. Being "the man" in a local scene is a better strategy to work towards in my opinion. E.g. I can be a photographer with a cool portfolio, who throws great parties and knows models - this is attainable with some work. But being a photographer or artist with genuine celeb status is going to be hit to miss.

I can tell you from first hand experience that starting a band definitely does NOT get you laid unless youre actually famous. I play in a rock band that gigs at good venues in nyc, and have never gotten laid after a'show. you have to gaul your gear out of the club afterwards, which sucks, and taking the time to practice really cuts into your gaming time. I love music and do it for the joy of it, do NOT get it twisted and think young bands getting good gigs are getting laid any more than some dude in the crowd w game.


I got laid way more before joining the band honestly. just having the free time to go out and game is way more valuable if you just want pussy.

But asfar as girls, did tthis musical project help you? or did the time you spent on music actually detract from time getting girls? honest question, im a musician but ive always just had better results w chicks when gaming normay, the music has definitely not thelped me get laid overall.

First the chances of getting fame big enough to inconvenience you are astronomically small. The only person here probably with a chance at that is Roosh, and his chances aren't great.

But if you think about it there are ways to achieve micro-fame that are not that hard. Just pick something you are interested in and be the local leader. Have a Noir movie study group, something like that. Smart chicks are really looking for something to do besides go to a bar and get hit on by boring, horny guys with no interests besides cars, chicks and money.
